This guy is actually smart , I work for a major Diesel engine company , anti seez is good to keep thread from seeding but will throw torque out of spec . I seen people here break head bolt because of anti seez being used on critical parts with critical torque spec ....
Had the ngk laser iridium plugs oem in my acura cl type s 6 speed with 120k miles when I changed them. Put the same ones in. Felt no difference so I'd assume they were still good. The plugs to my knowledge would probably have lasted the life of the car. Not the exact same plugs but close. All ngk plugs are awesome. Run the ngk tr55s in my ls1 trans am, and the tr6 when I wanna run nitrous. The fact these are in my truck stock makes me happy.
Stop passing wrong information to people idiot, “any” iridium spark plug is rated for 60k to 150k depending on the vehicle, for my dodge durango 2015 it says evey 100k, so that’s what i do. Read your owner’s manual people.
I can vouch for him don't put anything on those spark plugs. Just pull them out and put in new ones ( of course don't forget to gap ) They say spark plugs can last a hundred thousand miles, in the manual book it recommends to keep up with performance chang every 30,000 miles . I've been changing them about every 30 to 40 thousand miles and I do feel the difference in performance, I guess that's how I'm keeping my 22 mpg . It's up to you , you don't have to change it that soon.
The problem is not putting them in but taking them out. Plugs have a reputation of not coming out of the Ford 5.4L. When that happens, the plug breaks and pieces fall into the cylinder and the repair is very expensive.
I just replace the four spark plug on my 2006 Toyota Corolla with 138,000 miles on it with the Toyota recommended NGK Iridium spark plug and found out that the originally installed are also NGK Iridium. checking the condition of the old one, it looks like in pristine condition still. must have built to last as the life of the car itself. Great product! no wonder it is the one recommended by Toyota.
I bought a 2008 Hyundai Elantra when it was brand new. I put 205,000 miles on it and decided to replace the NGK iridium spark plugs. The car was still running fine and upon removal the plugs still appeared in good shape. I am sticking with NGK iridium spark plugs.
Those plugs look fantastic for 100k! My truck is a 2013 has the older copper plugs which have a 30k change interval and also have that shiny costing on the threads. I changed them at 30k and they squealed like crazy while I was removing them. They also had a small amount of aluminum powder on them. I'm assuming that's because I'm in New England with the humidity in the summer and salt on the roads in the winter. I ended up putting a very small dab of nickle antiseize on the threads. But I've seen the videos with guys slathering it all over the threads of the plugs which isn't necessary at all. Can't wait to see the procharger installed!
I put champion platinum 3570 in mine it is running great 3-6 mpg increase. I might replace them at 100,000 miles with Iridium. No anti seize just dielectric grease on the inside of the boots and around the top where the boot seats against the valve cover. It says 13 foot pounds on some videos. The recommendation for torque on the spark plugs is 12-14 foot pounds and not exceed 15 foot pounds. I went with 13.5 foot pounds 162" inch pounds, the gap is at .045" of inch. The coil packs I just tighten to snug. The Denso TT iridium spark plugs have a little piece iridium wire on both sides of the spark gap. I might try that brand or Champion Iridium spark plugs
So did you put back old plugs or replaced with new ones? I just took out plugs from my Nissan Rogue with 125K (original owner) and they are in the same condition as the ones you show in the video. The gaps is matching the spec (0.044). I have NGK Iridium Laser rated for 100K and 0.044 gap. I'm thinking of putting them back and keep driving till 200K and re-inspecting then.

Excellent video. Goes to show that it is useless to replace the spark plugs if it is made of iridium tip and platinum electrode regardless of brands. They are made for lifetime of your car. No need to waste your money on spark plug replacements.
They really arent though, if you want a car to only do 100k miles thats fine, but they should be replaced at least every 100k. They used to be a every 30k item with copper electrodes. Also brand does matter, the cheaper ones seem to have some issues with ceramics getting out of place.
I replaced the factory iridiums in my Mazda at 141k. They were at least twice the gap specified. Not sure, perhaps they were overgapped at some point. Brand new NGK iridiums at the specified gap and fuel economy took a nice trip uphill.
Just watched your video of changing the plugs. Would you change the boots and springs for the coil packs also ? Or what would cause you to change the boots other than a pack replacement?

I do believe you have read the gap wrong. Those are not .040 as you state. You are reading the .040 on the side of the ground electrode that is on the low side of the ramp ( it's not touching gauge) , the ground electrode is actually stopping first at the high side of the ramp at .044. At 100,000 mile the gap has grown .004.

@@DAhonda247 Thanks for your info. After looking at the code on my plugs I have found they were platinum ones not iridium. My mechanic who fitted them told me they were iridium and would be good for 80,000 km (50,000 miles) but it appears I was duped as I paid him the price of iridium plugs. I have since been doing my own servicing so I will give real iridium plugs a fair go next service.
@@stanaugustowicz8419 you can always get the ngk ix from pepboys they have lifetime warranty and not have to worry about buying spark plugs again for the life of the car lol
I have 192k on the sparkplugs of a Honda Civic. It still averages 39 mpg, mostly hwy

Yeah, I'm changing the iridium plugs in my 2015 BMW 228i with new NKG's at 75K...But your pit hair and tattoos have got me distracted.
I do a full service every 6 months.
How do you know they have done 100k.that would be a long ass experiment.
