If you're going to replace the heater hose that runs under the distributor, and you don't want to pay $30 or so for the OEM Honda hose 19527-PHK-000 from the stealership for a '97-'01 CR-V, I did the ground work for you (since after some closer inspection under the distributor that hose was SWOLLEN from probably years of oil dripping onto it from a bad distributor o-ring, and the previous owner(s) neglected it). They have epdm heater hoses at Napa for $.99/foot for this size hose. This is a 5/16" (7.9mm) heater hose (NOT 1/4" as stated on Napa's website), and it is 9" long (Not 8" long as stated on Napa's website) so one foot is all you need then cut to length. Napa part number NBH H149. It took me THREE tries to get this correct since Napa's website has the wrong info for this part. Still saved myself $30 though. You're welcome.

The aftermarket distributor I replaced my original with is already starting to fail six months later. I replaced it due to an internal oil leak. The replacement isn't leaking, but it's starting to cause a brief cold misfire most mornings. I wasn't sure if the car was even going to start this morning. Typical aftermarket electronics....
I almost dropped about $500 on a new distributor from Honda today. I'm glad I discovered this video, and kept the original distributor. I'll have the parts tomorrow, and plan on re-installing the original distributor this weekend.
Thanks, you might have saved me $485 with this video.

hey so I accidentally snapped the dog ear on the drive dog and want to replace it and I see that you marked the orientation to put it back on but I was wondering how I could make sure I have the correct orientation on a completely new drive dog that im going to replace the old one with? can I just point the line indent that's only on one side level with the line on the distributor itself and put the new dog on with the line at the same orientation? its an expensive coil on plug conversion distributor so I really don't want to mess it up, Thank you so much in advance

    *Seal not gasket
If it seals a moving part it's a dynamic seal. If the part it seals doesn't move it's a static seal/gasket or O-ring.

I just tried to be careful about disassembly/reassembly so that it all went back together the way it was originally.. I didn't have any timing issues.. And this was done 4.5 years ago still have the Accord still runs well..

At around 140,000 miles the distributor is ready to die. I would not recommend replacing the inner seal unless you are dealing with a distributor with under 80,000 miles on it. Maybe change the outer O-ring, but go no further into the can of worms. New after-market distributors can be had for under $300.00 the last time I bought one a few years ago. Weigh $300.00 against your car quitting on the freeway in traffic.

I have the same two issues - heater hose with hole and distributor leaking oil (which has been happening for a long time). I'm going to replace the distributor entirely along with the hose. I'll keep my OEM distributor if the new one dies, but I did not feel like going the gasket route. It is my beater car that I only drive locally so I'm not terribly concerned if I need to address it in the future.

Yeah, it's easy when the pin comes right out like in your video. Unfortunately, the distributor in my wife's '01 CR-V was one that you have to mallet the pin out. I don't have the punch, the mallet or a way to hold that damn cam without it rotating whilst I whack away. I just took the L and cut my losses when I realized the futility of continuation without the appropriate tools and time and purchased a brand new distributor on Amazon for around $60. Hopefully it works because I don't want to shell out $300 for a new one from Napa. Prolly one of the most anticlimactic repairs ever. Really bummed when I removed the clamp and tried to push the pin out and.....nothing.
