I personally think it sounds similar to how you described the Adam from WhatCulture situation. How he made it explicitly clear that the person he used to be is someone he absolutely despises and has hated for a while, how he fully expects people to not forgive him and is perfectly understanding and ok with that, took quite a bit of time off the internet, then eventually came back.

You can find them on TH-cam the group is fairly popular so a lot of channels covered it but in short miniladd leaves after beef with terrorizer later on down the line miniladd is outed as a pedophile by his victims where he goes on to admit to it and also I believe an apology video
