You should talk about green amivia lizards there closely related to Tegus but only get about 2 feet though they don't have very long lifespans typically 2 to 4 years They make really good pets
I love Burmese pythons. I had a great friend in high school who owned an albino BP, and he gotten her as a hatchling had owned her for 12 years. On Friday nights, 4 of us would watch TV sitting on his couch with her draped and crawling all over us. She was so chill and friendly. His father had built her a HUGE enclosure, and this awareness of needing a big enclosure was in 1990!!
Great video. Kratos is gorgeous! I hope to get a burm one day, they are so cool. Jub-Jub (the tegu) is such a ham for the camera. She's gonna be a star! 🦎
Glad you had a tegu in your video as well 😁. I have wanted a tegu for over 10 years, in about a month I have mine for a year and I absolutely love him! He is an argentine red tegu, very friendly and sometimes crazy af 😂
Thank you for talking about beauty snakes, I have a blue beauty and no one likes to talk about them. Your channel is by far my favorite, keep up the amazing work
Sulcata tortoise will also outlive you. Imagine getting a pet tortoise when you're a kid and it's still just schlubbing around same as ever when you die of old age. That's a commitment.
First of all, amazing video! You should definitely do a part 2! My favorite are the "what reptile you could/should keep instead" videos. But also, that shirt is super rad and seems to fit who you are pretty well. Lol.
YO you got a into the AM sponsor! Thats awesome! I love that brand! I wear it all the time and it is so comfortable! Nice vid! My dream snake is probably a Burmese python but I currently don't have a lot of space for them.
First off, so excited that you finally did this video. Second your Burmese is adorable. And finally I love how Diamond stole the show and you left those clips in. (Most creators would have edited them out. So thank you for leaving all that cuteness and humor in.) 😉
These videos are my fav to binge watch when I’m bored. Good job at 100k, you deserved it! We have a red foot tortoise, a elongated tortoise, and a leopard gecko. They’re all awesome
Hey Adam! Congrats on hitting 100k subs, it's been fun watching your videos for the last few months! You are actually one of the main people who inspired my decision to get a Leopard Gecko!
Really enjoyed this vid. A lot of keepers might scoff at kingsnakes and cornsnakes but i gotta say, after i got all my major dream reptiles, i still came back to the popular "starter" reptiles. Yeah they may be common, but they're popular for a reason. I probably get just ad much enjoyment out of my rat snakes as i do my big constrictors.
Great video, I’d watch a part two! I agree on the berm/retic. My dwarf retic is an absolute sweetheart, but you need to know how to read body language for sure!
I've actually noticed that handling the big animals like burms, it's a lot more relaxing and more enjoyable than handling a corn even though I am a huge advocate for corn snakes lol because I think they are the absolute best first and overall best snakes as pets for most people! They always eat and the temperature requirements are really easy to meet in a normal household lol. And I've bred corns for years but handling a big animal especially a big male Burmese is a really nice and not as hectic as trying to keep up with a corn snake lol
I would love a burm but I live alone and am on the less physically fit side so wouldn't be able to handle one on my own. Instead I'm looking into a boa constrictor as they typically don't get larger than 10ft which is honestly a lot easier to handle, though this is going to be like 20+ years away as I will need to move to a larger home to accommodate it as I don't have space in my one bed flat for a 12ft viv. I am planning on getting a female ball python in the meantime once I'm back in work and can afford a second snake.
I’m in the process of putting together a 40 gallon paludarium which is going to be fully planted with a 10 gal water feature, is there anything you would reccomend for it? I’m thinking dyeing poison frogs and mourning geckos
I really like the fact he provides you a "pars construens" along with a "pars destruens": you want a reptile/amphibian but it's too big and/or difficult to keep? Just buy this one, it's kinda similar, but more manageable.
Adam, what would you recommend for a reptile that would be more along the lines of a show pet? Something colorful and active during the day but not something you would necessarily handle.
Would love a burm some day. The hypos look really awesome, but the normal wild type coloration is gorgeous as well. Also hope to get a tegu some day as well. Both are dream animals of mine.
I recently bought a quince monitor.... may have bit off more than i can chew lol but im committed now! Can you do a video on them ? Theres not much on them! I read quiet a bit but like to know if theres anything im missing
Adamn one id suggest is pricey vs cheaper counter part for a video for example: blue tongue skink is way more expesnsive compared to their cheaper sub species like fire skinks, blue tailed skinks, and five lined skinks.
I didn’t expect the number 5 here. More the fact how perfectly it sums up my snake decision. I originally wanted. Burmese because of their size(I didn’t know their chill nature) but since learning an adult is recommended to have two people present and at this point idk if I will ever not be single, I decided to rethink that. A Burmese would flatten me just by me trying to handle it as an adult most likely. So I got a ball python instead. She’s doing good so far though and I have no complaints
Get a tegu! I just got mine and they are litterly puppies. He sleeps on my lap and comes to me for pets. They need tons of space I agree, my boy is 22" at only 8 months.
I would call a boa imperator the smaller alternative to a burm. Because even though they're themselves really big to most people. They have most of the same traits that people like about Burms.
I have a melanistic jeweled lacerta and it literally is a mini tegu The coolest tegu alternative I’ve had was a Chilean Dwarf Tegu. I don’t know how the Chilean didn’t catch on. It was only $20 and was by far the coolest reptile I’ve ever had.
Touching back on the monitor thing, another good alternative if they're less set on the aquatic thing and more set on the monitor thing, would be ackie monitors. They're like the bearded dragons of monitors, very easy to "tame", very hardy, and you get all the intelligence and interactive behavior from having a monitor.
How cold can those Torteses take? Here in Florida where I am at the can on an odd day bet down to 30 overnight. If could lure it into a barn you could heat that.

noooooooooooooo you have ads now nothing makes me hate a company like interrupting a video
@Lord Riggnarok thats a good idea. Blood pythons are very misunderstood
when mom says "we already have a snake at home" but the snake at home is still really cool

I love how the list is basically: you want a giant snake/tortois/etc but don't have the capacity? Get a small snake/tortois/etc
I wasn't expecting that short Slinky cameo, but I'm glad you included it :D

totally! I wish I could smash Dumeril's boas into every video

@@OtterTreySSArmy yeah. They only get to about 4-8 inches.

Coming at it from a different perspective, would a Dumerils boa be a suitable replacement for the Burmese?

I’d love to own a Sulcata. But I live in the Midwest and also know I’d have a hard time making arrangements for a pet that will for sure outlive me.

If you're concerned about it outliving you, why not try to get a rescue? You could find one that's already older and might not outlive you.
