Thanks jana, you're welcome. i did find having a tradie hubby helpful with setting mine up, but once you've got it all set up to fit your donk, it's very quick to put on and off from now on. are you happy with it? i should charge sopris a fee ha ha! would love to see a pic, how many hands is your donk? maybe you can inbox me a pic on on Facebook peace donkeys australia? all the best with your trekking adventures. are you in Aus?.
it would be better if you moved your britches little higher, to the widest part of the hip muscle so about 3 inches higher on him, the back cinch is more important to be tighter than front one on donkey too, just passing on from my own mistakes, happy trekking I would also carry few extra snap clips with straps those can pull and bend out.
I'd be careful with that table as it looks a bit long and could cause some problems in rough country. Looks like a fairly good system but I think I'd prefer a diamond or double diamond hitch. Great little animal.
Why did you choose the Sopris 1 over the Rookie Saddle, was there a particular reason? I'm really considering one of these saddles for my standard donkey for her comfort but am curious as to why you chose the saddle you did. Thank you for posting this video!
hi paso, the rookie info on the sopris website states it is a scaled down version for training, and i wanted a sturdy system as i wasn't doing training, i'm doing it for real and didn't want to import something all the way to australia and find it wasn't strong enough. i also liked the deluxe panniers because there have easy access pockets at the front and back so you don't have to rummage around the whole pack looking for something you might need quickly.
have been looking for something that will work for my donkeys, can you please let me know exactly which panniers you got, was it the rookie or intermediate? thanks. great videos!
Hi jana, i got the deluxe panniers they have the side pockets. i find their website very hard to negotiate. i put the link here, but you have to scroll down nearly to the bottom just before the rookie saddles. there are a few options. the deluxe system including the saddle is $599 USA dollars. if you are in australia, be careful as i got caught with customs because i bought two which added to more than $1000 after converting to aussie dollar and had to pay customs duty and fill out forms back and forth which took about an extra 3 weeks to sort out. www.soprisllamas.com/llamasystem.html
hi lela, the hooks on this packsaddle, although very strong, are very narrow, designed for the flat metal bar of the panniers which attach horizontally. I think it would be very difficult to attach ropes or leather straps of more traditional panniers as they tend to be vertical. hope that makes sense, but in short, no, I don't think they would work very well.
Hi Trent, no, they don't, they are meant to fit a llama, but fit donkeys ok, but certainly not a horse which is a shame because they are quite flexible and not rigid like the wooden/metal kind and soft on their back.
Another great video from Peace donkeys.
That's so awesome, great animals! Cute lady❤💋
finally got my sopris panniers. for my donkey..and thank goodness for your video otherwise i would never have worked out how to fit them on!!!

Where do you buy all that gear here in Australia? Is it specific for a donkey or do you have to adjust say a pony size?

hello Im just wondering do they have enough adjustment to fit a full size horse ?

Thankyou what a shame I like the design of them and the price. I didn't think they wold fit a full horse but I thorough I wold ask just in case.
yeah, no worries mate. Maybe ask people who have been using horse ones, get some advice.
