Thank you for such a great video. I am in my 70's and just want to try hand quilting. I followed your instructions for the template and it came out great. I also practiced making the arcs on paper which have also been easy to do. Now I am going to make a quilted pillow case to see how I do with that. Thanks so much, you are a very talented person and teacher.

Watching this reminds me of my Mother and Grandmother who did this without any of the handy tools. Only a needle and thread.

Brilliant tutorial!!! Especially that homemade template and explaining how to know where to start to avoid having to tie off all the time. Thank you so much. I've seen baptist fan quilting patterns in books, but nobody has explained how to sew one's way through the pattern. Thank you very much for such clear instructions - I now feel this is possible🎉😍

Great tutorial. A few weeks ago I purchased a Baptist Fan ruler similar to the one you made in acrylic, I love it and I'm now going to follow your instructions and make one with your markings. Thank you for a great and informative video.💜

My grandmother used string with 3 knots at equal distance apart and a pencil in the last knot to draw the design.

Nice video. At the present time I'm machine quilting baptist fan design. It is tedious, one row at a time after drawing each one. Someday I'll try the hand stitching.

Thanks for the tutorial. My sister wanted it on her quilt that I made but I couldn't find a pattern for it and had trouble figuring out how to do the second and subsequent rows. I plan to machine quilt it.

Thanks a lot for this and other brilliant explanations of Hand Quilting! As I almost finished my very first Quilt Top and I was wondering if to give it to a Longer Quilter or to quilt it by hand, my decision is made: I’ll quilt it by hand and after Your information it seems as if it won’t get as difficult as I thought :)👍

I just got my General's pastel pencils. Junk. It marks on rough fabric. It marks on other material if you first wet the tip, which then falls off because it's too soft. I can even scribble on the fabric and it doesn't show. I got took on that.
