Hi Stian I can't find words to describe how happy and excited I am about what you did. Thank you endlessly for reviving an important part of my memories and making them live again for me and for my future generations. Also, many thanks to all these good people for the comments that really warm my heart. Best regards, Petar
This is what I like the most. Watches that has an emotional value to the owner. I've serviced about 75 watches a year for the last few years. And when an owner comes to me with a watch that really means something to them I also get emotionally attached. And yes, even if i's a Casio. ;) It's like you say, personal. It could be a first watch, a watch that belonged to a relative, or even worn to war. They have a history and should be treated with dignity. Thanks for all the great stories you share Stian!
Thanks so much for your comment, Hans, and I couldn't agree more. Nowadays a lot of old watches aren't really economically viable to service/restore, but that's also very often not what matters. What matters is the joyful memories that watch might bring :)
Stian, you are the Mozart of watch restorers, beautiful elegant restorations done with superficially simple explanations. You are a Norwegian/Swiss National Treasure.
My grand pa passed away over 30 years ago. My mom doesn't seem to understand why I'm getting his old watch serviced and why I'm wearing it everywhere. This video is for her. Sadly there's no way to get it serviced like this in my country
Another resurrection of someone’s memories and treasure. I love that you restore these watches that are not considered “classics” or “noteworthy”, but they are to someone and worth being loved again. ❤
Stian, this watch has a simple beauty to it now that you have given it new life. Again, I love the history of the watches you work on and it adds so much to your videos. I'd say, job well done Stian. Cheers from this old retired coot living the dream in Tennessee.
Another stunning restoration, and up to your usual standard. Lucky Petar to have a heirloom like that restored to him. I must dig out my old van Buren, dating from 1961, when I turned 12!
It is always beautiful to see how you devote so much love, care and knowledge into restoring what turns out to be a beautiful and memorable watch. Hats off to you, Stian!
Been away for a while so I missed some videos.. Good to be back and see this really nice old Aretta.. Another great service Stian..as usual.. Thanks for the tour...........
I put a new 7S26 movement in my old Seiko 5 watch (SNK 357) and regulated it to 0 seconds per day and it kept losing time each day. I set it to +4 like you did in the video and now it keeps perfect time!!
That’s a handsome timepiece you restored. I feel bad when folks ask me to restore their family heirloom-which is sometimes a 1-jewel wonder that’s filled with rust.
my everyday watch is a seiko I received for my 16th birthday, 55 years ago. I wore it till is stopped then a couple of years ago had it serviced. still a great watch.
Beautiful work again Stian. You make it look oh so easy. Seems like a shake of the wrists and its all done. The wee one is also so very sweet. I always enjoy the exchange when they pop their head round the door. Well done for bringing them up multilingual. Bw Mike
Another beautiful video. My Sunday meditation. Your attitude towards decay and refurbishing reminds me of a book by Dutch author Midas Dekkers, "De vergankelijkheid", in which he elaborates on the beauty to be found in decay over time. Maybe there's a Norwegian translation....
What a beauty of a watch. Great restoration. Vintage watches restored to original or close to original condition, in my opinion, are more appealing than new watches and make better conversation pieces. Fantastic work Sir.
Another wonderful and informitive resto for a great reason. Again your comments durring the work always entertains and educates the likes of others and myself. Tools..better to have em and not need them than to need and not have. Always be prepared as they say...Thank you for what you do!!
Great Job Stian. Also, love hearing your kids in the background. Brings back fond memories of my own, who are grown up now. Only advise, enjoy every minute of them as you can. They grow up unbelievably fast
What a beautiful watch and Peta should be loving this pretty jewel for sure. Great work Stian!! - Loved the Gold plating and polishing done on this watch. wish the dial had little less wear off and it would almost pull off to be a new watch.
I always thought you were in England, A Norwegian in Switzerland and your child speaks English better than many here. ( I always think of your child as the Apprentice ) Love your videos and your interaction with your children.
Absolutely nice restoration,I love your plating set up ! Simple watch with a stunning end result ! Really appreciate this video ! Thank you for sharing !!
03:42 Love the skull with just two teeth, kind of funny... *up left on the main plate* Cheers Stian, hope you're well mate. PS Always love the "bell" sounds before the ultrasonic. Kudos, a trademark indeed!
Another triumph of a restoration, especially the case. I expect Peter (sorry for the likely incorrect spelling) will be very happy with the result. Thanks for sharing, Stian.
Thanks for sharing your talents and wisdom with the TH-cam community. Your vast experience and smooth technique are to be commended. I love my meager and small collection of watches, and I care for them as deeply ever. I even designed my own watch boxes!
Fantastiskt skickligt att ge nnytt liv åt en gammal trotjänare. Tack för en bra kanal Stian, Jag gissar att du är från Norge och skriver därför på Svenska.
It looks delightful after its trip to the spa. Your videos are a treat to watch, with a good amount of levity. I always chuckle when you start the ultrasonic!
Always nice to hear young miss in the workshop. You speak of Petr like he's your brother or neighbor or something - I assume a regular customer? Anyhow, a question: I have many watches that are expensive to maintain, and a few with discontinued movements that are hard to find parts for. I have been using the services of the same watchmaker for 20 years. I bring in 4-5 pieces at a time, his eyes light up with dollar signs, and I wait a few months for the wallet consequences to set in. There are some of my pieces that my watchmaker declines to service, though, because they are "not worth it"... mainly my old seikos from the 60s and 70s. I have seen you regularly bring back pieces from a state of extraordinary wreckage (not always, of course). Are there times when you can look at a watch for maybe thirty seconds and say that it is not worth servicing? If so, why? (It could be that my watchmaker is a snob, I suppose.) Thanks.
Thanks for watching, Randy! Time is very expensive nowadays (pun intended), resulting in old watches frequently not being valuable enough to justify working on it. That unfortunately goes for most Seiko's apart from KSs, GSs etc. So I wouldn't know if your watchmaker is greedy (but few watchmakers are in my experience), but he is probably right. Of course, watches often have high sentimental value, which can certainly make it worth servicing it.
I love your work and your sense of humor. Mentioning that your name may sound strange to non-Norwegians gave me the courage to present you with my theory: it is short for SebaSTIAN. I may be wrong, but I like it... 😄

My pleasure, Petar :) I hope you can enjoy your watch for many years to come!
Amazing restoration. You made her Beautiful Again.
Petar should be thrilled to wear his newly refurbished watch. It came out beautifully - no surprise there.
Thanks Catherine :)

Thanks, Thomas! 😂👍
Stian; Nothing amazes me more than seeing an old watch come back to life. You have the best watch repair channel on TH-cam.
Wow, thanks so much, Larry! 😊
I love the smiling skull in the main plate and the numbers on the dial. Nice watch!
Always a real pleasure!
beautiful job
Reminds me of my grandfather's 1950s gold Marvin, also in need of service. Thanks Stian.
Yes, I can hear what she's saying right now. Give her greetings from Australia, please.

I really respect the way you care about others. Restoring that watch for your friend means so much to him. Thanks again Stian! Well done.
Simple. Beautiful. Classic!
APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE
Nice detail again: The case and the bezel and so splash slowly in the bath of the ultrasonic. Love that sound.
Glad you like it! 😊
Returning viewer here 👋 thanks for uploading again and again.
Thanks again!
If I had a favorite watch style/look that would be it. Thin, light, simple. ✌

Lovely job. Beautiful
The transformation you put the watches through is just amazing. Too bad you can't do that for old bodies!!!
I wish! 😂
Yes. Excellent work Stian. 🇳🇴🇺🇸🇳🇴🇺🇸
It turned out beautiful. Fantastic job!!!
Another great video, thank you for sharing!
You my friend are great. It’s the sentiment behind the machine not the cost of the piece.
Thanks 😊
Beautiful work Stian ❤️❤️👍👍👍

Nice to make a watch wearable again. The plating kit does a good job.
Absolutely beautiful and worse to restore, even it is a basic movement and brand.
Love this type of dress watches from the 40ties to 60ties

What a beautifull result on a special watch.

it's proof that ordinary watches can also look great when in good hands. Good job Stian 👌

Nice design - i like the proportion between the narrow bezel and the crystal !
Petar, that was a very nice present from grandfather!
As usual excellent audio video might be an oldie but it's still a goodie
Nice job. Watch came out really nice. 😁👍
