And here am I. Started at age 29, just hit gc for the first time last season at the age of 31 😂 Not that I wanna go pro, but it truly is a young man’s game. Yuup, same here... started at 29, hit GC at 31 for the first time. I'm 33 now and still just GC1, and I've barely cracked GC2 once. The young player base is tough to keep up with, SSL is never gonna happen if I want to maintain a life and other hobbies, but I'm fine with that.

College esports is actually a ton of fun if your teammates have good spirits. Dropped League recently at the age of 20 because i realized the game style would not compliment my playstyle (slow gameplay, heavily reliant on others, don't get to show off mechanics that much); dropped Brawlhalla around 18 because i just wasn't good enough at it after major changes occured, completely ruined it for me (addition of dash for those who know the game) + i didn't enjoy playing the game as much as i did initially. Now i'm 21, started playing RL last year, i have around 200 hours and i'm c2/c3, i just wish i could put all the hours i spent in other games here. This game is so good for mechanics and solo play style, it's everything i've ever wanted, honestly don't know if i will reach pro level anymore, considering i can't spend my days playing like i used to, but it sure as hell compliments my playstyle. All this to explain one thing, talent, experience and your taste for a game need to come together if you want to become PRO. Maybe you're good at COD, but you hate FPS; you love League, but you're bad at MOBAS etc... No matter how many hours you put in a game (even if you become good), you will (mostly) be better in the game you understand the fundamentals NATURALLY, because PROs become PRO when they do stuff faster and better than most people do in a precise amount of time. Example: why some need 1000 hours to get Diamond in League, and some need 2000; why most people reach SSL in 2000 hours, but some do it in half the time? This is because you need to find the right game, which you're naturally good at, want to spend a lot of time in, and enjoy playing as well. It can't be just one or two of these 3 things IMO. I'm not sure i managed to prove my point, but that's it i guess. (sorry for bad english as well)
This is now my favorite video from you Thanovic. Honestly it's what I needed. I play on a Chromebook through GeForce Now, and it gets really difficult to improve due to the lack of performance and quality I get. I play more than 7 hours a day, and I play freeplay as much as I can. I just don't think I'll be able to move forward without upgrading my setup. Trust me, it's that bad. Performance/delay of the game changes in between matches and has me constantly changing my settings/sensitivity. It's really a struggle that I hope I can push past to reach my dream of becoming a pro. Thank you for this video
System latency (lag) is a very important factor, so you're on a HUGE disadvantage. Even an old PS4 or X|O (not the Switch) would be better than that. It's impressive that you still somehow managed to get C3 with such setup, though.
no way ur champ 3 while on a chromeback and u started last year?! big respect I can deff see you as an SSL if u got a good pc/laptop. get a side job and buy one.
You reached c3 in 1 year? really don’t wanna be an asshole but there’s no way. i’ve put in about 4000 hours on rl and my peak is gc3 and i can safely say there’s no way anyone can reach that level in 1 year unless they played a inhuman amount of RL.
Mentality is probably one of my bigest struggles but when I fixed it MOMENTAIRLY, I went up a whole rank 💀💀its mainly just about training what you should be training. If you're only play 1 hour a day. Try making the most out of it. Spending 30 minutes in freeplay working on something specific. Then 15 minuets in game concentrating on: GOOD TOUCHES and PLAY SMART. Finally, use those last 15 minutes to reveiw your win's and losses to see what does and doesn't work. Then tslr everything Thano said and sue it to the best of your ability!
I don’t know man.. I really have this feeling in me that I been wanting to go pro in any game. This has been a dream of mine sense I was 9 just seeing people go pro and having there name out there is insane. I’m a C2 D3 and I feel like I have no time left but then I feel like there is time I just need to grind and take my time slowly. See the progress little by little and I’ll start to get my name out there.
Very inspiring video. Thanks Thanovic for highlighting it as a topic and help illuminate the way. You, Wayton, Apparently Jack are ones I follow regularly on TH-cam. You have been an immense help to my improvement and as of Season 7, I am close to breaking into Diamond with only about 180-200 hours of applied game time. I have a goal to reach champ by 600 hours. Oh, and btw, I am an "old" man, and agree that any age can do this. I am 37 years old, so I have about 20 years on most mean average age pros. But I believe in my heart it can be done. Thank you for your inspirations from all three of you! :)
I LOVE that you included that the more accurate statement to "Practice makes Perfect" is actually "PERFECT Practice makes Perfect"!! Not many people realize that!
Man this is great insight. I’m p3-d1 and I aspire to go pro, I’m actually in college and going to tryout for my university’s RL team and this has shown me how much time I need to try and dedicate to it. Great video as always!
Thank you for this video. I myself want to become a pro on rocket league and this made me more motivated and I’m gonna put in the actual time now, I am almost out of school and am getting a job soon, but the grind will continue and won’t stop. I’m currently 17 and c2, hopefully to get a coach that’s worth it soon so I can become even better. Thank you thanovic
Great video with great insights. The mentality and attitude in game is the most important aspect and having a team with that same approach is a must as one egg cracking can make everybody go omelette. The standard ranked matches are very flawed in this sense. Most people, and I'm guilty as well, treat it like any other gambling game where you hope to have good tm8s, hit your shots, and win the match. Eventually you get caught in this loop where it can go bad fast. Most of the people wanna forfait after getting scored but being 1-1 with 3min left. Others would sabotage a match winning 5-2 cause you remind them that, unless stated otherwise, left goes. The majority of the mindset of players in this game(and others) has nothing to do with how sports and other disciplines have to be be approached. It's no surprise that the apex of toxicity is champ, where people start to be kinda capable but not really. I myself decided to play the game only if I can keep a serious, balanced mindset and if I lose it then go casual, go 1s, do something else. Sometimes it's about taking a break, but I still find myself playing at least 4h to 8h a day just cause I'm drawn to it. I do have 2300h on the game and just like anything I spend time on, I take it serious and aim for the best I can be. Sure I'm making good use of the advices and checking 6 mans/men.
This is a fantastic video my play time dropped severely after my daughter was born but middle of covid To now I went from gold 1 to c1 just grinding training packs and ranked. Now I kind of plateaued so I need to change around bindings and learn new mechanics while grinding training. A video like this a great motivator for someone thinking about hanging it up keep grinding y’all
bro just open my eye to what was in front of me this whole time to believe and train no matter what age of rank you are put in the effert and you can do it no matter what people think. I put my head down when my friend said you will never reach grand champ when i was gold 1div3 and now i am plat 3div5 almost dimond 1 i hope you all can learn and take somthing form this and i wish you all luck on your dreams
I wish going pro I am now turning 17 being d3 and started when I was 16 and I think there r others like me that can make it but there rvsomethings u need to take in account like the thoughts of parents or even ur location like for example in my country there is no RL sides and don't compete(from south Africa) but its all abt the grind. Great video and wish luck upon everyone else wanting to become pro.
You can do your best and still not be good enought to reach pro in 5 years from now. Gaming is not only about the game you're playing. Everything matters. How you wake up in the day, what people said to you earlier, how good/bad you're feeling, what kind of problems you're going through and the list goes on. If you only focus on the game, you're gonna lose a lot of the important details that comes with living a good life. Don't push yourself too much to the point of cursing yourself entirely. I really wish these details were a greater part of the content of this video, but still, great video.
OMFG so motivated with this video man. Saw this three days ago. The day i saw it i played for 8 hours, second day i saw it i played for 6 hours, yesterday i played for 12 hours and today im playing for 5 hours already and im looking for more, like 11 or 12 hours this day. Thx I needed this I struggle with mechanic and I started giving up with rocket league and now I’m starting back playing since it’s summer I will play it all day and try my hardest and try to do tryouts and hear what other people have to say for me to improve
But my mentality is good just I that time I gave up bc I felt like without do any mechanic I couldn’t beat no one bc I kept losing but not I wouldn’t even care if I lose just to learn what I did wrong and try to do my best next match sadly I don’t have a teammate that would help me get better and to do teamwork
Okay, I'm sorry, but as you're asking if I want to go pro 4 seconds in, I see three dudes with their hands on their pockets looking nervous onstage and I lost my shit. That's so funny.
I started when I was 7 before that I ALWAYS in 2015-16used to watch my brother play in diamond and now since I used to watch him I got to plat two from gold 2 in a month and I’m still freaking out I was focusing too much on mechanics since I was in like silver
I hit C1 in a about a year of gameplay and I’m 18. If I’m not pro in 4 years I’m retiring the game forever. Will come back to this post in 4 years and update you all don’t worry
Honestly, i just wanna improve by myself, like getting ssl in 1s. After i get close to that level, maybe then i could think about playing with a group.
Hey guys, so I need some words of encouragement right now. So last season I was nearly gc, but fell just short, and now I'm struggling in c1. I really feel down and helpless, my dream goal is to get gc2, but I'm stuck in c1 after being c3 div 4 last week
Hi, when I play doubles and solos I can’t win because in my opinion the opponents are pretty bad so I’m playing bad for some reason, maybe because I’m not playing serious or something I DONT KNOW. But like a year ago I was in plat 3 or something and one of my friends was in champ and sometimes we played ranked for some reason 😂 and the opponents were much better of course but I played much better too.? I don’t know what to do and why I’m bad against my opponents. Now I’m Diamond 3 in doubbles and diamond 1 in solos
Man, dedicate 6-8 hours per day! I usually just do 4 hours per day cuz my eyes can't handle staring at a screen for longer than 4 hours, plus I have college projects and my job. I've been improving quite a lot with just 4 hours per day. I know I'll be improving much slower than those pros, since they dedicated 6-8 hours per day and I'm dedicating 4 hours per day. However, 4 hours is the most I can dedicate per day and it still seems to be working. Also, great video Thanovic! And question, do you happen to coach on metafy too?
@@swagie_ Ikr! I started practicing aerials now that I'm going up in rank, and I find myself spending my entire time in free play practicing rather than actually joining matches lol
great video, but I feel like it doesn‘t adress many people. Imo there is no point in wondering about going to pro if you are not SSL or gc3 at least. Sure you can grind and try to improve as much as you can at every rank of the game, but you shouldnt be thinking about going pro if you are still super far away from that point.
You're never gonna hit high gc or SSL without grinding though. I don't think anyone at lower ranks (with the exception of plats, of course) honestly believes they can instantly go pro. This is just a guide on how to start your journey to it imo.
Honestly I think it's a good idea to at least start thinking about 6 mans as early as gc1. Not to try and be the best, but just to get yourself in that area, push yourself. The rest of your time should NOT be be put towards ranking up, but rather freeplay, and pushing your mechanics whenever you play. I very much support Jack's advice of how improving speed and mechanics is key to reaching pro level. But yeah, if you're not yet at that high champ level, then you just need to keep playing the game, make sure to push yourself and make mistakes. If you do so, you'll find yourself improving, and sooner or later you'll also begin to see that in your rank.
I don’t know, if I become a pro; but I don’t need to; I just want to play in the high ranks; and, who knows, maybe someday I’m going to be one of these legends
Wait a minute… All I have to do is practice 8 hours each day? Omg I’ll be pro in a year I’m d1 currently. Might have to make a few changes to my schedule like eat once a day and sleep about 2 hours a day but as long as I become pro I’m fine with it! :D
I Somehow am able to balance play RL at least 6 hours a day along with school, sports and going to the gym so I guess something that can help is time management
I have a bunch of stuff going on in school lately that I can't neglect. This video opened my eyes for the 2nd time.
40 year old diamond going on 3k hours (over 5yrs.)... I got this!
Did your improvement got stuck?

BRO THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN
W
See the progress little by little and I’ll start to get my name out there.
your editor peaked this video -great work!
thank you David!
@@TornadoVFX seriously good job 👏
This is nice to hear. I've been working so hard, and I've reach a semi pro level. Time to grind my way up to pro level 😁
Which rank are you currently?
Best of luck to ya!!
Thanks man this has given me inspection
I LOVE that you included that the more accurate statement to "Practice makes Perfect" is actually "PERFECT Practice makes Perfect"!! Not many people realize that!
This was a fun video, great change of pace.
Man this is great insight. I’m p3-d1 and I aspire to go pro, I’m actually in college and going to tryout for my university’s RL team and this has shown me how much time I need to try and dedicate to it. Great video as always!
How do you do since then ?
Great content Man! Love it!
Yes sir we will give our best!
Even better, “Practice makes better.”
Your vids are always AMAZING bro!
Im c1 and now im ready for rlcs
What a motivational video! I know Thanovic is always very uplifting but this took it to a whole other level!
Just enjoy the game.
First killer said he puts a minimum of 40 hours a week, that’s incredible since he’s still in high school
My only goal in life is to be 95 percent accurate in guessing if what I feel is a poop or a fart coming. I have some work to do.
LMAO top tier comment. Idk if there’s any truth to your comment or if you’re fully joking but as someone with IBS this one really hits home
Great Video. Awesome pros with great insight! can't wait to put in the grind
This is a fantastic video my play time dropped severely after my daughter was born but middle of covid To now I went from gold 1 to c1 just grinding training packs and ranked. Now I kind of plateaued so I need to change around bindings and learn new mechanics while grinding training. A video like this a great motivator for someone thinking about hanging it up keep grinding y’all
Mark my words I have what it takes to go pro I don’t care how long it takes me. One day I will be on that stage

bro just open my eye to what was in front of me this whole time to believe and train no matter what age of rank you are put in the effert and you can do it no matter what people think. I put my head down when my friend said you will never reach grand champ when i was gold 1div3 and now i am plat 3div5 almost dimond 1 i hope you all can learn and take somthing form this and i wish you all luck on your dreams
i kick myself EVERY SINGLE DAY for not starting my rocket league journey earlier… it actually keeps me up at night sometimes

Rather than saying, “Perfect practice makes perfect” a more accurate thing to say is “Practice makes improvement”
Thank you. I appreciate you making this video.
Great video. You are killing it.
I love the ending sentence, great video! :)
Practice makes progress 💪🏽
OMFG so motivated with this video man. Saw this three days ago. The day i saw it i played for 8 hours, second day i saw it i played for 6 hours, yesterday i played for 12 hours and today im playing for 5 hours already and im looking for more, like 11 or 12 hours this day. Im from EU btw.
Thank you for MOTIVATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a good video, thanks for the effort!
as a gc2 i can surely say i'm so far of what it takes to become pro
you're quite far indeed but much closer than most. if you want to go pro just go for it ig.
@@swagie_ probably i would have tried but i study medicine and it’s very time consuming :(

Okay, I'm sorry, but as you're asking if I want to go pro 4 seconds in, I see three dudes with their hands on their pockets looking nervous onstage and I lost my shit. That's so funny.

I started when I was 7 before that I ALWAYS in 2015-16used to watch my brother play in diamond and now since I used to watch him I got to plat two from gold 2 in a month and I’m still freaking out I was focusing too much on mechanics since I was in like silver

thank you thanovic. I always wanted to go pro but now i know that i can, and i will
I hit C1 in a about a year of gameplay and I’m 18. If I’m not pro in 4 years I’m retiring the game forever. Will come back to this post in 4 years and update you all don’t worry
Aight see ya guys imma go pro. And ill be back here once I achieve it.
I'm fine whit my rank I just hate toxic/trash talkers. Gotta get outta diamond soon.
Great video as always Thano
Honestly, i just wanna improve by myself, like getting ssl in 1s. After i get close to that level, maybe then i could think about playing with a group.
Thanks so much 🙏😊 This got me thinking 🤔 ❤😊

Hey guys, so I need some words of encouragement right now. So last season I was nearly gc, but fell just short, and now I'm struggling in c1. I really feel down and helpless, my dream goal is to get gc2, but I'm stuck in c1 after being c3 div 4 last week
Truly inspiring 🙏
I am 3 months in and diamond 3 division 2 hopefully get champ this seaon
Hi, when I play doubles and solos I can’t win because in my opinion the opponents are pretty bad so I’m playing bad for some reason, maybe because I’m not playing serious or something I DONT KNOW. But like a year ago I was in plat 3 or something and one of my friends was in champ and sometimes we played ranked for some reason 😂 and the opponents were much better of course but I played much better too.? I don’t know what to do and why I’m bad against my opponents. Now I’m Diamond 3 in doubbles and diamond 1 in solos
Is it only me that i expected the "what can you do to become pro? Nothing. Go away" 🤣🤣
Man I’m plat 3 and play 11 hours a day this is so bull
Good motivation 💪
Man, dedicate 6-8 hours per day! I usually just do 4 hours per day cuz my eyes can't handle staring at a screen for longer than 4 hours, plus I have college projects and my job. I've been improving quite a lot with just 4 hours per day. I know I'll be improving much slower than those pros, since they dedicated 6-8 hours per day and I'm dedicating 4 hours per day. However, 4 hours is the most I can dedicate per day and it still seems to be working.
Also, great video Thanovic! And question, do you happen to coach on metafy too?
4hrs a day is actually way more than enough until you start to get to the rly high levels imo
If you do so, you'll find yourself improving, and sooner or later you'll also begin to see that in your rank.
this is so motivational
I don’t know, if I become a pro; but I don’t need to; I just want to play in the high ranks; and, who knows, maybe someday I’m going to be one of these legends
Wait a minute… All I have to do is practice 8 hours each day? Omg I’ll be pro in a year I’m d1 currently. Might have to make a few changes to my schedule like eat once a day and sleep about 2 hours a day but as long as I become pro I’m fine with it! :D
Im 13 and i have got 2600 hours in the game i got to gc3 and im gonna keep grinding everyday until i will enter the pro scene
Wow. That’s actually crazy. I’m barely diamond 3 div 3. I was champ but I can’t get up to champ
tysm for this, this is so me content
I Somehow am able to balance play RL at least 6 hours a day along with school, sports and going to the gym so I guess something that can help is time management
