    Was pleasantly surprised of how this performed vs a KnightRunner or the MST Discovery! Definitely a great package overall for trailing and a bit of scale-rock crawling. A great all-rounder, once you spend some time maybe making an interior for it.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was surprised too! I thought it would do problems 1 and 5. I still reckon it could do 4 but it'd be rough on it. For an all-rounder, though - especially with that second gear - yeah, beaut truck that gives those others a run for the money!

    • @YoShImUrA53
      @YoShImUrA53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCTNT I was thinking... I believe having portals, and an overall heavy rig are a huge advantage in your rock problems.
      See how this, the Cross RC Emo and the TRX4, and to a degree, Axial's Gladiator, all do really well?
      Only Element's Sendero HD overall lightness can overcome these obstacles with equal results.
      Gmade's GS02F being straight-axled too, but a jack of all trades with O/D, 2-speed (more weight), a bit in the middle of both, maybe?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YoShImUrA53 clearance and center of gravity are usually a compromise in opposition.
      The GS02F is nearly as good a performer as the Capra, from memory (I may have to test them again together to see).
      On my peaky problems, portals are an advantage.
      On other technical crawling where clearance isn't as big a factor, perhaps the straight axle rigs will do better.
      Good thing to think about. Definitely worth exploring. Thanks!

    • @YoShImUrA53
      @YoShImUrA53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCTNT Absolutely on the compromise in opposition! but there is the interesting part on how both are being helping the rigs that have both. A bit like how a heavy "sportscar" like the R35 Nissan GT-R usses its mass to go faster in the corners.
      I wonder what would happen if you put portals on the Sendero HD, or straight axles on a TRX4, how it would affect their performance, for better, or worse...

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YoShImUrA53 the yang to this yin of swapping straight for portal or vice versa is the intended terrain. I could make a convincing case for portals on my course and a convincing case for swapping to straight on my local river rock area, I think.
      I guess that's the same kind of thing as motor racing teams tuning for a specific race track, to some extent.
      For an all round approach, it's probably personal preference for they most part. Interesting to think about!

      I've got a tire test series playlist and we do use the course (not the 6 problems) for comparison, in both wet and dry. Hi i just have one small question since im pritty new to rc crawling. What size 2s lipo do you recommend to get the longest run time without adding too much weight and with overheating with time

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first 10 pre-orders shipped with the 6200mAh 2S 30C battery I used in this video. It held the truck back on these problems a bit, so if you keep it to 4000mAh or less it'd be less noticeable. The good news with 2S is that it lasts longer than 3S batteries (if all else is equal). Heat won't be a problem for damage, so put in whatever you like.
      For reference, this 6200mAh battery will deliver 1.5 to 2.5 hours runtime, depending on how it was driven (higher motor load and/or motor speeds draws more current). So even a 3000mAh battery will be very good for runtime and it'd not noticeably hinder this already heavy vehicle.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure you can tow with it and many trailers will fit, but lighter weight is better for this kind of crawler.
      To get the height to your liking you can usually change the height of the draw bar's connecting arm just before the hitch.
      I bend my own from mild steel then thread it to suit whatever the vehicle and trailer combo is. A cheap m3 die and vice are handy to have for this purpose.

      It isn't in the same league as those. If you're after a crawler, the deadbolt and the enduro se will both out-perform the RGT Rescuer. But that's just in pure technical driving. All three of them have done my 6 problem course, so you can watch to see how they went.

      G'day, yep that's right, 3S battery will stress the components much more - the motor will take it, but the ESC will get very hot and the gears and shafts will also be under more stress.
      To be clear, you *could* run this on 3S, but 2S is completely ample. And this is coming from the guy who runs most things on 3S and some on 4S. The Rescuer is pretty much perfect on 2S - and of course, 2S will give you 50% longer runtime with the same rated capacity battery as 3S. It's all upside for 2S, basically! Cheers

    Everything is good but for the love of God stop calling the courses you’ve laid out ‘problems’!

      It works for me. Easier to say than "obstacle". It's a problem to solve - I have a bouldering and rock climbing background and we called the various challenges there "problems". I know RC is more like motorsport but it's what I knew, so I stuck with it.
      I am interested though, you're the second person to mention this. What would you call them? Obstacles? You said courses but problem 2 is literally two rocks. Hardly a course... What do you think?

      Weird insult but fair enough. Probably more than six, honestly!
