If that doctor knew a damn thing about OCD, he would know that the anxiety that comes with it is almost ALWAYS irrational. No lab result is going to alleviate an OCD sufferer's anxiety because the brain doesn't care about the facts, it cares about feelings.

while you are true in a way, trying to pursue yourself that what you are touching doesnt have anything bad or anything that can stay on you (if that makes sense) makes your phobia more under control. personal experience
Part of therapy for OCD is de-rationalizing that fear. You're right most of the time logic alone is not enough but they will mostly incorporate "flooding" as well- repeated exposure to the aversive stimuli as if to say look, you're perfectly fine, you didn't die, this isn't so bad after all.
I do have the same phobia as Howie, I just realised. I wash my hand so many times a day, thinking that I'm getting germs and that my hands are unclean.
I have a fear of dirt/germs/contamination. I try not to touch anything especially in the restroom. I can barely touch anything and I wash my hands until they are really dry. I also use a lot of hand sanitiser. I also do my laundry separate from everyone in my family. I use a special disinfecting laundry mix to do my laundry. I shower multiple times a day. I also try to avoid stepping in mud and puddles because that gives me anxiety. When people step in mud and puddles, I’m internally having a panic attack because of fear of uncleanliness. I clean up after everyone and I nag about cleanliness when people don’t clean/clean things correctly. If they don’t clean it properly to me, I have to re clean it. I have difficulty sharing food and drinks. I have to get a new plastic bottle many times because I feel like my family might’ve drank mine and I don’t want to drink that because it tastes tainted once I drink it. I have panic attacks when someone is sick. If they show symptoms of sickness, I would panic and self quarantine in my room while wearing gloves and mask. I would spray disinfectant everywhere and clean everything. I also have to disinfect my phone regularly. I also can’t leave my house without bringing essentials aka a bad filled with hygiene products and cleaning supplies because of my fear of germs. So imagine me in a pandemic. I’m 24/7 going insane. I would be paranoid and I would have panic attacks a lot. I also can’t stand things not being in order. I’m also obsessed with things being perfect and being orderly. So I don’t let anyone in my room in fear that they would contaminate it and ruin its orderly fashion. I would get triggered if someone messes up something that I put in an orderly fashion. It makes me go mad when things aren’t in order.i would have to check things repeatedly to make sure it’s orderly. I also have to count and list things repeatedly.
I can go on but I don’t want reveal more of my weird rituals to avoid germs and my obsession over things being clean and orderly. It might make me sound insane
I have a phobia of toilets. I always close the top before flushing & if I'm in a public rest room I flush and run out the stalls, since I've heard that feces & water fly out da toilet when you flush. Sometimes I even use my foot to flush it cause I don't want my hands to make contact with the toilet at all.
Being and hypochondriac is hardddd it’s deeply rooted in the mental stemming from traumatic childhood. I fear everything concerning health since I was a kid.
I’m similar. If I’m exiting a bathroom at a restaurant or any place, I use the paper towel to open the door. That’s why I prefer to use a bathroom that is doorless which I wish was used more
Yea, and I think it makes only worse, because he just said(reminded) they exist and probably even showed microscope photos... IMO totally irresponsible, in Howie's place I would be yelling "Are you out of mind?". After that probably Howie would recall that moment for hours, days, weeks... Fortunately, IMO I don't have such strong Germophobia*, I can touch people hands, but after that I keep reminding myself to not touch face, especially mouth and food after that. After touching things if I can't wash my hands and I have to eat, I always hold food in a foil bag etc. But still feels weird, like probably as normal people would feel touching a car mechanic dirty hand or poo or something, like "I hope I can wash my hands as fast as possible". Sometimes it's a little awkward when I shake someone's hand, a few seconds later even if they are looking, wash their hands, and they probably imagine that I don't like them. *apart from washing hands dozens of times, even when they crack after washing as many times, and also hating greasy hand cream... he said from childhood I believe. People mask their illness but as soon as they get home, they completely clean themselves (clothing, shower or wash hands).
Really germaphobia? That phrase isn’t real, used the scientific terms, aren’t you doctors?!!! Like he literally instantly corrected you and said “I have OCD” and then you went and kept calling him a germaphobe! Smh.

Im the total opposite ..any time i can introduce my body to germs i do it! I believe it makes your immune system stronger and IF you do get sick it is because your immune system is weak which means you have a horrible diet that needs to change.
@@cindy846 90% of all causes of sickness and disease are caused by a horrible diet. Meaning putting anything in your body that harms it and not getting your daily intake of vitimins. From a high carb high fat diet to steroid injections to an overuse of over the counter drugs ect.. The other 10 percent is caused by your enviroment like radiation from microwaves to cellular waves to uv light all can have a negative effect on the body innlarge ammounts. Aswell as toxic chemicals in the air that many people get used too especially from air fresheners ect.. Aswell as stress and depression all have a major impact on ones health... Nobody is born with diseases it all has a cause. And it starts when the mother gets pregnant. If she has a bad diet it will affect her child till she changes her diet OR till the child changes their diet.

When did his germophobia start? I have watched alot of Howie from years ago and he didnt seem like he was afraid of germs. He was shaking hands and jumping on the floors and doing all kinds of stuff. Just curious.
he said from childhood I believe. People mask their illness but as soon as they get home, they completely clean themselves (clothing, shower or wash hands).
@@foxy5833 correct.

I just like Howie. Very intelligent
I have exactly the same problem, if not worse.
Really germaphobia? That phrase isn’t real, used the scientific terms, aren’t you doctors?!!! Like he literally instantly corrected you and said “I have OCD” and then you went and kept calling him a germaphobe! Smh.
Katrina Shaw They don’t call him a germaphobe, howie calls himself that. The doctor said that instead of him being a germaphobe, he is in fact germ aware. Which is much different
They're not real doctors...
I just saw him in an episode of Monk
its not germaphobia, it is OCD
I Have OCD to. That thing about vaccinations giving autism was different for me. a few days after my vaccinations at 7Yrs Old I started feeling different and started washing my hands constantly and I told my mum about it and she did notice then it just got worse from then. im 13 now and I hate my OCD, it makes me depressed because of how bad it is on me. FeelsBadMan
It’s not germophobia, it’s OCD. Germs are just his theme.

did anyone else have this video worsen their OCD?
Howie knows the Covid no hand shakes but he got hypnotized by someone 😂😂
I'm happy they didn't find anything scary during the bacteria testing, but what would they have done if they did? Send Howie running for the exit? Hmm.
why does everyone claim to have ocd. is it cool now or something?
Same me too I have germ phobia OCD
This is literally me
Same
YS Entertainment where are you from?
I'm like Howie 😂
Im the total opposite ..any time i can introduce my body to germs i do it! I believe it makes your immune system stronger and IF you do get sick it is because your immune system is weak which means you have a horrible diet that needs to change.
One word: coronavirus. Howie is smart.
"Having a horrible diet" is not the only reason to have a bad immune system... there are several medical conditions that give you a bad immune system
@@nathanb780 corona virus affects people with a horrible immune system......which is cause by a bad diet... genius
Amazing this was before pandemic

I think my dad has germophobia
He's very wise
This pandemic, we all know that Howie will not get infected by the virus
It's not a phobia, it's practical and clean
I have toilet phobia. Every time I went toilet i saw too many germ behind me. So i have to closed d door when i poo 😁😁😁
Howie was a germaphobic before Coronavirus....he was way ahead of his time, but he must be in a state of paralysis having germaphobia before and during the pandemic. Either that, or he was well equipped with masks, gloves, sanitizers and so on and is rhe most prepared.
