@Ssamuel Vf This is what i mean. We are not saved based on what we do. however if we love him we will keep his commands. A natural reaction for somebody who has layed down their life for you and is the God of the universe is to listen to what he says.

@@hamzz6824 wrong. Look at James 2:14-26

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?

So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Indeed someone may say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

      21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
      22
You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.
      23
Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called “the friend of God.”
      24
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
      25
And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route?
      26

While I agree, I believe that your statement is an interpretation of James 2:14-26. The KJV, ESV & NKJV all say
..faith without works is dead.... slightly differently, but if we don't get caught up in the semantics, it is clear that Mr. Shapiro is wrong. Moreover, Jesus alludes to this principle many times & in other ways.
A follower of Jesus MUST ACT according to all Jesus' teachings, not cherry pick.
Many evangelists focus too much on faith in Jesus as Lord & not enough on DOING what he said.
Mr. Shapiro, however brilliant, should develop a better understanding of Jesus' teachings as a whole, as well as the different sects of Christianity before making sweeping statements.
Both Christianity AND Judaism have many sects. While Jews are united under the umbrella of Judaism, Christians are not so united, probably because they originated by breaking away from practices perceived to be corrupt.
BUT, as a starting point, I believe that Jesus, as.a Jew, was teaching his followers JEWISH PRINCIPLES as to relating to G-d & each other, so I start with the similarities. At the level of principles the differences are smaller than people realize.

As a Jewish believer in Jesus, I am more than surprised since I have previously agreed with just about everything Ben has said. His take on the difference between Christianity and Judaism demonstrates at best that he is significantly uninformed on this matter. A stark contrast to how informed he is otherwise. Yes, we must trust and believe in Jesus for our salvation, but if this is all there is, then how shallow and self serving this would be. But, the Good News for Ben and the rest of us is, Christianity is about so much more! This is based on the eye witnessed and documented examples that Jesus taught and lived out. As Jesus confirmed, the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves. What does this look like? As God and man, Jesus perfectly demonstrated this for us as He lived out His sacrificial mission while considering and caring about the interests of others before His own. Unlike all of us, everything Jesus did was for the sake of others and was motivated by His pure love. Why? Because God is love (1 John 4:7-21). As believers in Christ / Messiah, we are called to live a life worthy of the calling we have received (Ephesians 4:1-3). Jesus was (and still is) the way, the truth and the life who was also the Master at demonstrating what a life of love, service, and purpose should look like. He equipped those who trust in Him with the Fruit of the Spirit so we can bless others on God's terms and not our own. As believers in Christ, we are called to live out His will not only in our lives, but also in ways that He wants to use us to bless others. Ben covered the first greatest commandment, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." Since Jesus immediately followed up with confirming the second greatest commandment because of how important it is to Him and for us to live out, I hope Ben will look into, consider and become informed about the other parts of what Messiah Jesus was and still is all about. As was and is the case for me and all of humanity, if Ben will one day choose to admit he could be wrong and in need of God's forgiveness, then pray and ask God to reveal the truth to him, Ben will then be ready to begin his worthy journey. But, only if he does so with an open heart and mind, as free of other agendas as possible. In this case and as Ben stops leaning on his own understanding so he can receive God's (Proverbs 3:5,6), it will be impossible for this journey to not change his heart and life for the better and forever.

As We do. For our viewing pleasure we now have on hand in Washington d.c. straight from Babylonia, the arch of Baal, and the children are the sacrifice. We fight the same battle today. Ignorance of God's plan. Our priests are no priests, priestlings they are called

Yes, we are saved by faith alone. Our works cannot save us without faith.

Read the books that Jesus read. And as a Jew Jesus followed one God and he has one Sabbath. That Sabbath was stolen from the Christians by the first Roman emperor Constantine. They were encouraged to rest on the day of the Sun God amun-ra and to work on The Jewish Sabbath as is still the case today. Stolen Souls worshipping and being taught by rote, is God, Sun god,Amun-ra, Baal.

For Protestants the formulation is more of you perform works it’s a sign you are already Christian. But we need both faith and works

I think Ben gets it more or less right here. When Jesus taught he focused on faith and taught that a transformed life (also known as salvation) would flow from a genuine faith. The good works are a gift from God to humans in Christianity. God awards salvation from evil to those who have faith. In Judaism the good works are a gift from humans to God. They are the source of the relationship rather than the outcome of it.

    • @ZIbroweed
      @ZIbroweed ปีที่แล้ว

@@wip3z531 Yes, but the covenant as laid out in the New Testament in some ways over-writes the covenant with Israel in the Old Testament. This is evidenced by Peter being offered the sheet full of unclean animals and being instructed to "kill and eat." The new Testament sets out a new rule set that includes gentiles and doesn't require the careful following of every letter of the Old Testament law as Paul demonstrates when he is more lax with certain aspects of the law while ministering to Greeks and as Jesus demonstrates when he regularly disregards strict practice of the formal law while holding an even higher moral standard for interpersonal relationships and internal dialogue. In the new Testament faith in Christ in central and good works flow naturally from that faith without the rigid structure that was previously required.
I think part of what creates the divide is that some of the earliest books of the Old Testament were the people of Israel's civil law. They were the legal standard required for a nation to operate somewhat functionally without a formal government. In the new Testament they were all living under Roman civil law, so while many of the principles still applied they didn't need the extensive codification and could start living based on principles rather than Biblical litigation.

I agree with what Mr Shapiro said if Christianity is applied solely to Protestantism, but not with Catholicism or Orthodoxy. Catholics and Orthodox start with belief (faith) but it is the living out of that faith that brings about spiritual growth, sanctification as it were, and ultimately our salvation. Jesus said that what we do or do not do for others we do or do not do for Him.

Christians have to demonstrate the fruits of the spirit, which involves actions, in order to be considered saved. Now it isn’t the actions themselves that save you, but it is the capacity to have faith and then profess it which entails a character that would perform the necessary actions as a result of that faith.

My dad when he was alive used to ask many people how do you get to heaven? The common answer was well I have to live a good life. The majority realized they were trusting in their good works and totally unsure whether they would make it. When we realize it really is a gift all pride leaves and we are left with tremendous gratitude and love. We are adopted into a Heavenly royal family. Think of the story of the Prodigal Son. He hardly got his confession out but because he came back repentance His dad shows amazing grace even though he wasn't worthy to be his son. He gives the kid new clothes new shoes the family ring kills fatted calf has a party with music and dancing.

Makes me wonder if Hinduism used to be a bunch of different religions 10s of thousands of years ago, that have eventually amalgamated into a single umbrella religion.
This also gives me hope that people who follow Christianity, Judaism and Islam might also eventually learn to live and thrive together one day.
