I’m on fl and When adjusting volume should you try to keep the volume of your vocals below or above the beat,because sometimes I’d make a song and I’d turn down the beat because it peaks up to yellow. And I play with my voice volume since a lot of the beats I hop on are louder type beats but when I listen to it either my voice is too low or my beat is too loud. I hope this isn’t confusing Im basically just trying to figure out how to balance my voice volume and beat volume.
Turn the beat down first, so you have headroom/space for your vocals.. Then you can turn everything up together on the master with a limiter. This sounds like a gain staging thing. I guess I'll have to make a video about this now 😅
vocal rider doesn't add compression, it uses a waves algorithm to do automatic gain compensation which is what Mr four eyes did in his video manually. there's going to be times where you need to adjust clip gain manually, but plugins like Waves Vocal rider, gainrider 3, waveridertg etc do gain compensation automatically

I will add this to the list! But what I do is listen on different systems. Headphones, Bluetooth Speaker, TV Speaker, Laptop Speaker, Car, etc.
Would also help a little if the vocal was tracked with some slight compression so that you won’t have to do much automation post.

Interesting. I like when my vocals come out of pocket, it makes it obvious that there's more than one recording. But I layer you a lot. 🤷

Use elastic audio (Pro Tools) or time warp (logic) but it’s all manual labor.

I’m gonna make this first part easy for lazy people. Waves plug in Vocal Rider, voila automatic volume automation.
Keyword is lazy. We are shooting for the stars tho so we will go the extra mile. Vocal Rider does something but not what manually automating does.
