This is a great video. While it might show some more games from that time, it still serves as proof that the Vega 3 is on par with the HD 3870, which was relased in november 2007. This essentially means that this little beast can run flawlessly any single game prior to 2008. That's a HUGE library of games, aside from a lot of newer games and emulators. This is a dream for HTPC builders.

4670? I got the DDR3 version! Most reliable card I have, no joke! Works flawlessly everywhere.

My HD4670 is nearing the end of it's life though, as since it's fan stops working frequently I idle at 90C. Goes up to ~120C when playing games, then shuts down. Served me well for 8 years, though.

I've been waiting for this comparison for a long time. The vega 3 sits pretty close to where I expected it to sit. You used the 1gb of the 4850, while when I guesstimated I used the 512mb ver as a reference. Great video!

Vega 11 has been overclocked to 1600MHz which is a 60% overclock over this with double the rops and a bit less than 4 times the shaders. Then get a dual channel memory setup up to 2933 along side the rest of the system being overclocked and watch that destoy this.
Also the major reason integrated can't be better is because motherboards do not allow high enough memory clockspeeds to feed that integrated GPU and the wattage is significantly limited. If the motherboards were better AMD would have sold you better chips. A console can which is why the Xbox One and PS4 have larger GPUs than this. The PS4 had 32 rops where this only has 4.

The case is a bit lackluster but i agree with what you said, if the side panels were slightly better built it could be really nice HTPC. Especially if you can mount a more than half decent small form factor GPU to run arcade\vintage games or a PS2 emulator. (Currently using an old HP small form factor office pc as my living room PC)

Added some 30mm fan to help exhaust heat, but wanted to see about increasing airflow and even trying to add a single slot gpu (a passive 1030 isn't much of an improvement over the 2200g... will just wait for the next APU at this point, the 3300g or whatever it will be called).

nowadays, cheapo Ahtlon 200GE can play Crysis 1920x1080 with onboard Vega graphics.

  • @MusicHavenSG
    @MusicHavenSG 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Actually if you think about it, by extending the case to fit larger GPUs in, by leaving that open, you're not starving any airflow. Although I liked the cleaner look with the stock case length with a short GPU which makes it great for an HTPC, I wonder how far of a gaming PC you can take with the case you extended with the standoffs as well as the Flex PSU.

My Radeon HD 7750 Sapphire (2GB GDDR3) carried my my old rig for over half a decade and assists my Ryzen 3 2200G (not GE) with Vega 8 since it benchmarks just a few under it... Yes that's right a graphics card from 2011-2012 is in the high end... thats not because newer GPU's aren't decent but because the 7750 is one of the most stable radeon cards out there...
Even now the only games it's struggling are brand new ones or ones that have photo realistic graphics such games like: Star Citizen, Black Desert, Dauntless, Anthem and Apex Legends...
The general theme is it lags out around populated areas in these high end games I believe that's likely due to having to render so many custom characters in such a high fidelity it's a tough job for a 6-7 yr old card...
I managed to pick up the slack in most of these games by Overclocking on my RAM, CPU and Graphics Memory Speed frequencies
Getting from 2666mhz in RAM up to 2800Mhz,
then the cpu from 3500mhz (2.5Ghz) to 3850Mhz
and then managed to get the built in graphics from 400Mhz
(for some stupid reason idk ask the man) up to 1600Mhz.
Notice: Keep in mind i'm using a budget build so if you want a supercomputer to play the games i mention on ultra Ryzen 3 isn't enough for you!
I saw a small improvement in
Star citizen and VR Chat by 5 -10 more fps and that's in a 1080 resolution
    Golf with your friends
saw absolutely no improvement at all...
    Black Desert
now allowed me either option of 2560x1440 VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) with the same amount of frames I had prior in 1920x1080
or the option to switch on the remastered while running at slitghly better frames than before (which despite them saying it runs faster after the 1st day I cameback and was for some reason worse in optimisation)
Dauntless: This saw the most dramatic improvement I was now able to manage playing the game faster in 1440 VSR than I did prior to the OC in 1080 this meant that when I played in 1080 with my desktop as 1440P It was almost completely smooth probable around a 20 to 25 frame gain although that maybe be due to optimisation since it's a new game...
I'd test on anthem but I don't have it I just tried the demo which was running at 15fps but even if I could the full game is better optimised so I wouldn't be able to tell how many fps were gained from the oc!
What I can tell you is that in every other game Elite, Defiance 2050, Warframe, Champions Online, and every other game older than 3 yrs will probably run at 4K when OCed some of which will probably run at factory settings...
Remember to be careful and run tests when overclocking and only increase by increments of 0025mhz
until the part you are overclocking crashes in the a benchmark test
then put back it down by 25 and restart and that will be your limit
(due to the lottery luck of overclocking you could reach as far as 4ghz but even if you do don't push past it or your cpu may melt down)
and don't put your voltage any higher than 1.45v unless you wanna fry your cpu
1.35v is commonly reccomended this is generally cause of cpu temperature.
mine gets to a toaster 45-55 Celcius while gaming!
There is a Ryzen setting in power settings for windows 10 computers now I recommend using it!
Sadly now my HD 7750 is the weak link compared to the DDR4 RAM 2666Mhz, 3.5GHZ processor, Vega 8 Graphics and A320M-K motherboard especially overclocked to 2800Mhz, 3.85GHZ and 1600Mhz...
So I am probably gonna sell it and get a better discrete card so I can get better frames on the super high end games... atm it sits at around £115 which is funny cause when i bought it, the card was only worth £79.99 first hand this isn't inflation it's just it benchmarks well against new cards!
