I don’t suppose you could do a head to head of the Intruder and the 136100v2. And maybe the V1. I really like the Suzuki to the extent I have 2 one that’s mostly for looks and the other I tried to make into a better crawler. I got some aluminum Beadlocks and added the FTX heavy clamp rings up front to add weight down low and forward. I switched the ESC to a HW 1080, switched the tires to Hyrax and trimmed the fenders to accommodate them, I removed the foam from the spare tire and drilled holes in the internal headlock clamp ring and removed weight from the rear tire mounting plate to lighten the back up further and made a revised bumper from the ford bronco on the same chassis to increase the approach angle. It’s not lethal but it’s a lot more capable of crawling than the stock version. It would be interesting to see a face off against the intruder and the 136100 V2 after you have done phase one mods to both
Just got mine. Looks amazing and drives well (trailing) with heavier wheels and on 3s :) Only slight annoyance is that it "runs away" a bit on down hill starts. Perhaps a better motor will help - if it's not an esc-issue? (looking at the Quicrun 540 30t brushed as possible option?) Other than that, amazing car for the prize. Thanks for the review - it helped me make the decision to buy it. 👍
My pleasure! Yes, there's no issue with the ESC, but a motor with stronger magnets and more turns (but mostly, better quality magnets) will help with drag brake. Lower gearing also. I'm planning on fitting a Holmes Torquemaster Pro 540 40T, for example, when I do my upgrading soon (among other things). Glad you're enjoying the machine!
14:15 will be wet for months n months...least you don't have to deal with mountains of the white stuff! You should bring the fambly up to Canuckistan in the winter sometime. it'd be an experience for sure. Like in Alberta last Jan, it was -45 C every day for about a month haha....I can't complain about last winter, we got maybe 6' of snow all winter whereas Christmas 2022 we got 6'...in 3 days!
@@RCTNT Cool....haha downright COLD if you come in Jan haha. Ever stepped outside when it's -30 C? - 40? Even after experiencing it for 60+ winters I still find it cold. -15 thou, that's sweater weather! this past winter I didn't even put on my winter coat once, just a quilted flannel shirt.
@muskokamike127 temperature is relative to what you're used to. I'm wearing two shirts and a hoodie when it's 1°C in the mornings, but then when I was in qld for the comp it was 14°C evenings and I had shorts and shirt on while the locals were rugged up. Acclimatisation is real 😊
If you have a set of Axial Ripsaws on hand, those are 4.3" diameter. They are a great height for portal rigs and may provide better grip for this little guy. I'm impressed it was able to do anything on the problems with that big, beautiful bumper :) . It's too bad the 2in1 seems to be a bit lackluster after the other "BS" combo worked well in the FMS. I definitely push the Fusion SE for it's low speed control and low cost prowess, but I agree brushed combos are fantastic and some designs dictate a 540 length can (or less). The other guy I watch has a pre-release Injora ESC that's supposed to be coming out at $29 US. You take that and a 35T 3 slot and you'd have a really economical, controllable setup. I'd bet a better esc would give you even better control and brake, but you'd need the non-esc version of that Rx to keep with the transmitter so we're faced with the downside of the RTR 2in1
I won't miss this radio system if I change. Will stay brushed, but have a few changes to make. Am also fitting 4.19 tires and period correct wheels, they're on the way. Gonna be good!
2:39 that chassis looks like it's aluminum on the outside with a polymer inside. Is that true? I've got loads of that stuff I got off a buddy who makes tear drop trailers. He uses it for the outside skin. It's very light, rigid and durable.
@@RCTNT I wonder if they anodized the whole thing then broke the edges removing the anodization? I know NZ isn't the same, but I rec'd an order from someone in NZ. I saw the .nz in the email and thought it was a scam. Nope, they placed an order. They have family up here and it was a gift. They googled wooden signs, muskoka and my name came out on top.
Hey buddy, I’m getting ready to put that Ascent upgrade together from last week. Do you know of any quick and easy solution to picking up all of that hardware or do I just need to look through hardware bundles or have you found one that includes all of the nuts and bolts? I think I have most of it on an Amazon list, but some of the longer M3 bolts are ending up having to be separate purchases. Thank you again, looking forward to this video as well. ❤
I’m surprised it didn’t do better on the 6 problems, it seems to have better features than even shorter wheelbase 136100v2 which was good for smiles per miles value but found the 6 challenges hard going. I think it managed to complete 2 of them. The intruder has a low forward mounted motor , a longer wheelbase, is also a bit wider so it has the ingredients to do better on the 6 problems. It seems the scale interior and the roof rack added enough weight up high to really hurt its stock performance.
That pretty much sums up the head to head in stock form at least. The upgrades you've done sound very good. The weakness of the 136100 is the front cvds. They break. 8 think the Intruder is better, but really needs that weight down low to help offset the body. It's potential is higher than the cheaper models, but you've really gotta spend the money to get it there.
When it comes to brushed motors in my crawlers my choice is always the Holmes Crawlmaster Expert 13t and I run a 12 tooth pinion with a 56 tooth spur gear.
Could you hear me cheering for it?! 😂 Just a few problems on a few Problems… -love the look of it though. Considering it for a trail truck. Def needs some upgrades and I bet it will rock and roll!
I wish RGT was readily available in the US. Ive owned, or still own, just about every crawler brand out there. Including cross rc. I picked up the RGT jimny off Amazon a couple of years ago and i really enjoy it. I still have it. There are a few RGT rigs I'd like to pick up like the rescuer, explorer, intruder, the one that is set up kind of like an ecto but its so hard to find a place to buy them from that doesn't take a month to get or a place i feel comfortable buying them. On eBay they want $100-$200 over retail price. Asia Tee wants $100 for shipping. Its so frustrating! Lol.
Atees has good pricing on shipping and the cars themselves are often cheaper too. Have you checked for this one? asiate.es/aff?l=233969&i=76070 The shipping can't really be avoided. Most of my cars have such a cost. But the overall price is still good.
Watch my Rescuer videos yet? They'll answer this in detail. I also compare this car to the Rescuer in the article, as linked in this video. Tl;Dr I'd take the Rescuer, but it'd be close, despite the huge performance gap.
Where do we find parts for this. None on AliExpress. Mine seems to have parts R86809, R86815 and R86867 Can’t seem to find anywhere in the world. Do I have old parts or what?
@MillyAire ok, best thing to do is message the Ali store you bought the car from and ask for that list of parts. In my experience, they'll be able to get them for you. If you're in Australia, there are stores that have these in their online catalogues. Though they're out of stock, it means there's a retail channel for them. Can be ordered, generally. Have you blown an axle or are you planning ahead?
@@RCTNT it was a steering housing broke on arrival and store ignored the request. Now it seems the parts I have on it don’t match the ex86170 catalogue. Maybe old original parts or something.
Sure, either of those. Go higher for this one. (Availability varies across brands, and I'm going by feel. Precision doesn't matter too much in this case.)
This one for looks and premium chassis, and the shorter body. Be prepared to upgrade for rock performance. EX86190 for the better crawler and trail rig out of the box. Longer wheelbase, more broadly versatile. Both are great.
To learn about its limits, and to get a baseline to compare against with mods, and to challenge assumptions - sometimes a car will really surprise with how capable (or not) it really is.
@@RCTNT I was just giving a hard time. You always put out great content, and are really honest about things. One of the few that I trust. keep up the good work!!!
With all those cars back there, what’s your “go to” car for trailing…. Or. Which is your favorite. I only have two and one’s a really old wheely king converted to a crawler and at time I can’t decide what to drive. What a dilemma.. lol
haha yes, I understand! Well, it's a 3-way toss-up for best trail rig: Cross RC BC8 Mammoth, Boom Racing BRX01, and Axial SCX6. These three are used the most on the trails, although I do mix things up regularly with others too :)
Nice looking trail rig, it definitely has its limitations in its stock form.i can think of many upgrades and modifications I’d do to this bang good Rc I really like the body though. Good review😎
RGT have been making really great stuff in recent years. They're just going from strength to strength. I'd still like to see less IP infringement but they're improving on that front. It's a lovely car isn't it.
Instantly thought, on the rocks, change tyre,s, I change my tyre,s on rescuer, for proline hyrax,s, wow, what a difference, nicely done 👍with front side bar,s, to show people how they unclip at the front, 👍,,thinks all the intruder needs is a change of tyre,s , & maybe, savox digital servo, something like that, 👍
Yep, tires and servo are the biggest things. You could even live with both, depending on what you want from the thing. I want to get wheel wells drawn up this weekend hopefully, that'll help complete the scale side of it too.
Not really worth it. A better motor will help, but before that, better tires and strategically added weight down low, biased forward. After that, yes, motor. Then servo. Then ESC & radio if you feel it's warranted. My 2c anyway!
@@RCTNT Was planning to get one, as far as wheels I got some Hyrax's with beadlocks laying around including a 1080A G2 that I havent used.. only thing that worries me now is a remote

Very inappropriate landscape, generally, yes! But, that's the testing ground, so if anyone wants to know how it crawls compared to the dozens of other crawlers tested here already, they can see for themselves. Listen to the ~90 secs from 10:47 in this video for context. It'll be useful, hopefully! Cheers
For a crawling-focused channel, I have nearly 50 videos about faster cars. Dunno if that means I'm doing it wrong or doing it right! More are coming. th-cam.com/play/PLP6qQhzesLdqB-hsyD_uGaqcsJe0vF0a0.html

@Rc_impulse that's weird given its a Chinese company and you're on the same continent as them. Being in Australia I know we get a better price than USA folks do for RGT and similar.
i dont understand,it cant crawl and it doesnt have a 2 speed trans for trailing.oh and its inexcusable to use a 2 in 1 esc these days unless its a 90.00 dollar chinese special for the kids. so to be true to you words you should be telling us all that it sucks.
That's a subjective conclusion. It doesn't suck. It's crawl performance sucks, but there's potential. I was 100% honest and complete in sharing my thoughts, observations and conclusions here.
I have noticed that you RC professionals review everything they send you using the same parameters over and over again. You have gotten into a mental loop that you can't get out of because you do it automatically, so you don't ask yourself the right questions depending on the vehicle you are testing. This rc car is clearly a trail model, geared toward acceptable realism because of the beautiful bodywork, the attention to detail such as the ladder on the rear, roof rack, full lights, etc. I look at the video and here is a test that makes no sense in my opinion. The 6 obstacles have a very relative importance for this rc model. In the perspective of realism (clearly sought in this rc model) those obstacles are ridiculous, absurd, unreal. A ridiculous test that obviously ridicules a vehicle NOT created for it. On the finale, as if that were not enough, here is the usual “change the tires, add weight, change the electronics, change the engine, etc. etc. If I want crawler performance I buy a crawler. I don't spend money on a trail car and then turn it into a crawler. Similarly, if I want a trail car, I don't worry about crawler performance, because I prefer realism. Don't you think? Every vehicle has its own characteristics and is created and designed to meet different types of customers. If you don't consider the purposes, the inherent characteristics. the type of clientele the company is catering to, you are just throwing everything into one big cauldron. Without any distinction, depersonalizing the different purposes of different products. Why review a trail product as if it were a crawler? It doesn't make sense. Please get out of this mind loop, or all reviews will be the same as all others. Mere mindless repetition that trivializes and puts everything on the same level. I hope this message of mine will be read in the right light. Mine is meant to be constructive criticism. And I add that I am writing it to you because you are one of those I appreciate the most. So please think about it. Distinguish yourself from the crowd and use the intellectual honesty to understand what is in front of you and tailor your reviews to the different characteristics of different vehicles. Thank you
I think maybe you're missing a bit of context or are unfamiliar with what Craig has created on this channel throughout a few years of dedicated testing. It's a point of reference that is more or less consistent with all the rigs he's tested. Being them better or worse at it. This is a great tool to measure performance for those interested in it. There's no real value in a drive in the woods that tells me nothing ANY trail truck or crawler could do. Yes, it doesn't make much sense to individually test this as a pure crawler, but as explained by him before, during and after the problems this is a truck that won't do great on the problems because of its scale details and wheelbase. But this will give us all a reference on its potential once you upgrade it. Actually, if you read through your own review, which seemed to lack any proper listening to the full review, your points are overstated and repeated for no particular reason other than yelling at the clouds. If there's something that makes this channel special is how comprehensive the reviews are, from the detailed overview and first impressions, to the performance testing and if we get lucky, even upgraded series of them. No channel that I know of does all of these, let alone at this level of informative, concise, unbiased, passionate, and entertaining reviewing. So maybe, have a drink, sit, relax, and watch it again (or maybe try some other day) and think about watching it with fresh eyes for what Craig is trying to convey here? Just for your own benefit.
Thanks, I took your comment in the right light. Even if I disagree with some of it, I always appreciate this kind of effort, thank you for taking the time. However, you've caught the one video where I do say the "standard" mods, because for a crawler, I think it does actually need it! You may notice I'm careful to usually not recommend such things. I go out of my way on this aspect. This car is pretty. But it's going to be a poor trail rig with the default power combo and gearing. It's very slow and reverse is worse again. To address this, one could slap a Fusion in and call it a day. But I spent the time considering brushed motor options that are compatible with the stock esc. Is this not an intellectually honest approach? The car has issues with its running gear, even as a trail rig. The steering servo is slow and fades quickly. Again, how can this be addressed without replacing the servo? The problem with this car is that it isn't a kit - wouldn't it be glorious if it were! But I can't criticise that on camera because I'm reviewing what it is, not what it could be. But the electronics are what lets it down, so that's what I discussed. The tires are too firm. They're also too big, given we want a nice scale car here. The body gets us some of the way there. I've got smaller tires, period correct wheels, and gearing for the diffs that I think (I'm guessing) will fit, to help improve the car. I'll also be testing a few different brushed motors and pinions until I can get it driving nicely. It wants to be a great trail rig, but in its current state, it will be mediocre at best. Again, how would you have me do the video if not discussing these shortcomings? Lastly, the 6 problem course: I emphasised that it isn't appropriate for this car. I even said at the start that it would probably not do any of them. But the point of running all cars over this course is to give a relative comparison of ability. Every video it seems someone isn't happy about the 6 problems, but you've gotta zoom out and look at the context: how does this drive on the different obstacles? They are meant to represent the most extreme version of terrain you may take a 1/10 scale crawler over. How does it compare to how the Rescuer did it, for example? What about other scale rigs? The point here is that we can see what the car is like. There's objective data now (as objective as I can be) so we have an idea of this model's ability, relative to other options. Is this not a fair, objective and honest approach? I said throughout the video that this is a scale vehicle rather than a dedicated crawler. As it has issues on that front, I tried to show them too. Went to pains to demonstrate it. Look, I get your point, but I'm not convinced it's applied fairly to this video. I'll think on what you said some more and again, I appreciate your thoughts here. Maybe I'm missing something. But mindless repetition and running in mental loops is not my thing on this channel; at least, I've worked to ensure that wasn't the case!! Did I fail? I'll have to think about it. Cheers
Thanks yoshi, just saw your comment. I think context is the missing element here. @christianrotola3, I mean, look at the last update video I did for a big release. Was it just a standard 'add weighted wheels and a better servo'? You can judge for yourself: th-cam.com/video/o3qRo39Tg3w/w-d-xo.html Or even just look at the article I wrote about this car. I said in it that I usually am quite reserved on throwing upgrades at a car mindlessly. But this vehicle really needs them. Too slow for trail, too weak to crawl. It can be better. I really do try for out-of-the-box thinking as much as practical. I'm not here to sell you a car. I'm here to share my thoughts and opinions about something we all love. In this case, I suspect you've simply caught me on a video where the 'in-the-box' approach actually fits this car very well. (Though I'm still hoping to have printable wheel arches ready for you guys!)

Thanks Greg. For every video, every advice and every article 😊👍 true legend.
It's rewarding for me that it's helpful to you! Thank you.
Great honesty as always. How’s your short course truck summary coming?
It's coming. Been focused on crawlers for a bit with Nationals, but there's more coming soon. Thanks for bearing with me!
I remember you telling me about the snow in Dec 2022. That was crazy eh!
And yeah Mike, I'd love to visit. That would be really cool.
Thanks for reviewing this one, I’ve been very curious about it
Absolute beauty of a runner! Definitely on the list to add to the fleet as a “trail truck” to take out on short/slow hikes 👌👌
I think it's going to be one of my favourite rigs, once I get the speed and ability sorted. So pretty!
@@RCTNT Yeah that sounds awesome! Those of us with deep parts bins can do a lot of these upgrades at "no cost" 😁
Yes that helps, though I try to keep that context away when looking at upgrades for everyone!
Looks like that receiver would bind right up to the MT12 with the multi protocol module? Bangood's trust in your content is well placed.
I'm honestly not sure, I am not familiar with the M12, sorry!
2:39 that chassis looks like it's aluminum on the outside with a polymer inside. Is that true? I've got loads of that stuff I got off a buddy who makes tear drop trailers. He uses it for the outside skin. It's very light, rigid and durable.
Nah it's CNC alu, with the anodising not applied along those accent lines. I guess they masked it somehow during finishing. Looks good.
Winning at seo, that's the way!
And yes you could be right about cutting away after anodising. Hmm
Thanks. I keep various hardware here already so can't recommend a hardware bundle, I'm sorry. Enjoy the build, I hope it goes well.
All the extra channels be good for a light controller then populate the bumpers I like this
You could do that, sure.
Short wheel base, this RGT Toyota LC71 is very beautiful !!
Great detailed review 👍 thanks for sharing, much appreciated 👊
My pleasure, thank you for watching 😊
The axles looks like the Pro Runners' and there are brass for the axles. Maybe they can fit on the Intruder? Nice video btw.
It's likely the hubs are similar. I've got some gears coming for them too. Will have a tinker and report back in the upgrade video.
When it comes to brushed motors in my crawlers my choice is always the Holmes Crawlmaster Expert 13t and I run a 12 tooth pinion with a 56 tooth spur gear.
The best gearing and turns for a car will vary, based on its final drive and intended purpose. But that's a great motor, isn't it 😎
Could you hear me cheering for it?! 😂 Just a few problems on a few Problems…
-love the look of it though. Considering it for a trail truck. Def needs some upgrades and I bet it will rock and roll!
I agree. I'll probably go to town on upgrading this one. Body is worth the effort.
@@RCTNT Very first thing… find a Toyota Badge for the grill! Huge performance upgrade there!!!
I mean, that goes without saying. I have a discerning and intelligent audience, after all!
Have you checked for this one?
asiate.es/aff?l=233969&i=76070
The shipping can't really be avoided. Most of my cars have such a cost. But the overall price is still good.
I cannot wait to get one. Might work out that its the FTX version i get. I plan on running it with one of LRP's crawler motors
This one will reward some tuning efforts I think!
How does this stand against the RRGT Rescuer (Rgt Ex86190)? Which one would you pick if you could only pick one? Thanks for any advice!
Watch my Rescuer videos yet? They'll answer this in detail. I also compare this car to the Rescuer in the article, as linked in this video. Tl;Dr I'd take the Rescuer, but it'd be close, despite the huge performance gap.
❤❤❤❤thanks for sharing, from Alberta Canada
You are so welcome!
Just picked up one of these and hasn't delivered yet. Looking forward to your review.
It's fabulous, I hope you enjoy it!
Where do we find parts for this. None on AliExpress.
Mine seems to have parts R86809, R86815 and R86867
Can’t seem to find anywhere in the world.
Do I have old parts or what?
What parts in particular are you after? The ones you listed above? I'm not quite clear what you're asking, sorry.
@@RCTNT yes parts listed above. Nobody seems to know them
@MillyAire ok, best thing to do is message the Ali store you bought the car from and ask for that list of parts. In my experience, they'll be able to get them for you.
If you're in Australia, there are stores that have these in their online catalogues. Though they're out of stock, it means there's a retail channel for them. Can be ordered, generally.
Have you blown an axle or are you planning ahead?
@@RCTNT bought it in England 😂 they’re useless at radio-controlled
@@RCTNT it was a steering housing broke on arrival and store ignored the request. Now it seems the parts I have on it don’t match the ex86170 catalogue.
Maybe old original parts or something.
Like your presentation. Subbed. Keep it nerdy.
It's what I do!
It would have to be a 13t or 15t motor, there's no 14t on the link you put.
Sure, either of those. Go higher for this one. (Availability varies across brands, and I'm going by feel. Precision doesn't matter too much in this case.)
I’m honestly so torn between this and the LC76 (FTX Tracker / RGT EX86190)
This one for looks and premium chassis, and the shorter body. Be prepared to upgrade for rock performance.
EX86190 for the better crawler and trail rig out of the box. Longer wheelbase, more broadly versatile.
Both are great.
That sounds like justification for both… 😅. Thanks man, appreciate your opinion as always!
It unintentionally does seem that way, doesn't it! Lol sorry!
(not sorry)
Man why you beat this truck up for!! She's for the trails!!!😆
Thank you kindly. All good, I don't mind criticism either. Cheers
Thanks for your honest review :)
It was my pleasure to make for you. Thanks for watching!
I want one just because it looks good.
That may just be its biggest selling point! Though after a few upgrades it's gonna be niiiiice!
I wonder if it performs even better on the Hobbywing 1080, but then again need to change the radio system too 😅😂
Not really worth it.
Fair enough. Well, the thing should work with most any radio system and those parts, so take your pick really!
❤😮❤!

Hola Amigo como estas , este toyota corto se ve muy bien y las llantas tienen un tamaño perfecto , muchas gracias ❤❤
I like them too. Though I'm going to fit smaller ones to better suit the body. Have a few things to do on it! Sure is a pretty model, isn't it!
Its more difficult landscape for this car. But its good car with other tires 1.9 😉👍👍
Cheers
J ai reçu le mien samedi.on verra à l'essai. Merci à toi et nouveau abonné depuis la France 😉👍👍
🍻 Awesome! I hope you enjoy it, and welcome 👋
Could you do a review on something that’s not a crawler, it’s ok though
For a crawling-focused channel, I have nearly 50 videos about faster cars. Dunno if that means I'm doing it wrong or doing it right! More are coming.
th-cam.com/play/PLP6qQhzesLdqB-hsyD_uGaqcsJe0vF0a0.html
Your doing it great, just I am more of a bashed person, you do you though
Thanks. The next few videos are crawlers but I've got an awesome value brushless buggy coming soon, Kyosho TRD Tacoma, Hobao 10SC kit, and a couple others too. Plenty of fast stuff in the pipeline! Cheers
Es la misma escala del FMS Machigan (1/8)🤔
I can't speak to that, but given the Toyota Bundera is a short wheelbase car, 1/8 is probably about right, yeah.
Nice.!! 👍 👍 👍
I was number 2 to like this video 💯💪🙉🙈🙊👀🤷 and first to comment 💯 cool looking truck
Hey hey, it's been a while! Hi 😊 Yeah she's a pretty rig!
@@RCTNT yeah I have been busy with work and my youngest son. He is bake living with me. I like the colors of the truck
This is available in my region for $520 US converted from Indian rupees. 😢 I’d get it if it were $ 350-400
That's only a shade more than our price too, converted from AUD. Pretty crazy.
@@RCTNT sadly as we go east from the USA the right way around lol things get pretty pricey:(
@Rc_impulse that's weird given its a Chinese company and you're on the same continent as them. Being in Australia I know we get a better price than USA folks do for RGT and similar.
It’s a good thing I’m making more money at my new job…😂
Lol gotta feed the beast
i dont understand,it cant crawl and it doesnt have a 2 speed trans for trailing.oh and its inexcusable to use a 2 in 1 esc these days unless its a 90.00 dollar chinese special for the kids. so to be true to you words you should be telling us all that it sucks.
That's a subjective conclusion. It doesn't suck. It's crawl performance sucks, but there's potential. I was 100% honest and complete in sharing my thoughts, observations and conclusions here.
That is based on a full sized vehicle that is mostly bought by Yummy mummies to do the school run in, rarely will it see rocks or dirt.
Lol not in Australia
You can judge for yourself:
th-cam.com/video/o3qRo39Tg3w/w-d-xo.html
Or even just look at the article I wrote about this car.
