    Thx for your review..
    After 10 years being off a bike (previous was an 04 Honda vfr) I got a rally pro. A little vertically challenged @ 175cm & 76cm legs. Plan was for mix of on road/off road. The RP is wearing E 07 Mitas 50/50 tires. Very predictable @ 145 kmh highway. Just learning the ways of off roading dirt, sand & rocks at 69 years. No problem.
    Really enjoying the bike.
    Having to set mode back to off road every time you restart (or stall) is a huge annoyance. The RP has a lot of low end grunt but engine is jerky lugging under 3000 rpm off road.
    Unimpressed with the gps. It works but could be so much better.
    Lots of flexibility with TFT display modes but would prefer an option to display engine rpms with round dial & needle.
    Will probably trade out the RP hard panniers for soft mosko bags next year for a New Mexico to Alaska adventure.
    Other bikes considered were Honda AT, BMW 850GS, & KTM 890.
    Mostly, I'm happy to be back on two wheels.
    😀

    Very detailed review of some features of this bike. I have the same bike. I'm impressed you are riding this bike at 165cm. I'm 178cm and I find it quite tall for me but I also find it very comfortable. Your description of the Triumph turn-by-turn navigation mirrors my own experiences exactly and those faults render it completely useless. However, this is not a bike problem but a software problem of the app. It tells you to go the wrong way quite often and often tells you to turn after you have passed the turning. After this, I was very skeptical about any turn-by-turn navigation (instead of a GPS with a map) until I bought a Beeline (expensive but totally brilliant) and with an app that really works (I'm not an advertiser for Beeline). Connectivity of mine to the phone and music works fine, but I heard its dependent which phone you have.
    However, one thing is for sure. The Tiger 900 Rp is the best bike I've owned and for touring, I haven't ridden a better bike,. Engine and handling are superb. You mentioned bike came with road tyres. The originals are Bridgestone Battlax A41 adventure. If anyone is gong to use the bike only on the road (many will), then the tyres are surprisingly good, especially in the wet and in the cold weather. So not a bad tyre for Norway, as long as you are sticking to the road.
    Thanks for the review.

      Thank you for pointing out your experience with the Tiger! Yes, the bike is a bit tall but I’ve made it work 😂 yes, the AX41 Adventure tyres are great on road, and I know that lots of people who buy these bikes will only use the bike on road. However, I wouldn’t complain about this if it wasn’t that most of the advertising of the Rally Pro show off road tyres - and they list off road tyres as one of the bike’s “key feature” 🤔 I also think that a Rally bike should come with more off road tyres than a GT bike 🤷‍♀️ anyhow, there is nothing to do about it, I just find it misleading😕

    Hi Filly,
    Had the 800XC for 6 years. Loved the bike. Although it had some early bugs like the stalling while idle'ing. Nothing to worry about when standing still but when changing the gear and the bike quitting was sometimes no fun. Twice almost died. Trying to get on the highway and needed to get in front of a truck and a car. Was maybe 15 meter in front of the truck while suddenly the bike stopped running. And no-where to go, to escape. Nothing on the bike worked as f.e. the brakelight. Ohww. It is all getting back in my memory. 🤕🥴😵‍💫 The truck almost run me over and nothing i could do. Only hoping that he would react. He almost had to stop on a very busy highway. It had all the ingredients of becoming one big mess. Strangely it was a few km'ters from where my dealer was. So at the next possibility got of the highway and went to the dealer. Although i had to go to my work.
    I explained the situation. It was then that he started to smile. While 10 minutes before i almost died and maybe also with the possibility of creating a big mess of several cars and trucks running in to each other. Others could have died too. It is still making my butthole sweat.
    After that i cleared a thing out the dealer changed a certain part on that bike thar sas the cullprit from the beginning. The problem was fixed after that. Never happenend again.
    Made very large trips around Europe with that bike. It has a perfect powerdelivery. And cruising at 140 kph is perfect.
    When ever looking for a bike to replace this one. The Husqvarna Norden 901 would be a perfect bike for you. Maybe even the Norden 901 Expedition. But that last one is a bit tall. Maybe.
    The incredible gain what you would get with that bike is the extreme low center of gravity. It would let you experience riding even more then with the Tiger.
    Keep on riding and have safe travels.👍
    Greetings from the Netherlands,

    10,000 50/50 miles on mine in Colorado. I run in off-road not pro mode most of the time off-road. No issues on jeep trails. Beware of sump guards. My hepco Becker echoes horribly. Had to rubber spray and insert foam to help it.

    Good honest review. Seems your enjoying the bike. Glad to hear it. I have '20 Rally, so I don't have Rally Pro mode. I have not experienced the issue with the Rally mode traction control you talk about. Just a different experience, that's all I`m offering. BTW, I have really enjoyed the Outback Motortech engine guards and skid plate. Though the plate will ring a bit it's not horrible. Just a different harmonic.

    The "connectivity" has never worked for me. Absolutely useless. And now that Apple recommends to NOT put your iPhone on the bars I will just get a real Garmin GPS. I am a older guy (almost 67 yrs old) and I prefer the rain mode most of the time. Around town it shifts so much smoother. I bought the biggest Touratech panniers for grocery runs etc. Maybe touring in the years to come. Nice review. From Kentucky, USA.

    You can set “Off Road” to not have TC at all. So the “Off road Pro” mode is just the same setting with the defaults set to front wheel ABS, rear. Wheel no ABS. TC off etc. nice bike!! I got mine last week. Only at 1242 miles on her but OMG!! Best ADV for me!! I have the lower seat. Or Low Ride seat. The tank pad by triumph which cost me about 38$ more is nice as well. Gives the bike like 40 more HP. Jk. But I do have the Akrapović exhaust and PC tuned. Can’t say enough about this one except she is pretty much the best of all worlds!! Hands down!!

    Off road mode is everything off except for front abs, as a safety net, off road pro is everything off, both off road modes slow the throttle response for less spin up, better fine control and better grip...

    I noticed the same on mine, luckily before the footpeg disappeared. Mine lost the C-clip that holds the footpeg bolt. I could not find a c-clip at the hardware store, so i just took off the whole rear footpegs, i dont really use them.

    Can people rent motorcycles in Norway 🇳🇴? We’ve never been to Norway and when we visit sometime it would be great to tour the country on a motorcycle. Maybe you could even show us around a bit if you’re free when we’re in your area of Norway. The locals always know great places that the typical tourist would otherwise miss.

    Good overall review - I've got a GT Pro and find the satnav is next to useless as well. I might have to go check my pillion peg clips.
    A couple of tips. Instead of replacing the original mirror, look up a brand called DoubleTake. They have the RAM mount ball and socket system and they knock out of the way instead of breaking off. They are common on adventure and dirt bikes.
    Second tip. If you drill through the end of the broken brake lever, 3mm hole, you can put in a countersunk head screw from the rear and a nut at the front. Then use metal epoxy to build up over the setup into a new ball-end. That will give you a safer hold on the lever in the rough stuff. I've done this on a Ducati as the replacement part was crazy money.
    Thirdly, is that an Aussie accent?

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Great tips😄 I think everyone who has mentioned new mirrors has recommended the DoubleTake with RAM mount ball, so I assume it is as good as people say! Will most likely end up with those mirrors 😁
      Not a bad idea about the break lever! It didn’t break too far in so it doesn’t bother me too much, yet😅 have also looked at Puig’s levers, but have not gotten there yet as everything costs 🙈
      Third, thank you☺️ haha, my accent is a great mix of everything, but a larger part Aussie is correct 😂 I lived in Aus for three years, but it’s years ago already and my Aussie mates say that I’ve already started to loose the accent.. so I take it as a compliment every time someone asks about it☺️

    • @Kim_Miller
      @Kim_Miller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FillyAdventureRider Aussies tend to lose their accent faster when living overseas than others do when they come to Australia. We lived in the UK for a few years and our 5 year old son took 3 weeks to suddenly sound like the locals of Exeter in the south west. I was doing some teaching and several students (university age adults) couldn't understand me so I had to take on the local accent as well. I could do a pretty good Devon & Somerset apple farmer for years after I came home. :)
      Funnily enough, my wife had 18 months traveling the world before we married and nobody could pick her mixed accent for years afterwards.

    Great video, nice to see a review from someone who has lived with the bike long term instead of a few hours. I’m going to be ordering mine in the next few weeks and I’ve been researching aftermarket parts. The Outback Motortek skid plate looks to have some great reviews. What is the handling like on the road with the 21 inch front wheel and off-road tyres? Keep up the great work.

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! ☺️ I’ll look up the Outback Motortek’s skid plate!
      I haven’t tried too many different bikes yet, so I don’t have too many to compare the Tiger to. However, considering what I’ve heard from more experienced riders about off road tyres on road, I would say that the Bridgestone Adventurecross AX41 (mine atm.) are pretty good on road as well as off road. I’ve heard that I might experience off road tyres “slip” in steep turns on road, but I have not yet had that happening to me (I’m not a typical “aggressive” rider though). On the other hand, I find my current tyres to be a bit slippery on wet road.. so I’ll be changing back to street tyres shortly for the rest of the season (I drive to and from work as long as it’s not snowing😅), and then get some new off road ones early next season for 2022 adventures 😎

      @@FillyAdventureRider Very nice review! You mentioned that you went down in a roundabout. Sadly, the most slippery substances on paved roads are very hard to see sometimes - like spilled anti-freeze, hydraulic fluid, motor oil, etc. A new rain makes things worse as it tends to spread these slippery substances across the road so you can't avoid them. They can then become 'painted' onto your tires and cause a temporary reduction in traction. In general, these slippery agents often collect on the center of a lane rather than on the left or right side of the lane, so it is better to avoid the center portions of a lane especially in rain when you cannot readily see these substances - except perhaps as a rainbow hue in the wet road. And of course avoid leaning or turning the bike or significant braking (if possible) when you suspect that these slippery substances are present. These substances naturally accrue more on the roadway at stop lights / stop signs as vehicles dwell there longer. In roundabouts, motorcycles almost naturally cross from the left to right (or visa versa) parts of the lane which has them crossing over the center portion, usually while they are leaning. Drivers in cars or trucks never notice these inconveniences. Finally, as fall approaches, beware that leaves on the road provide greatly reduced traction for both bicycles and motorcycles - the good news is that we can readily see the leaves!

They do have a proper off-road sump guard but people were complaining for vibrations iirc? I'll probably put it on myself at some point).

    I just started my riding training, do you think this bike is proper for a newbie?

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thank you 😄 I’ve had two other bikes before this one, but they were a 250 ninja and a sv650. They are so different to the Tiger that I cannot really compare the bikes. Also, I haven’t tried too many adventure bikes to make a proper opinion about the Tiger as an adv bike. The Tiger is my first “medium/big bike” and I was (still am😅) a “big bike newbie” and I’m happy with the Tiger 😊 I think what matters when you have to decide if a bike is good for a newbie or not is what features and size you personally need to be comfortable on the bike. If you are short and need the comfort of having both feet on the ground, then this might not be the perfect bike for you. However, the bike in general is easy to ride and relatively easy to handle which might make this the perfect adv bike for a newbie 🤷‍♀️ anyhow, a few pointers to an adventure newbie is to quickly learn how to handle the bike when you’re off the bike (move it around in the garage and/or parking spot - simple techniques shown in several YT videos), and learn how to pick it up yourself if you were to ever drop the bike (practice this on a soft surface like the grass). It really boosted my confidence and motivation once I got comfortable moving the bike around and pick it up from the ground as I knew that I didn’t have to worry riding on my own 😄

    Hi Filly. Good points. I just bought the same and am upgrading from 800xcx. Was considering T7 but not available for quite some time here. My dealer is swapping tyres at no charge. Also I would recommend a durable phone with Osmand GPS app as way cheaper and better than Garmin. Works offline too. I bought used Samsung Xcover. I keep iPhone in pocket. Have you used the GoPro function on bike?

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, lucky you that your dealer swapped tyres for free! 🤩 I’ve tried one time to connect the GoPro to the bike but I decided not to go through with it when I realized that you have to connect the GoPro to your phone and then connect the phone to the bike. The GoPro battery is already so poor without having the Wi-Fi constantly on, and I don’t ride with a cable connected to the camera, so I assumed that it would probably only last an hour or so if it had to go through the phone and the bike at the same time as well as it would have to be on all the time. Also, having the GoPro connected to you phone drains battery from your phone… therefore, could not be bothered even though the idea sounds smart 😄 would love to hear if anyone else have used the GoPro function on the bike!

      @@FillyAdventureRider I've seen a review that talks about the charging ports. It showed that the one up front is always on. Even when the bike's ignition is switched off. Therefore, any time you have an accessory such as a GPS or GoPro plugged in to the front charging port, it is on and depleting the bike's battery when the bike is switched "off".
      BUT... they said that is not the case with the rear charging port. Apparently the rear port does indeed switch off when you switch the bike off. He demonstrated that by plugging in a charging port adapter that lights up when you insert it. With the bike off, the light was on when in the front. Off when in the secondary port near the back seat.
      If you have an accessory charging cable that will reach, then you won't have to worry about a flat battery if you plug it in that secondary charging port. He also had a trickle charger connector installed under the seat. If he parks his bike for two weeks or more, he just plugs it in to a trickle charger to keep the battery maintained at full charge.
      I like everything about the Tiger 900 RP. I've decided on getting one after winter has finished having its way with us here in Canada. 🥶

    I am looking at the Tiger as a possible replacement for my Harley. Also BMW, Honda and Moto Guzzi. Since I can average 600 to 700 miles a week, fuel efficiency is a high priority for me. Yes, I know that fuel efficiency can vary greatly among riders. So, what kind of average fuel numbers do you see?

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the Tiger calculates average over the last 100km, and mine is showing 4,8L. I guess I have a relatively “steady” way of riding since it’s about the same now, when I’m riding to and from work everyday (through traffic, highway and all different speed limits), compared to my average fuel consumption on my longer road trips 😄🤷‍♀️

    Nice review, thanks for informations. I would like to ask for additional info about arrow exhaust. Is it too loud for longer trips? If you compare it with original one. I am afraid of bothering me in loneger trips, specially in constant speed. Does it some decibel killer inside? Thank you!

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Personally I find the sound of the original one and the arrow one to be pretty similar. However, my partner disagrees - he thinks the arrow exhaust has a better sound🤷‍♀️ I have a post on IG where I compare the two: instagram.com/p/CNX8zUWHM7q/?
      It came with a DB killer, yes. I have tried to remove it but I gave up as I was worried that I might break the DB killer for it to be removed..
      back to your question, no problem to go on longer trips with the arrow exhaust 😄 at least no problem with the DB killer. Also, I do normally ride with ear plugs regardless of the exhaust, which also helps.

      I've been riding dual-sport / adventure on + off road for 50 years. In the USA in the 60's-80's most dual-sport bikes were from Japan, with only a few exotic dirt racers from Europe. We quickly learned that things would start to fall of of any motorcycle if it is ridden a lot on bumpy, rocky roads for a few weeks. We all ended up buying Loctite blue (medium strength) and we used it on every bolt and nut on the bike (except internal engine parts). Eventually, in time, fewer and fewer parts ever fell off as everything was 'Loctited'. If the Triumph dealer's technician added the pegs, perhaps he did not follow the 'blue rule' !

    • @LuckyLuke79a
      @LuckyLuke79a 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The heat from the fans is a problem.... or a blessing.... depending on the outside temperatures. On my trip through northern Norway, I put my hands in the outlets to warm them because the heated grips didn't cut it. In hot weather, however, you should have good gear. Knee protection is very helpful.... It still gets pretty warm in traffic. There are modifications to prevent that, but for me it's okay the way it is.
      Vibrations are there - but either you ride sporty and forget about them. Or if you're on the highway, the speed isn't high enough anyway. First, because you're not allowed to ride that fast in most countries, and second, because she gets thirsty above 140. So you usually turn on the cruise control and then just keep one or two fingers on the grips. It's not a sport tourer, after all. So imho it's not as big a problem as people make it out to be.

    • @FillyAdventureRider
      @FillyAdventureRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would look at the reply from LuckyLuke79a. I have not yet noticed the heat from the ventilators as a pro in cold weather nor con in warm weather (again, live in Norway - not to warm here 😂). Also, I don’t usually ride around 6k rpm as our speed limits are relatively low here 🤷‍♀️

Different cultures between the Japanese and the Europeans. That is why the Japanese are slow to innovate. They do not want to put anything out in the market until it is % 100 right. Sure, they have flubbed a few times but that is rare. Culture isn't the only thing........it is everything.

      @@FillyAdventureRider If you really do a lot off both and want the best performance in both environments, you may need two bikes.
      In 1986 a buddy and I rode our enduros (old term) from Northern Calif. to the Canadian border, 3,300 miles in total over 15 days. I had a 1981 XL500 and he had a new 1986 XL600. 60% of our miles were forest service dirt/gravel roads. 35% were paved roads. The other 5% could be described as single track very technical. Our adventure's primary purpose was trout fishing. We chose routes that ran along rivers and large streams. We would fish a stretch for awhile and then move on up the road a bit to another stretch to fish. Often we found that we could ride our bikes down to the rivers using footpaths. It was quite technical and not easy, but the benefit was our bikes were down on the river with us where we could see them and our gear. It was fun challenging ourselves to navigate these paths down and then get back up.
      I still remember how buzzed our butts were everyday after hours in the seat of those thumpers.
      I'm going to get a new bike in the next month or two (waiting on weather change). I started out thinking the Tenere 700, but I spent a lot of time reflecting back on that trip in 1986, as it accurately depicts my riding preferences. I'm leaning now towards the Tiger 900RP. There are a few of those paths we did take down to the river, that I would not take the tiger today, but I think getting a bike that is more capable of doing the 2%, but not as comfortable at the 98% doesn't make much sense.
      I'm also in the early stages of brainstorming a trip down to Chile and Argentina to fish/camp from my motorcycle, so that is playing into my decision as well.
