as always Mona, i appreciate you for being the ally you are to the LGBT+ community. everything you said was necessary for the audience you reach that we as queer ppl wouldn’t really be able to. i’m glad you mentioned religion, in addition to that so many cis het black people believe that our sexualities, and therefore our humanities as queer ppl aren’t valid, we are less than. until they get clear about the truth and become at the very least respectful of who we are.. we will have progress. (bc it’s not a queer issue, we’ve done and are still doing the work to find the value in ourselves and our NATURAL sexualities when we didn’t have family or communities as young people to respect or affirm us)…it can be a lot when you’ve been ignorant about so much all your life, but if you’re confused about something, ask. if there are frustrations, express them. but do it with respect. we’re all deserving of that.
i also used to take Phelps’ silence another way, but i too appreciate him just being quiet during those specific conversations if he has nothing productive to offer.

@@peachjuice2730 the term cishet is used for specificity, never shade. a lot, if not all of queer/trans ppl made a conscious effort to stop using the word “fish” bc cisgendered heterosexual (cis/cishet) women took offense to that. it made sense. long story short, the topic is very sensitive, and space is being held for all feelings, but cis is not something to feel a way about. there are such bigger issues to be fought.

I agree, nobody is deciding to be a target. Nobody wakes up one day and decides “I’m going to do this bc I WANT to have a target on my back”. It’s not hard to simply not engage with something you don’t like. I primarily find community with the lgbt community as a cishet person, it’s very rare that trans people go outside of their safe spaces. If you don’t like something don’t engage.

Is the cis thing not only an internet problem though? Like for instance, some women refer to their friends as bitches and some don’t play that. But through the internet, nobody is taking the time out to ask first. In real life, with real people you interact with, that’s when you set those boundaries. Some women don’t care to be called cis because that’s what they are, and some women take offense to it. But like the previous example, that’s something to set boundaries on in real life because it’s a case by case thing. People online aren’t gonna stop and ask every single woman if they like being referred to as a cis woman, especially if they are in fact a cis woman. However, unlike some women, the trans community as a whole want to be referred to by their correct pronouns and that’s why online and in real life it’s expected.

Why can everyone say what they don’t want to be called & it be respected. Cis gender was not taught in school (I have a biology degree) so that’s why a lot of people/ women are confused. If a woman don’t want to be called that why can’t it be respected. If someone doesn’t want to be called something in the LGBTQ+ community it’s respected . The conversation that your having is not in context of the two videos that came out( the trans video and Jess response). This conversation your having is about women being upset with trans people. Most women stand with Jess 1. for being brave enough to speak the truth! 2 because she’s a woman and know that we can’t be duplicated in any form. So we get and understand that you don’t want to ruffle any feathers at this time but it’s nothing wrong with simply speaking facts and the truth if you’re gonna speak on the topic.
