HI Eddie, thanks for the exceptional video. 😃
So nice of you
Love the video great specs on that scope. Especially for the price range.
Thank you. I think it is a great option;)
Excellent Review!👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great review!
Thanks so much!
The Uni-T oscilloscope looks great. I have the Siglent SDS1104X-E 100Mhz and it works nice. I am holding out for new hobby 12 bit 4 channel scopes with FFT and a decoder menu. Also, some scopes have a remote HDMI monitor port for classroom lectures. Anyway, I really enjoy the new oscilloscope reviews. 🤸♂ Thank you. This stuff keeps getting better. 🐬
Thanks - it really does keep getting better;)
LOL. I remember saying, "Yeah, that 16-bit processor is faster and better in every way... but I'm gonna stick with my 8-bit processors... because, you know, ... they are the way to go"... Nope. That was said by no one ever. Fun video though Eddie. Thanks!
Thanks - LOL;) Yes, UNI-T does offer a great 2GSa/s which is awesome and the deep memory, so they have max'd this out;)
I do have some UNI-T gear but recently ended up buying a RIGOL scope before these came out. These are nice options for sure.@@KissAnalog
rigol model is 12bit vertical resolution, uni-t is 8bit(almost hidden in docs). More resolution can be life-changing in finding glitches and observing noise. So, no, those models are from different leagues
Thanks and yes the Rigol is 12 bits but I think I showed in this video that the Rigol has less memory depth and horizontal resolution that the 12bit might not stand up to all that the Uni-T offers, so yes I agree the Rigol is not in the same league - especially with its poor use of the usable screen.
I'm super glad it's got one of those illegal "warranty void if removed" stickers on it!
LOL - I love these:)
Man, you're on a Uni-T streak. LOL. Can't blame you; they offer good value for money. I have a Uni-T DMM and it's great functionally and quality wise.
LOL Yes, and I have more to come;)
I love a good oscilloscope review. I don't know why, but I do.
Thanks! There are options out there so I wanted to explain why this is a great one.
LOOKING NICE
Thank you!
Don't think those bumps on the rear do much when the mains lead is plugged in. Thanks for the info. Which do you prefer, Micsig, Uni-T or another?
Siglent, they are all good scopes for the price
Great question! At this price point I think the Uni-T is a better option than the Siglent or Rigol. At a little higher price point, I like the Micsig for sure. But any higher the Picoscopes are very hard to beat. I'll do a video talking about what you get at certain price points and which scopes I think compete;)
@@KissAnalog Thanks 🙂
I could use some how to videos for my Siglent 1202XE if I remembered that model right. It’s the one you didn’t like as much lol. Eddie it’s getting hard to see past that belly there. Lmao just bustin em. Thanks for the video
Thanks so much! I have gotten pretty out of shape;)
@@KissAnalog ahahahha it happens!
Pretty good specs for a decent price.
Thank you. I agree;)
Absolutely thrilled to have stumbled upon this insightful video comparison between the Uni-T Oscilloscope UPO1204 and the Rigol DHO814! It's a well-crafted and enlightening piece that not only showcases the UPO1204's superior features but also clearly demonstrates why it stands out as the more favorable choice for tech enthusiasts and professionals alike. Uni-T's commitment to innovation and quality shines through in this product, making the UPO1204 an unmatched option in its category. Thank you for this valuable review and for highlighting the impressive capabilities of the Uni-T Oscilloscope UPO1204. It's videos like these that make the choice for technicians and engineers much clearer and easier. #UniToscilloscope #UPO1204 #BestOsciloscope #TechInnovation
Thanks so much for this fantastic feedback! I appreciate you! I really do think that Uni-T has done a great job at using today's technology to bring a great scope - especially at this price range. It is not a one trick pony - as some competitors are.
@@KissAnalog that's not feedback , it's just advertising for uni-t...
Hello. It seems that a lot of people report that the Rigol has a bit of a noisy fan. How is the fan in the UNI-T? Is it very audible?
Great question! I need to do the follow up video review of this scope. I have been working with it to see what I could say about it. No, this scope is fairly quite. I hear other things on my bench that are quite before this one. I have heard the same thing on the Rigol...
Thanks!
Thanks so much for your continued support!
Wow, I hadn't realized the sample rate in the 900 series is also the same. I was thinking on saving up for the 924S because of 250MHz but I didn't even realize it goes just to 1.25GSa/s.
For the same amount of memory depth, at 200Mhz this is pretty decent. I just wish I could buy directly from Uni-T but I can't. My best bet is shipping to a PO box in Texas and traveling there for a weekend or something. AG sells those here but much more expensive, and they don't have this model yet.
Thanks for your feedback. Why can't you buy direct?
@@KissAnalog hello!
I don't live in the US, so it doesn't let me ship outside. Though even when they do, they charge me 150 usd for shipping and then more for duties.
I'll have to make do for now
Very hard to find the specs for the uni-t what like to see you compare all three Siglent SDS814X HD , Rigol DHO 900 and the UNI-T before you cut down 12bit oscilloscopes
That's a great Idea. I actually tried to get loaners from Siglent (they never respond) and Rigol (who did say that they would send one - but then went silent).
I've been doing videos asking for high vertical bit scopes for some time now. Rigol actually offered to send me one of these 12 bit scopes before it every was released - but then went silent. They have recently contacted me again - but are hard to arrange anything with. Anyway - I am a big proponent of 12 bit scopes. I was going to buy the a 900 series - but I don't want to give up other important features for the 12 bits.
My Pico scopes go above 12 bits and so does my Owon - and I raved about these several years ago.
But - I think I'll do the comparison that you talk about. I think it would be interesting.
Common Rigol send this nice youtuber a scope for review it will only help you to sell more :)
LOL I think they are worried;)
Thanks for the comparison.
Was at the Embedded World in Nürnberg last year and saw this picoscope competitor called "Acute Technologies" based in Taiwan. Model: TS3124B DSO
They're not well known but from interacting with the product and talking with their engineers, it felt like a good product.
Would it be possible for you to review their DSO or MSO series may be ?
You could ask their Taiwan office and may be they'll send you something for review. Just a possibility, I have no idea if they'll agree to it though.
Didn't see anyone make a good review about it till now.
i just checked and even their website was hard to find on google.
Thanks for the tip. I just reached out - let's see if they respond. I did notice that their prices are quite high...
@@KissAnalog Oh yeah, their starting price is pretty high.
But their lowest product spec is:
4 channels, 200MHz, 1GS/s and costs €700 (Model TS3124E)
When you look at picoscope, for the same spec, 4 Channel, 200MHz, 1GS/s, it costs £ 1755 (Model 3406D)
But picotech has much cheaper starter models though.
@@KissAnalog I am currently at the Embedded world again, i saw ACUTE technologies and told them you reached out. They told me They'll get back to your gmail (from youtube).
@@KissAnalog I was at the Embedded World again today. Acute Tech was there. I told them that you reached out but they seemed like they didn't get/see the Email.
They looked at your youtube Email in front of me, may be you might get a review sample.
I'd be interested to know what the common mode rejection is like on these new low cost scopes, I found the Picoscope or Cleverscope is very good but they are obviously more expensive. Even so these low cost scopes are pretty impressive and users are so luck these days, we had to buy scopes that cost as much as a car to get all these features years ago.
Thanks so much! I will show more of this scope in videos very soon;)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
Siglent 12 bit scopes released this week
Yes - and I am excited. It is about 35% higher to get the 12 bit, which is a step in price to $799, but an amazing offering non the less.
The memory seems to be within amazing specs!!!
Anything with less than 25M nowadays shouldn't see the day light.
Deep memory nowadays is a must. Doesn't matter the price range.
Thanks!! I am surprised that the Rigol drops to 1 M with 4 channels on.
@@KissAnalog ,me too.
Siglent, three weeks agora launch their SDS1000x HD with 12bits, 100M points and in an amazing form factor for just under 1000 dollars. Absolutely a beast.
I’d love to get one:)
The specs are very good for the price but can you trust the quality lf uni-t devices as much as siglent or rigol devices ? A teardown would be nice.
Thanks - yes I will do a tear down. I am impressed with the quality that I can see from the case and knobs and such.
Thanks Eddie,
I'm not so sure I mind dropping down as more channels are introduced. Usually when I really need to see what's going on it's just one channel that I need to dig deep into. Most times when I'm using two or three channels it's for decoding and I just don't need the depth. It's easy enough to shut off a channel to see something in depth on another one. Maybe it's just me.
I have the Rigol 924S ,250 Meg as my back up, it's a nice scope, you really need to do a side by side comparison looking at signals and rotating dials.
Thank you for your great feedback!! Everyone's work is different - and I often will use a single channel to inspect a signal closely, But, I have to admit - just as often - I am comparing two channels. And, often enough, I have all 4 channels that I am comparing. So Rigol dropping to 1 Mpts - is just not good enough. I want at least over 5 Mpts per channel...
Rigol only caters to the big channels. I've heard from others that I am not the only one that they igore emails from. So - I think I might have to give them the middle finger solute;)
@@KissAnalogGood points but still we can't fault the equipment and engineers for the actions of the manufacturers.
Please Help me.
I'm from Bangladesh.
I will make a small amplifier.
TDA 7294 IC,
20-0-20 Volt and 5 Amp Transformer.
How many wires to select, primary and secondary.
( SWG wire)
Thanks for asking! Nice to hear from friends in Bangledesh;) Are you asking about the turns ration Primary to Secondary? If so, do you have a core picked out? If so, let me know what the p/n is and I'll see if I can give you that info - ok?
@@KissAnalog
I want to know what wire gauge to select for 5 amp?
Hi question for I know you like them☺curious what dictates power handling, so if you got an amplifier 100 watts into 8 ohms and it says 75 watts into 4 ohms, and another amplifier might be a 100 watts into 8 ohms but 200 watts into 4 ohms, why is there a difference?? what is causing that different in its impedance power? Is it the size of the transformer even if the one producing 75 Watts has a lot of capacitance,
the scope looks nice how much? Do you get paid for these reviews?
Thanks for your questions!
First - I do not get paid for any review - but I wish that I did;) That's only for the bigger channels.
An amplifier really should double in power when the resistance drops in half. The reason they don't can be the power supply is too wimpy and/or the amplifier is to wimpy.
@@KissAnalog what do you mean by amplifier being too wimpy? Are you talking about it's output or current capability? the amplifier in question is 100 Watts at 7 amps are you saying wimpy because the transistors aren't at High Enough current capability? Thanks for the reply I'm sure you'll get paid one day but you get paid in kindness😊
In my country Rigol is chaper, it's 2400 vs 3400 difference, also the Uni-T i smuch harder to come by.
Wow - thanks for this info! What country are you in?
@@KissAnalog Poland. From what I can see, both Siglent and Rigol are having the dedicated dealerships here, and the Uni-T doesn't. On top of that, they also offer the time limited price cuts etc. Also, it would be interesting to compare the UPO1204 with the new 12bit series from Siglent.
I wonder what's better: 4ch @ 1000Msa/s or 2ch @ 500 Msa/s, if anybody knows. I don't need 4 channels, but if GSamples play not too big role (comparing to a bandwidth or a number of bits), I don't mind to have 4ch for a same price. Unfortunately my experience with digital oscilloscopes is limited.
Thanks for the question! I think you want to go with 4 channels. There will be times when you want more than 2 and that will be a bummer to work around. Most scopes will give the minimum Sa/s to meet the Nyquist requirements, but it is the deep memory that is of question. That's what makes a digital scope act or look more like an analog scope.
@@KissAnalog Aha.. Thank you for the answer, sir. So, long story short, when they state "200MHz", and this matches requirements, I shouldn't be worried about Sa/s.
Agree Rigol has a weird UX layout of its buttons, they look random like a child designed it
Thanks for this - and I'm glad someone else out there agrees! Their Power Supplies are the same way... So strange that they have nice equipment - but then cripple it with these strange layouts.
Looks like a FNIRISI? scope
Thanks for your feedback! Which FNIRISI are you referring to? I don't see a FNIRISI that it looks like.
Rigol have never replied to any of my emails about doing a review… their loss I guess !
Thanks for your feedback! I was suprised that they responded and wanted to send me a 'Loaner' when they came out - but then totally blew me off every since. I will try one more time using a different email - just in case it is going in the trash. But, after that - forget them - they will have to beg me to look at their stuff. Also, I am actually a bit let down after looking over their specs. I think they divide down waaaay to much per channel. I think they are marketing the specs on a single channel - then slipping you a Micky;)
I was looking for comparison how they work not how they look. You have to use them to see difference. Not everything what is on the paper is truth. UNI-T could be easily one of them.
Thanks. Yes this was a first impressions and comparison of specs. I will do more videos on this scope and really see what it can do.
my siglent is more expensive, but is 500Mhz, 200Mpts and 2Gs/s per bank.
And I hardly ever use that capacity
Thanks for this! Yes, I think 70 MHz is probably more than enough for most work;) Deep memory is fantastic, but 20Mpts per channel is probably plenty. How is the FFT? That is getting better in this new release of scopes.
I think you need a bigger Bench buddy :) I put all my Siglent equipment into a box under the house.
LOL Jason - you love your Siglent gear:)
I hacven't used any of it in 3 years :( Probably just sell it all.@@KissAnalog
screen size is very small
LOL but for this price range it is typical. I don't see bigger screens with 200 MHz right?
@@KissAnalog
8-bit UNI-T UPO1204 with 800x480 just a useless chinese toy with high price!
there have some great options by Rigol 12-bit DHO814, DHO914, DHO924 with 1024×600 pixel capacitive multi-touch screen.
I think their price point throws them over a cliff.
Thanks but I don’t know what scope can give you near this at near this price. What do you think is better priced?
@@KissAnalogMaybe Siglent 800X HD series ?
@@KissAnalog Free. You might be right. I'd say that too.
10 mins before switching on??
Sorry about that, but wanted to explain why this is a great option. Next video I’ll show some cool features.
Cool, I'm considering getting a new scope these days they are amazing and so cheap!@@KissAnalog
Thank you! I think this is one to consider:)
Yes thanks, despite my original comment I value your informed assessment of these products without this I would buy a pig in a poke!" @@KissAnalog
Seen some worst ads on tv. You are trying to hard to polish that turd.
How so? Do you have a better scope for the money?? I bet not. That's a challenge - I am truly interested...
Way too expensive for what it is! ...a few years ago no, but today yes, the world has moved on!
Thanks but what scope compares??
@@KissAnalogI would rather put a little bit more money a buy Siglent SDS824X HD.
Ok so the Siglent at $799 is 35% higher - that’s significant for some. So at $527 the UPO120 is a good price I think. I too would spend more to get higher bits, but I’d have to review Siglents FFT to see if it is as good as the UNI-T - because it is amazing!!
I think their price point throws them over a cliff.
Why do you say that? Where can you get close to this for near this price?
@@KissAnalogCheck new SDS800X series from Siglent.
Yes the new SDS824X HD is a nice scope and matches up great with this UPO1200 with the added vertical resolution of the 12 bits. The Siglent is 35% more expensive at $799, so at $527 you think the UPO price throws it over the edge??
@@KissAnalogYou need to test those products not just looking on datasheet. It will be not the first time UNI-T does not meet the specs.
