I cried watching this at 2am here, then on my way to bed, stopped by my 4 year olds room, had to quietly hug him and cry some more.

Father of 2 boys here. While I found Joel completely despicable at the end of the first game I could definitely relate to his connection to Ellie. Only salvageable part of his character before he died.
I sing it to my kids now. These games made me cry as a parent so many times. Thats part of why they're so amazing. I don't even play video games normally, and TLoU pulled me in and I'm hooked.
I play this to my beloved daughter Sarah all the time. She's started to play the guitar and the other day she started to play it. I stood there, crying and never being more prouder of my baby girl.

Love Eddie Vedder, love Pearl Jam. My dads love for Pearl Jam is what got me into Alt Rock and help bring us together over the years where we got to know each other (I was adopted at 13, 8 years ago).
Saw them in London in 2018. Best gig i've ever been to. Eddie's voice is something else live.

I always have chat turned off for these things, so I don't know what was said, nor do I care. All I know is this was one of the best highlights of the show. Eddie Vedder is a god damn legend, and his song's inclusion in TLOU2 was masterful. It evokes feelings that most other games simply cannot.

Oh, I just clicked on the video and realised what it was about. Just making the point that half or more people may be here because of the game, The Last Of Us, which is fine, and I've heard it's a fantastic game, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the new HBO series, but that I was here because I'm just a fan of Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam.
If we ever lose Eddie, I don't think I will recover. Such a big part of my life and his band Pearl Jam has been there in happy and sad times and will always be part of me. I'm not a gamer at all, but it's so cool that this song is now part of a game.

Even though I loved The Last of Us Part II personally, I don't mind if you didn't like the game as long as you don't tell me or anyone they shouldn't like/love the game. I respect your opinion. Congrats to TLOU2 team and ND for the amazing wins. An amazing performance by Eddie. I am grateful to ND for bringing such an impactful stories into our lives thay moved every body to their core. I knew Troy was a singer in a band prior to taking acting but little did I know that Ashley wanted to be an Astronaut and even lesser I knew that Neil inflicted the actor's personalities in their characters of Joel and Ellie. This just gave me chills. Its like a never ending list of all the hard work that has gone into developing a masterpiece of a game.
This song, everytime I try to sing it my voice always cracks at somepoint. Always.
Last of Us, Last of Us pt. 2 and Future Days are masterpieces. I cried when I got the ending, and won't lie, I'm tearing up right now.

Its not a game, my god even masterpiece can't describe how life changing it is, its a PHENOMENON that history will never repeat ❤️🌿
Just lost the only thing I care about in this world. And this song immediately came to mind. Now I sit here balling like an infant at 43 years old wondering how I made it all these years without knowing the true depths of grief , pain and suffering.

Great performance, always sing this song and the ending song when I'm free. It reminds me of that beautiful scene at the beginning of the game and how Eli was trying to sing it and remembers her beautiful days with Joel when kido was smiling

Poor Eddie man, almost a year later and I can still remember how the whole chat was like "SKIP SKIP SKIP" during his performance. I know many people didn't like the game but that was absolutely disrespectful.

@@sandrobsnake To be fair, I think some of the criticisms were legit like the pacing issues in the game and the perfectly convenient moments in the story (Example: Abby just so happening to run into Joel and Tommy), but the blind rage against the game was and is some of the dumbest shit I've seen from the gaming community.

But pacing "problems" is always a personal taste... I had some pacing problems until the moment I saw those so called "problems" a narrative necessity. At least for me...
And I tend to say that this game has two moments of lazy writing, how Abby finds Joel/Tommy and Mel in the battlefront... But besides those two minor things this game is bullet proof from a narrative perspective.
And that's why the hate is much more restrained these days, once a debate starts and people questions the "not so valid" criticism, they normally hide...
