Best moment was the very beginning in the choppers. The music they chose and then showing Colby’s hat, Coach’s tattoo, Rupert’s tie die, and Boston Rob’s Red Sox hat sent you chills. You didn’t need to see the faces, you knew who they were. Awesome!
Honestly the heroes should have made many different choices. They should have flipped it on JT for being the swing vote and voted him out. They should have kept Stephenie longer. They should have voted Colby out before Tom. If Cirie was still there maybe things are different with JT giving the idol to Russell....poor choices
@@BigShowGunnoe Lol I love how you say that Cirie wouldn't have let JT give Russell the idol because the only hero who realized that was a bad idea was Amanda but she decided not to object. Cirie wouldn't let that fly.
I am SO sad this is ending! But congrats, and thank you Rob, for an amazing series of podcasts. I looked forward to every episode all year long and it has been such an enjoyable ride!
This is the best chemistry on any panel I've seen on the countdown. Great choice having Shannon and Chappell join you Rob in recapping the #1 survivor season (truly deserved placement).
What is interesting about this season is when I first watched it so many years ago I just got so much Russell, and so much of my memory of the season was just Russell Russell Russell, but future re-watches I feel like you get so much more from other characters. Reflecting on the season now I think so much more about other storylines that aren't Russell related. Perhaps the survivor alternative timeline I want to see the most is Jeri in the final 3. If she won here, I would have been so happy for her and it would have been the single best 3 season character arc, having gotten revenge on Colby in All-Stars, reconciling with him in HvV and top it off with earning his vote in the final tribal council.
I also had this ranked #1. There is very rarely a dull episode in this season, all the people who returned in this season added value in some way, shape, or form. The pre-merge is definitely a bit long in this season but full of great moments. From the first challenge with multiples injuries to a sumo challenge where the heroes absolutely destroy the villains to James getting his leg hurt, both tribes went all out. Then in camp life, there's multiple scuffles for immunity idols along with Russell's usual antics along with some bone headed plays from JT. The first three boots weren't too interesting, but once Tom and JT pull a move to get Cirie out, the game start to kick it up a notch to where the villains start going to tribal more because Russell wants control of the game. His blindsides of Tyson and Rob were good strategic gameplay, but it's a shame that it cost them their strength in challenges because it gave the heroes life up until the point where JT was an absolute idiot. When we hit the merge boot, Parvati plays that blindside absolutely perfectly, and it leads to JT and Amanda taking the fall (also with some fault on Candice being dumb and telling Russell everything). But this leads us to the two original heroes fighting for their lives by smartly taking advantage of the split vote to get rid of Candice, and then Russell deciding to pull a move on Danielle to weaken Parvati's place in the game. This does eventually lead to Rupert and Colby both going out next and the villains voting out Jerri at the end. Sandra's final tribal performance was great along with Parvati's while Russell completely showed his arrogance while the entire jury scolded him for it, which he had it coming. This season has so many iconic moments that helped shape the way the game was played going forward, and it even helped bring multiple Survivor legacies to a close. This season is entertaining throughout and it is filled with tons of drama, and even in a small pagoning of the heroes in the merge, they all still made things exciting. This is the most iconic season of Survivor, and I don't know if there will ever be another one like it for now.
@@_MjG_ I can see that but her problem was she made little to no social connections with the heroes while Sandra did, and I think the fact that she was aligned with Russell most of the time basically killed her chances of doing that.
Boston Rob appears to be a hero in this season because he learned to preach loyalty and unity but if he can get farther he'll vote anyone out. He's just a different kind of villain. This is what he was trying to do with Coach and Jerri. I think this is where Coach learned his gameplay for his third season. Preach being a tribe but play for yourself.
4:16:00 I think these are interesting points for how JTs may be assuming the best of Russell Also I could see him being afraid Amanda and Candace as players who have played with Parvati would flip over there, and the thought that there was an all women's alliance maybe made him think their tribe was much more cohesive than it was. Its so crazy how the outcome of Candace vs Boston Rob affects the season sooo much lol
I also believe Courtney would go far or even make it to top 3. She's one of those players that can slip under the rada and end up in the finals. And If ever the final 3 was Parvati, Russell and Courtney, I think Courtney could win.
Chappell hit it on the head, if people do not like you, and you treated people poorly, it does not matter how much strategy or how many votes are cancelled with an idol play if people do not like you as a person.
I'm just seeing this now but HvV has always been my favorite. Has it all. Great characters, hotties, gameplay and Russell was amazing considering he was right off Samoa and the players were much better.
I will always defend and stand by Candice decision to flip bad timing yes but i can't blame her the Heroes treated her like crap had made really clear they didn't like her and was going to vote her out and plus Amanda and Colby lies to her about the clue how can you stay with that and you get offered something you'll going to jumped on it but yeah Candice decision to flip i will always stand by
@@bigbuffguy9589 she wasn't going to win anyway or win with the Heroes i honestly would have done the same thing again i stand by her decision like if you been in her position the whole game and you get offered something a chance your going jump and take it
If Candice didn’t win the premerge individual immunity she goes home there as well. She made the right decision to flip but the female Villians made a smarter decision to flip back on her.
I choked on my water when I saw how long this one was. My goodness Edit: (like thirty minutes in) I'm 100% percent with Chappell in that the edit is not the greatest. If Sandra is ultimately gonna be the winner show more of her. And especially if Parvati doesn't win why on earth did they show over and over how everyone thought she would win. Just kinda frustrating
43:55 - yes, Parvati did run the women's alliance because she was the glue that made them all stick together. She brought Natalie and Alexis into the alliance and tied them with Cirie and Amanda. Without her there wouldn't have been a women's alliance lol.
@@_MjG_ I mean a "villain" if she played modern survivor she would have been the strategic fan favorite but its because she was the all american blue collar type before then she came back bloodthirsty so people were offended but I think she should be given more credit for Guatemala
Man remembering back to the moments it's crazy to think that this season could have been even better potentially if the Heroes did not mess up that hard in the middle of the game. Also I don't how many times Jeff praises Sandra or how big of a statue he builds her on Fiji Parvati is the survivor queen and she was robbed. Like she literally played against the odds the whole game (on the villain tribe, then at the merge and then when Russel went crazy) and still managed to get to the end. Unless people are fine with the fact that she was never winning that season no matter what, she was fucked over by a bitter jury.
God I’m so sick of this “bitter jury” bullshit. She MADE them bitter. They’re not just randomly upset. Part of the game is making the jury like you. If you can’t do that you didn’t play a good game and you don’t deserve to win. It really is that simple
The reason I like Micronesia more than Heroes vs Villains is because the editing on Heroes vs Villains was horrible in terms of the story that was portrayed.
I’m still confused. Sandra won with zero strategy except get Russell out which she didn’t achieve. Furthermore, everyone liked her because she was on the outs with the dominant alliance.
@@bigbuffguy9589 yes but she got the votes because she wasn’t controlling the game. It should be better gameplay to control the game then be at the bottom and make it to the end doing nothing. She made it there because she wasn’t a threat to win anything. Sorry social is because she was with the people be voting out. It shouldn’t be I was friends with people who never had a chance to win. You should be rewarded for setting yourself up to win and controlling the game strategically.
@@bigbuffguy9589 my biggest problem with her game is she didn’t want to go to the end with Russell when that was her only winning scenario. She actively failed to get Russell out when the heroes couldn’t get it together. Her strategic game is so poor this season but her social game is flawless. I will say she wins the game at the final 4 because everyone is taking her and she beats everyone.
@@jaredgurdak8856 so on your season, you can vote by your own criteria. That is the true test of this game and what makes it so engaging. The jury votes on what’s important to them, not what’s important to you :)
@@raheemfielder-bey998 The problem with survivor now is that everybody (like you and Jared) thinks you need to make big moves and prove you have the best gameplay.
