An interesting discussion. A very important point missed was a discussion about rocker. The growing increase in rocker, tip and rail, has made a HUGE effect on float as well as under foot #. If you took your 95 ski from 15 years ago and added the ton of rocker the big fat skies have(38-50% or more) you'd find they ski pow a whole lot better. Conversely, if you took all the massive rocker out of the big fatties they would ski not nearly as well.
@@bikerider270 Hi, I have the La Machine on order, for long term use in Hakkoda Aomori. Did you get them or have any suggestions for boots, skins and bindings please? I confess to being a beginner having only rented skis years ago in Japan, and so I am looking to start again late in life!
Ordered the G3 zed 12 tech bindings. Pomoco skins when the time comes. Boots may be the some Dabelo model I am looking at. Plans permitting I can get to Japan before the snow melts in 2024 Very early and warm spring this year I see.
@@bikerider270 I have skied the original La Machine 126 waist width this season for couple days. I would say it's so amazing to ski in deep days. So much float which is expected but yet super easy to turn that I couldn't believe it's 126 under foot. It's very light and I paired them with a griffon duke pt 12 for BC. Totally love it!
It is clear that you are an expert skier. However your comments may influence skiers of less ability to choose 124's in either Furano or Niseko and that is fraught with danger. It's fine on piste, but in the trees, skiing the fall line? Great video but really needs a disclaimer. Although lesser skiers probably can't ski the fall line in trees.

Good point Rick. Thanks for that.
More of that please.
I agree, I’ve been riding 108 in the powder there but want something a touch wider between 115-125mm
I’m looking at Faction La Machina at 126 waist width for next season. Light weight for climbing and flat at center with tip and tail rocker.
