I really like the predator vibes. Advantages means nothing if the equivalent of batman had to fight everything with disadvantaged. He knows the art of war And the red in his eyes as he meets his son in a green tunic. He gets snapped out of his bloodlust by the contrast, his battle mentality being stopped
Thank you! I was really going for Ody being a hunter/predator and yes, Predator (movie) was one of my inspirations along with Jaws, where we actually don't see the killer until midway through the movie.
here we see odysseus, a man who has lost 599 men, who sent 6 to their doom knowingly, who chose the deaths of all his remaining men... a man so far gone he can hardly be called a man as opposed to the monster he now is... and you truely brought it to life!
It's ✨Magic✨JK actually my first draft had him running around in the rafters and dropping in in the middle of the circle but that would make too much noise so I just put him there in the middle like he was there the whole time.
One thing I love is that in many animatics it's the one who warns the others that Oddiseas's plans for every fight that is killed. He killed the one who wasn't panicking.
I chose to have the one who was sorta cocky be killed off by Odysseus first. But most importantly, Odysseus targeted the ones carrying torches.....just like Scylla.
The fact that Telemachus is the only one who have colour-and no ordinary color, green colour! (opposite/complementary to red) Not only does the movement of the characters felt so alive, or the fact the situation you put made so much sense here. But also the amount of detail and use of colour as lightning and highlight of the Story as a way of storytelling!? Incredible!
Thank you! Although it was mostly coincidence. Telemachus's color has been decided before I made this animatic, since I gave Ody blue, Penelope yellow, and combined, they make green (Telemachus). I like to think of it as Telemachus in green represents life amongst a sea of death (blood red). And thank you for your observations! You're the first one to point out the use of lighting and color combined so I really appreciate it that you noticed!
It took me until now to realize it, but I bet you that "he's aiming for the torches" means that they're making themselves easy targets by carrying torches around, rather than Odysseus shooting the torches to turn out the lights.
See, that's a more scary thing to imagine than Odysseus aiming for the shadows moving under the torches. They need torches to see and navigate around the palace, he doesn't, he needs the torches to spotlight his enemies. Knowing the halls doesn't even hold a candle to building the freaking palace the halls are in.
@@ns2dstudios Yes! That was some *clever* storytelling! And then of course the bit with Eurylochus having a torch was spot on. I may be a tad bit obsessed with Epic... XD
I realized that in "no longer you" he talks about Odysseus's casle being covered in red and a trail of bodys and that means its still Odysseus just that he's a monster and a killer, a killer who kills teh suiters infront ofhsson by acadent.
in no longer you’s second chorus, there’s a chanting choir that states what’s gonna happen in the future after the underworld saga. the chants go as follows : “ SI REN SONG SCY LLA THROAT MU TIN Y LIGHT NING BOLT FIGHT PO SEI DON KILL ALL THE SUI TORS FOR LOVE” these were officially recognized by jorge after the thunder saga released, with only the first four being confirmed, since he didn’t wanna spoil the next few sagas. the second two are pretty prominent though so it’s easier to make out what it says. there is another chant sesh during the stretched out “youuuuuuuu” where they chant the same way they do in this song “ODY SSE US ODY SSE US”
@@danganidotit makes a lot of sense that he was willing to confirm that when he did. By that point, we’d already gotten past the parts of that which really qualified as spoilers, at least as far as protecting how exactly it would play out. Beyond that, the fact that this version of the story was heading towards a Poseidon showdown was both obvious and not hidden at all in the snippets we’d received over time, and the suitors getting slaughtered is just the ending of the Odyssey. It would be a pretty huge departure for that not to be expected, particularly with the clear intention of Ody’s character development to prepare him for that.
this is the one and only time i have ever seen someone aknowledge the "if if fight these monsters is it YOU ill find" i thought i lost it for a few days
My best guess is Ody heard the suitors plotting nefarious things against his wife and son and it's what drove him to become a monster. Thanks for watching!
Just a little fun fact: the reason they make a point of saying "Our weapons- they're missing!" isn't just because they're missing normally. In the Odyssy, Athena turns their weapons aside when they try to throw spears at Odysseus and co.
I love the way Odysseus is targeting the ones with the torches the same way Scylla did with his crew. It's like she said, "We're the same you and I." Also, the way this is animated is reminding me of the intro to "Batman: the Animated series," which feels fitting since Ody's got the prep time and is striking from the shadows.
That's because he did. The suitors basically spoke loudly about their evil plan within ear shot of Odysseus. Dude had all the time he needed before the suitors took action.

I really like the predator vibes. Advantages means nothing if the equivalent of batman had to fight everything with disadvantaged. He knows the art of war
And the red in his eyes as he meets his son in a green tunic. He gets snapped out of his bloodlust by the contrast, his battle mentality being stopped
Thank you! I was really going for Ody being a hunter/predator and yes, Predator (movie) was one of my inspirations along with Jaws, where we actually don't see the killer until midway through the movie.
I mean.. Ares DID get the bloodshed he was promised. Athena knew.
After watching how the suitors treated Telemachus and talking about what their plans were, I like to come back to this video for some catharticism
here we see odysseus, a man who has lost 599 men, who sent 6 to their doom knowingly, who chose the deaths of all his remaining men... a man so far gone he can hardly be called a man as opposed to the monster he now is... and you truely brought it to life!
It’s 600 under his command so yeah
Lost all but 43 to Polyphemus and Poseidon
Elpenor dies offscreen, so 42 left
Six to Scylla and the rest to Zeus
And 0 on the war the most impressive one

"you don't think i know my own palace, I built it" is such a raw line in that context
that is a power move
Seeing him appear in the middle of the four men made me think he crawled to that spot
It's ✨Magic✨JK actually my first draft had him running around in the rafters and dropping in in the middle of the circle but that would make too much noise so I just put him there in the middle like he was there the whole time.
0:32 - 0:50 The fact that the danger motif is played for Odysseus is amazing
@@cozero8262 I didn’t notice that
Makes sense thought this is from the prospective of the suitors
One thing I love is that in many animatics it's the one who warns the others that Oddiseas's plans for every fight that is killed. He killed the one who wasn't panicking.
I chose to have the one who was sorta cocky be killed off by Odysseus first. But most importantly, Odysseus targeted the ones carrying torches.....just like Scylla.
@@ns2dstudios Such a good callback, love it.
Thanks for sharing your art with everyone, it's awesome!

"You don't think I know my own palace? I BUILT IT!" I love how scary Odysseus is in this song
I was definitely going for horror, with Ody as the predator/killer
"If I fight these monsters, is it you I'll find?" Gnawing at the bars of my enclosure rn
I love the sound effect they use to represent Ody using his bow
I love the detail (1:02 ) where he has a trail of blood just like the prophet saida
The fact that Telemachus is the only one who have colour-and no ordinary color, green colour! (opposite/complementary to red)
Not only does the movement of the characters felt so alive, or the fact the situation you put made so much sense here.
I can't wait for this song. It's basically just the danger motif
You said this 3 days ago. Have you seen the animatic for Scylla? Coz omg parallels!
@@ns2dstudios Yes! That was some *clever* storytelling! And then of course the bit with Eurylochus having a torch was spot on. I may be a tad bit obsessed with Epic... XD
So the ending with Telemachus? That's the "Legendary" instrumentation over the "Just A Man" chord progression. I'm so excited for this song.
Oh... hey, son..... want to help me take out the trash?
didn't even realize it was just a man

Man that prophet wasnt joking when he said palace covered in red
I realized that in "no longer you" he talks about Odysseus's casle being covered in red and a trail of bodys and that means its still Odysseus just that he's a monster and a killer, a killer who kills teh suiters infront ofhsson by acadent.
in no longer you’s second chorus, there’s a chanting choir that states what’s gonna happen in the future after the underworld saga. the chants go as follows : “ SI REN SONG SCY LLA THROAT MU TIN Y LIGHT NING BOLT FIGHT PO SEI DON KILL ALL THE SUI TORS FOR LOVE” these were officially recognized by jorge after the thunder saga released, with only the first four being confirmed, since he didn’t wanna spoil the next few sagas. the second two are pretty prominent though so it’s easier to make out what it says. there is another chant sesh during the stretched out “youuuuuuuu” where they chant the same way they do in this song “ODY SSE US ODY SSE US”
@@danganidot thats so cool we both noticed what was happening
@@danganidotit makes a lot of sense that he was willing to confirm that when he did. By that point, we’d already gotten past the parts of that which really qualified as spoilers, at least as far as protecting how exactly it would play out. Beyond that, the fact that this version of the story was heading towards a Poseidon showdown was both obvious and not hidden at all in the snippets we’d received over time, and the suitors getting slaughtered is just the ending of the Odyssey. It would be a pretty huge departure for that not to be expected, particularly with the clear intention of Ody’s character development to prepare him for that.
@@bellowingsilence i mean yeah, don’t shoot the messenger though, i’m just restating what jorge said himself

this is the one and only time i have ever seen someone aknowledge the

Welp. I guess we are safe to assume this is the trail of bodies the prophet mentioned? Ssssoooo- yay?

"Warrior of the mind" is technically a synonym for "psychological warfare"
Woah- that's a good mindset
Not necessarily. Mostly just talking about being strategic rather than just attacking. But psychological warfare is not off the table.
The wrath of a father's rage. Shouldn't have tested it. Loved every second of this btw!
My best guess is Ody heard the suitors plotting nefarious things against his wife and son and it's what drove him to become a monster. Thanks for watching!

"...You think I don't know my own palace? I BUILT IT!". Love the phrase and the rage.❤🔥
Just a little fun fact: the reason they make a point of saying "Our weapons- they're missing!" isn't just because they're missing normally. In the Odyssy, Athena turns their weapons aside when they try to throw spears at Odysseus and co.

Oh wow! I gotta listen to this again!
I love the way Odysseus is targeting the ones with the torches the same way Scylla did with his crew.
It's like she said, "We're the same you and I."
Also, the way this is animated is reminding me of the intro to "Batman: the Animated series," which feels fitting since Ody's got the prep time and is striking from the shadows.
That's because he did. The suitors basically spoke loudly about their evil plan within ear shot of Odysseus. Dude had all the time he needed before the suitors took action.
