  • These great looking graveyard fences can be used for your tabletop game terrain or dioramas. Perfect for games like Dungeons and Dragons, Frostgrave and more. Great for a graveyard, but can also be used as fencing around an old mansion or whatever else your mind can imagine. Crafted mostly from XPS foam, but some items to complete this build can be found online. Watch the video to see how they are made and where to get all the parts and pieces needed for this creepy build.

    I've been following your channel for only about 2 months and I have to admit, at first you really used to p*** me off with your repetitious comments (e.g "go ahead and......). But, as I've watched, you progressed and "matured " as a maker and presenter, and I now thoroughly enjoy your channel. I used to make terrain for wargaming , many years ago, but your technique and craftsmanship far out-weigh what I used to do. I now marvel at your craftsmanship and imagination. I will continue to be a rapid supporter.

  • @KylaraKuhn
    @KylaraKuhn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    These turned out great. Only thing I could imagine to make them more modular is to make the fences open on one side and us a magnet at the bottom of each pillar to attach them to a single post at the start or end. That way you could make an endless long fence if you wanted to with not having to deal with 2 posts next to each other. Perhaps by making a few posts with two magnets facing in 90 degrees, you would be able to make corners too. Not sure about that as the posts don't seem to be square looking from the top down.
    Like usual: way above the average you see here on youtube.

    I am surprised you didnt make the fences with just one Pillar on each and have magnet where the wall would connect to the pillar beside it to give it a more continuous look. Even put a magnet on each side of the pillar so you can have it go 90 degrees in either way. Might of saved you some time since its less pillars to make.

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could definitely do that, but to have the "iron" part of the fence touch and have it look continuous would make it so that the 90 degree section wouldn't work. There would be a gap at that point, so I figured I'd go this route. Good idea though Cloud.

    What brand of XPS foam do you use? I have a heck of a time getting the engraving into the foam to stay and when carving and the texture rollers are almost worthless because it bounces back. I am wondering if I need to get a different brand of foam.

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not really the brand, but I use Owens mostly. XPS really does like to bounce back. You have to sometimes "over" texture. I find that applying your mod podge right after and letting it cure can help with some definition. Reducing the time the foam has to react. When I use rollers I sometimes go back and use a pen or hot wire knife to define certain lines.

    • @KylaraKuhn
      @KylaraKuhn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael. I'm from the Netherlands. It depends on what you want. Raab Karcher has the BASF Styrodur that you see used by Gerard Boom from Shiftinglands a lot. They have some stores around the Netherlands. Careful with what kind of Styrodur you buy. There are harder and softer kinds and you definitely want the hardest you can get. Personally I like "van Beek" for foamboard. Search on their site for foamboard zonder papieren deklaag (foamboard without paper) . You get a package of 15 slabs of 100 x 70 x 1 cm for about 30 Euro. It lasts you a long time. In a case like this build, I mix the two materials and use as much of the foamboard I can as that is even harder than the styrodur and keeps textures and indentations even better.

    • @TheSmuey
      @TheSmuey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KylaraKuhn thanks for the tips! I was looking for a cheaper supplier for foamboard than I have now, so I'll definitely check them out. I think I have found some styrodur, but I'll make sure to check the hardness before I buy some next week.
      Really looking forward to using some foam with the stuff I can make with my 3d printer!
