Also good to mention the decathlon running belts. Pretty good quality for the price, just size up 1 size and you should be good to go

I would say REI might be the closest US equivalent to decathlon. Might be fun to do a similar video for REI. great video as always.

REI is a good option, not always cheap but not crap. Dick's Sporting Goods is worth a look.

Decathlon is brilliant. Those £5.99 tops are great, I’ve had a few and even done some races in them. I spend a bit more on their shorts as they have some with almost a built in belt to hold stuff but even those don’t break the bank.

Swearing by the Decathlon running underwear. Lasts forever! There are two lengths. If you're sensitive to chafing, definitely get the slightly longer one!

Had the hydration vest for a good few months. Good value for money and a great budget option. Upgraded to a Salomon one which I do prefer the fit of, but the initial vest was a great starter

100% agree with this - my son recently trained and completed the Manchester marathon all kitted out (except shoes) from Decathlon. Brilliant quality.

Nice quality now at Decathlon. I’ve used the summer caps and under shorts Lycra boxers for some time now and they wash repeatedly really well, important now it’s getting warmer and they get sweaty!

I've had that exact model of hydration vest for 2 years and it's been fantastic. I've taken it out hundreds of times, including the first time I ran a 'marathon' length run and its been great.
I'm personally not a fan of running with a bladder (I did on that marathon run though) and normally run with just 250ml soft flasks and it's only on longer runs (>25k) where I'll take my larger pack which will take x2 500ml soft flasks.
It's got a pocket for your phone, a pocket for nutrition + pockets for x2 of their 250ml soft flasks (which have the best caps of any soft flask I've tried!), and if you don't run with the bladder there is room in the back for a small first aid kit and a packdown coat if the weather looks a bit squiffy. Highly recommended.

Decathlon is class. Only complaint is local shop doesn't have their latest shoes in stock or display. T shirts cheap socks cheap. Plus what other sport shops are there. The days of Olympus sport are over....

I'm a great fan of the lycra boxers but also they do merino boxers and t shirts which are comparatively cheap with better smell resistance 😊

Always start off well hydrated. A hydration vest is good - but i can happily(?) run 16 miles while carrying a 20oz/600ml bottle of water. If I have to bin it half way, I may buy another one at a corner store or petrol station.

    • @FordyRuns
      @FordyRuns  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

It’s heavy with that amount of water no doubt

    • @stevenlowry1833

@@FordyRuns Sure lots of pros and cons with carrying a water bottle. But if cash is tight, the hydration vest would be last on my list. And i think that I would not bring water unless I was running for more than 1 hour....

Not a fan of their shoes, but I have lots of stuff from Decathlon. Amazing value for money, and some products are as good if not better than premium brands. The only product I got from them that I was disappointed in was a running jacket that didn't stop even a fairly mild drizzle. My favorite socks, singlets, and running belts are from Decathlon

Only thing to watch out for with the hydration vest is that if you’re a larger runner the “one size fits all” sizing might be a bit small. I wear an XL in the Salomon vests and the Evadict vest was too small for me. They do look good though, I have friends that love them.

Shoes wise would always recommend checking online outlet sites. After having a gait analysis done at a local running shop, i got my first 'proper' pair of road shoes from Asics outlet. A previous years shoe for under £50. (Bought trails from the running shop and got the previous years Asics goretex trail shoe for only 80 quid which I thought was decent)
That running vest looks well worth a go 🙌 I got my first block of half training gear from Sport Shoes and some items came up close in price. Will check decathlon out when I start Marathon training, thanks Chris!

When you watch the video Fordy does clearly declare the arrangement he had with Decathlon here, which is in no way nefarious - honesty through and through, and a genuine help in the sea of social media marketing 👍
