    I am glad some with the handles still grow. There are plenty of ordinary watermelons These are/were unique and should be preserved.

    how did melons get from Africa to the south west? this story would imply before the arrival of Euros.

      Who knows maybe they came from ancient Africa and followed humans across the Bering land bridge much like how dogs came here.

    I have some Art Combe’s seeds arriving tomorrow. Will they be the handle variety? I would love it if they were.

      Not quite yet. They have to be trialed and tested. In about a year or two they will be made available. Thanks for your interest.

      @@4cfaith you select the pheno types with the handle and then you plant those seeds. keep doing this until you get the handle big or small. The owners of the seeds were breeding for really red seeds and a handle. they also breed some without the handle.

    • @jameshughes131
      @jameshughes131 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@4cfaith you will get a couple handle ones and some round ones. some long ones. When you plant the seeds no two water melons are alike.
