    I’ve upgraded from iPhone 11 to 15 and as a standard user, honestly as much as ridiculous this might sound but the biggest change for me day-to-day is just USB-C.

      @@Antody But this is a unique case as the last time Apple did this was 2012 with the iPhone 5 and I believe USB-C is here to stay and it will probably take me longer to upgrade so I will make it worth it hopefully.

      My AirPods Max are stuck with lightning. My APP2 are as well, but I can charge those wirelessly. But also since my wife is on a 14 Pro, I will have to carry around a Lightning cable for the next couple of years.
      So now my 15 Pro uses USB-C, as does my iPad Pro, … This change has helped nothing for me yet!

    I think the reason the 60hz thing is so frustrating is that it's difficult to find a phone released today that ISN'T at least 90hz or 120hz. It cannot be that expensive when most smart phones target 120hz now anyways. The only reason it's still 60hz is because of what Marques said; it is a way to differentiate the regular 15 from the 15 pro. And that's a shame. They are purposely making their base phones worse.

    • @Mistygio
      @Mistygio ปีที่แล้ว +235

      They aren't purposely making the phones worse. Apple is just putting their money where it belongs. To the average person, a higher calibrated, higher performing, brighter display is a lot more important. And to me as a photographer, I still prefer the iPhone 15 display over a Samsung galaxy display because even the 15 regular has a higher performing display than the galaxy when it comes to EVERYTHING except for refresh rate. It's not a big deal. The display that im looking at right now is my LG $1,200 Ultrafine display. Its only 60HZ!
      Update: it is a popular myth that Samsung displays are generally better but that’s not true according to DxO Mark and DisplayMate. Remember iPhone was the first phone to debut a 2000 nits Dolby Vision display. And iPhone has always outperformed Samsung displays when it came to accuracy, brightness levels, uniformity, and image retention prevention technology. And although Samsung Display supplies Apple with components, Apple is the company that engineers the display. It beats the Samsung displays no thanks to Samsung but thanks to Apple’s engineering. For anyone who cannot understand how this works, Apple’s computer monitor ‘Pro Display XDR’ beat out all the top Samsung OLED monitors when it came to brightness, detail, and accuracy at the time it came out a few years ago and Apple literally uses LCD technology for their Pro Display XDR product. It’s still one of the most professional and highest performing computer monitor display to this day thanks to Apple’s engineering on it.

      Dude S series displays are higher performig in every single scenario. Also in India, an average person cannot afford even a base iPhone 15, so people who buys latest iPhone do care about refresh rate (unless they are buying just to show off).@@Mistygio

    The thing with the 60hz vs 120hz is that you do not notice that much of a difference when you upgrade. The problem is when you downgrade from 120hz to 60hz. The device feels almost broken and really outdated. It's the same with PC monitors. Once you go 120hz and above, 60 Hz feels like the monitor is broken.

It’s also incredibly easy to use and will probably continue to get software updates for 5 or so years, so that’s a huge plus. I upgraded from the 8 to the 15 standard model and I’m thrilled either way my upgrade. I haven’t experienced any heat issue’s although im not much of a power user (text + youtube mostly). I think a lot of the people who complain about the minimal changes simply don’t wait long enough to upgrade. My 8 probably was due last year but I waited around one extra because of the rumors about usb-c and I’m glad I waited. I’m seeing a lot of friends who have 12/13s who are upgrading and not all that satisfied and I think theyre a little silly for getting rid of their phones so soon. If you spending near $1000 on a phone you probably should do your best to hold out 4-5 years before even thinking of upgrading. Whats the rush? The story is the same every year now, everyone knows this years iPhone will only have minor changes over last years iPhone. It’s been that way for a long time now. The last major overhaul was the X and before that the last major overhaul was the 5. It just doesn’t happen that often anymore, the tech has been pushed so far that I’m not sure why people expect every years new phone to be game changing. The software locked features despite hardware supporting is something I can't get behind but seems to be something Apple is trying to force people to upgrade. The iPhone 13 pro has a 120hz OLED screen but doesn't get always on. (I know techincally the 14's can do 1hz to 120hz and 13s only do 10hz to 120hz but the feature should still be possible). The 14 Pro has the exact same specs as the regular 15 but they lock camera features just to the 15. It also makes me worried about what will happen at the 5 year mark for these phones. Usually a phone is guaranteed 5 years of support due to the chipset hitting 5 years old. However, since the base iPhones are just getting last years chips will they get the full 5 years and if so will Apple just artificially lock the pro phones from an extra year of updates. Like will the iPhone 14 get an extra update over the 13 pro max despite both having a15 bionics? Been using an iPhone since the X but if Apple keeps this up I can't see myself continuing to invest in 1k "Pro" phones only to get locked out of new features for no apparent reason.

    I upgraded from iPhone 7 so the change is massive, especially the battery life. At the end of the i still have like 40-50% battery, compared to charging twice a day and im like what am i supposed to do with all this battery haha. Anyway, my biggest complain so far is: why, can't my screen go to 1Hz as well, i don't care, keep the 120 but make the standby feature usable on the non pro 15s for crying out loud. It defeats the whole purpose of standby since i still have to tap the screen to wake. Might as well look at my ugly ass night stand alarm clock, since it's way faster

      Enabling refresh frequency changes, especially in the low-range, requires dedicated display hardware and driving technologies. What allows the Pro screens to refresh with variable frequency is not just Apple's will, but rather a completely different display LED technology. From an embedded software POV there is also a specially designed display driving processor that can drive the LEDs as commanded by the microcontroller.
      In short, the hardware of your screen cannot drop to such low frequencies without the LEDs sustaining too much damage and shortening the life of the display. The same technology that would allow a screen to drop to 1Hz would also enable it to go higher and at variable frequencies; there would be no point in having this very feature.

      Since the release day in October 2020, I've been the proud owner of the iPhone 12. It has served as my primary device, just like my previous phones, the iPhone XS Max, which I used for a good 2-3 years. However, the iPhone 15 seems like a worthy upgrade this year. Initially, I planned to wait for the iPhone 16 lineup in September 2024, but my iPhone 12 has started showing signs of aging, especially last year when its battery health dropped below 80%. This decline has significantly affected its performance. After reading an incredibly well-written and meticulously edited review on the base model of the iPhone 15, I've decided to upgrade sooner rather than later. Now, I'm torn between choosing the pink or black variant, and I'm leaning towards the 128 GB storage option.

He's currently on a iphone 7, so this is going to be a huge upgrade. I wasn’t blown away by the iPhone 15 or 15 Pro so (probably controversial to some) I recently upgraded from an iPhone X to an Apple Refurbished iPhone 13. Mainly due to the poor battery on the X and that it wasn’t getting iOS 17. Im pleased with my purchase. A fraction of the cost of a new phone with almost identical features and although refurbished you would never know as it looks brand new and gets a 12 month Apple Warranty. I’m not fussed about USB-C as Apple isn’t utilising it to its full capability. I have no problem carrying a different cable or I just use wireless charging . I don’t like the new colours of the 15 and can’t justify spending so much on a Pro for features I can live without.
