I went to HK, 20 Jan 1974 (From Indonesia) for a week. It was just few months after Bruce Lee passed away in Kowloon. I remember the tallest building by the seaside was 40 storey building. And the Sea Tunnel from HK island to Kowloon was just started operate.

I was in Hong Kong for 4 years until Jan 14 1974. I still miss the good old Hong Kong of pre-1997. Bustling, entrepreneurial, wealthy had a lot of friends and it was a great time for teenager. We lived in Chater Hall, 1 Conduit Road - front lower left of the opening shots.
@paklaanfa Anyone with the faintest idea about Hong Kong would also realize that the Mao banner was up for many years, not just Xmas. There were Mao slogans all over town too. .
The Mao banner building is Bank of China. The one with l;ion is HSBC HQ,or HK Bank as it was called then and the lion was their trademark. China did not have a consulate because HK was and is China. The treaties that let British rule were unequal.
@fanatix2008 "chairman mao" was old bank of China building and next to it was old hong kong & shanghai bank building, now HSBC headquarter, different sets of ideology co-existed...... come to Hk and see it yourself.

HK was already quite modern with many high rise buildings, that was 37 years back and very interestinig to revisit it through this clip.

Old HSBC building, HK Club and Hilton hotel....nice memory

@fanatix2008 it's Bank of China. The 'cartoon lion' one is HSBC.
#4:00 looks like it's the Victoria Junior School (already demolished) at the lower left.
Amazing rich man's quality
Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter, nice memory.
I love Hong Kong Michael, do you?
"Long Live Chairman Mao"in the British colony in those days! Wow!

Stop talking nonsense. Hong Kong Island and Tsim sha tsuei were purchases from the Chinese Empress. They were never a colony. Bloody fool.
@fanatix2008 Sorry, I don't know as I didn't take these pictures myself.
British Hong Kong!
Good!
