@@racineurr.8924 any CVT can be bad. even in a high end car.. CVTs need regular check ups like changing the CVT oil at least every other year, need to check the CVT fluid at least every 6 months to see if its burnt etc, and with CVTs YOU CAN NOT drive it like a regular transmission.. you can not floor it, you have to wait till any CVTs hit about 50kms before you can push the CVT.. so in the end if you treat any CVT well it will last for years. and last for many miles.
@@dragoon666 High and thanks for your reply. After reading it, I think I could buy a vehicle equipped with a CVT cause I'm the type who takes care of his car. I have now a Rio 2012 with 60,000 km and no scratches, no bumps no nothing on he body. Oil changed every 6-8000 km, a small break job done, a new battery and that's it. Maybe mother luck but it'a a trouble free car. I know how to drive it and I know its limits. So if you say taking great care of a CVT is the trick, I'm happy to lear that from you sir. And I thank you for that.
@@racineurr.8924 I drive a 2012 sonic and i heard NOTHING but issues with them yet I had not once issue other then a thermostat issue and I still have the breaks pads it came with from 8 years ago I am never hard on any car I have had.
I test drove both of these vehicles. They were both good, but I really preferred the Nissan Kicks overall. Its better fuel economy, interior and exterior designs, and price were just better in my opinion. So we went for the Kicks, and it was the best decision for us by far!
Agreed, I enjoyed driving it much more than the Kicks. But in other categories, the Kicks is better. Too bad Mazda won't update the CX-3 & is instead discontinuing it from the American market. Thanks for watching!
Great review and very informative as I'm in the market for a small cross over, i was leaning towards the kicks but not completely sold.both could use more horsepower.
Great review. The CX-3 is definitely the car I'd choose if I were in the market for something this small. I'm surprised to see how well it still stacks up against newer crossovers.
Thanks! Yea the Mazda CX-3 is still a great choice for those looking for a subcompact crossover that's also fun to drive and has great interior quality.
I've test-driven the CX-3 among other vehicles in this class. It's a nice ride, but the rear setting had no leg room at all for my kids. In fact, the Mazda 3 Sport (hatchback) has more rear legroom than both the CX-3 and CX-30. The Kicks is huge on the inside and was the selling feature for me.
Excellent review. However the Kicks actually won 10 to 7. Nissan for whatever reason publishes the boot capacity as two separate capacities. In this case seats up - 25.3 and seats down for 32.2 cu ft more. That gives the Kicks a total of 57.5, much more than the CX-3. I have a 2021 Kicks and took my tape measure down and got roughly these numbers. As an aside, it is totally implausible that folding the seats down only gives you and extra 7 cu ft. 7 cu ft is a box that is 4 ft by 2 ft by 10 inches.
Thanks for pointing that out! I missed that in my research as I was only looking at what is standard and what is optional. I'll keep it in mind for my next comparison review. Thanks for watching!
I have both of them kicks and cx3, both of them are 2021 model. I find kicks more fun and easy to drive. Kicks have more space at the back seat and the seats are more comfortable than cx3. Over all I like kicks more than cx3.
I've test driven both. But even without test driving and I knew the Mazda won because it does NOT have a CVT. But the Mazda wins for being the premium small crossover.
Test drove the new nissan rogue recently and it sounds similar to your experience with the kicks. Driving it feels strange coming from a 2008 Xterra and my gf's CX5. It has a smooth ride, lighter steering and floats over the road kind of. Can't say that I really care much for this "floating" feeling while driving, though it is a comfortable ride it feels much more artificial and like less of a fun car to drive than a mazda.
Yep, I think Nissan took a more comfort over sporty approach to their cars (apart from the 370Z & GTR) because the Rogue is exactly as you described it when compared to the CX5. I did a review on the new generation Rogue if you want to check that out: th-cam.com/video/w1QWY4vhz1U/w-d-xo.html Are you thinking of going for the Rogue as your next car?
Very helpful. I’m a die hard Mini Cooper guy. I’m looking for something new and a dealership owner friend recommended Kicks. I’ll give it another consideration.
If you stick around my channel in the next few weeks, I will be publishing a review of the Mini Cooper S 4-door if that's something that may peak your interest.
Yea the CX3 was a good little car. Too bad it's discontinued. I have an identical twin 😉😅 j/k, it was just recording myself twice and merging the two videos together.
The reviewer obviously prefers the mazda cx3. However as one of my buddies says reliability is the key with Mazda. He's had had different mazda cars over the past 16yrs.
That's interesting, I think the Nissan Kicks looks more futuristic. But looks are subjective, I like the new BMW 4-series when most hate how it looks haha Thanks for watching!
Nissan and Mitsubishi are working together on their car models. The new Nissan Rogue shares the exact same platform of the Mitsubishi Outlander. Nissan is helping Mitsubishi (the car side of the business at least) get out of financial debt. And Nissan themselves have just recently started turning things around as well. But Nissan does have a pretty big market share, probably bigger than Subaru or Mazda here in North America.
@Tobias Belz we haven't had the Mazda 2 in North America for a while now. I just saw the news that the new European Mazda 2 is a rebadged Yaris (which we also don't get here anymore).
Predictable question... which one? Kicks or CX-3?
Kicks but would be terrified to buy cause of the bad reputation of Nissan CVT!

Expect transmission problems.

How much did buy total cost? Thinking to buy it.

You forgot the telemetry services, kicks has telemetry services and onboard internet service , also kicks Can be turned on remotely from the key fob…

Thanks for the comparison!
Anytime! Make sure you subscribe because I've got a few more comparisons coming down the pipe!
It’s worth noting that the CX-3 earns a Top Safety Pick + rating while the Kicks doesn’t even earn a Top Safety Pick designation.

Nice to have both! Kicks has cvt tranny probably less durable than cx3.
Mazda CX3 kodo “soul of motion” design language is awesome! 🚘
It is amazing and still holds up to the test of time.
I've test driven both. But even without test driving and I knew the Mazda won because it does NOT have a CVT. But the Mazda wins for being the premium small crossover.
Mazda also wins because of AWD, no AWD in kicks

I like my 2022 kicks
Is that a sunroof in the Mazda? I didn't think you could add that as a feature, is it custom?
It's available on the GT trim here in Canada. I know that the CX-3 has fewer options in the United States unfortunately.
The Mazda CX-3 rates far better in IISH crash test. That makes it a better choice than the Nissan Kicks.
Yep, it does. I overlooked that part in the review, my mistake. But I have it noted for the next comparison review.

Anything with a traditional automatic means instant reliability today. Point for Mazda.
Unfortunately I don't get these cars for longer than a week at a time so I can't comment on reliability.
Mazda CX3 hands down for these reasons:
* Traditional transmission (not CVT)
* More style
* Made in Japan
CX-3. Love the split-screen. How the heck did you do that.
Yea the CX3 was a good little car. Too bad it's discontinued.

Nissan Kicks.

Yea, I personally prefer a good driving experience. I don't mind sacrificing some space or newer tech.

I don't understand why Mazda got rid of CX-3 when this segment is starting to heat up
They wanted to go luxury.
Nissan Kicks all the way!
Kicks has multicolor option paint but Mazda CX-3 doesn't have multicolr option paint
No comparison, one can be had with AWD and one can't.
Mazda cx-3 looks more futuristic

2023 Nissan Kicks won out for me.
Nissan is gonna go the way of Mitsubishi at this rate.
It's just going to be the Big 4.
Toyota
Honda
Subaru
Mazda
