I recommend adding an effect named "sculk withering", it only happens when standing on a sculk blocks your health bar slowly turning into sculk and When your health bar is fully covered, you start taking damage (also the more your healt bar gets covered the slower you get)
Or it will taking your max hp untill you become infected, or if effect wear of you will get hp back, so hardcore players could become sculks too, or it could just kill you if sculk wears out

Either way, I enjoy this concept a vast amount, however, for such a mod like this, it may be necessary for there to be "Counters" against the Skulk, perhaps there are to be enchantments to gain weaponry and armor made to combat the skulk, perhaps even special items that could mask the presence of the Player against the Skulk, perhaps feather falling or Leather boots could be modified to serve such a purpose.

Minus the player becoming Sculk. THIS IS WHAT I WANT IN AN OPTIONAL GAMEMODE. Infection Mode: Very small chance to spawn a Sculk Catalyst a few blocks underground that spreads out at a defined rate. Every 15-25 blocks the Sculk spreads, another Sculk Catalyst is created. This will continue indefinitely until every Sculk Catalyst is destroyed. I suppose the only downside would be that it would make the Deep Dark less impactful... so perhaps some GameRule where only once a player has entered the Deep Dark the Catalysts become "Awakened"
the sculk spreading infinitely kinda reminds me of how corruption/crimson spreads in terraria would be neat to play on a world with sculk infinitely spreading
Feels a little like its taking away the point, not just from the mob but from the sculk in general. Swift Sneak already does this best without ruining the sculk entirely.

an interesting feature would be to be able to drag other players and mobs into the scullk to be absorbed by it just imagine playing on a rpg sever with this installed and you are just passing through and suddenly a players emerge from the scullk under your feet and drags you down into the scullk to become one of them
It would be cool if the skulk only glowed in the dark/ at night as well as it could overtake trees/plants and you should try give all skulk mobs cool corrupt textures aswell as when the skulk mobs attack you, they infect you and you need a cure or else you will slowly convert to a skulk player, aswell as it would be cool if the catalysts spawned below 0 in the dark area and the longer your world goes on, the more time the catalyst has to go through all the cave systems until it reaches and begins infecting the surface which then makes it harder to exterminate and to the catalyst - then maybe giving way to a new armour OR a potion that gives you a invisibility to skulk creatures for a certain period of time allowing you to go into the skulk caves and destroy the catalyst? JUST SEEMS PRETTY COOL
3:19 I think the problem with the sheep is (and mind you I don't know anything about how this game works) the wool is a separate model than the sheep, as in, the naked sheep model is always present, but simply covered by the wool model. (heck, if you stick your face in a sheep you can sometimes see the naked model underneath.) So the skulk thing only changes the model underneath, I think?

This sounds like the perfect Warden Origins Mod tbh. -Just turn the catalyst into your spawn point. -add the Wardens sonic blast with a cool down. -and maybe allow the use of Items
A good idea would be that if the player had food or weapons they became sculk versions. For example if I had a netherite sword it would become a netherite sculk sword.
This is a perfect combination of actually useful features and, well, just plain comedy and 'why the hell NOT?'s In my opinion the best kind of mods. Useful but also hilarious.
this really reminds me of a modpack named blight fall. its a survival esc modpack where your goal is to restore the planet and root out the "blight" which is going to become progressively stronger/worst overtime. I don't think it ever got properly finished tho, because I tended to run into blocks that just would revert back at all.

Even Mojang blew off questions about why modders can add the exact same things in a quicker time..they didn't have an answer for it really besides something that sounded like an automatic voice mail or something

This is an actual mod, that I'll release soon, just another video with it need to finish first. It being more flammable is also something I did, as sculk takes damage 2 times faster from fire. There's a lot of things I didn't include in the video.
Idea: COD:Ghosts had an Extinction mode. The Cryptids and the Sculk are alike. Therefore, you could build on this mod to create Minecraft's Extinction mode.
I think it'd be neat if overworld sculk catalysts could build "sculk towers" as they expand, so when a sculk catalyst converts a large area, it makes it easier to see where the center of the infection is, and adds a neat challenge to climb up to the top of the tower to fight the sculk! Also, for the vision of the sculk'd players, it could probably more accurately show the sculk's blindness if they had perpetual Blindness and got to apply the Glowing effect to any entity that makes sound. That way, they'd have more limited environmental awareness, but absolute, real-time awareness of other players and mobs. Also, for sculk shriekers, maybe they can give notifications to sculk'd players with a little button they can click in the message that sculks them directly near the shrieker, so that way, you can have the terrifying "OH NO" moment of triggering the shrieker and having a sculk'd player emerge straight out of the ground to get you from basically anywhere in the map!
is there a setting for this to change if we can hold things ourselves when we become a sculk? -edit- or an enchant that can be on all items, so you can hold/use them, probably something simply named "sculkified" or something lol.

Feature Idea: When you're a sculk person you can go underground and kind of into a spectator mode that allows you to walk around the area un detected. But in this mode you can only walk where there is sculk.
Imagine this as a skyblock biome. Given like half a chunk to start on with others about. But you've got to get to them before the skulk takes over. Or a warden comes when you're unprepared.
This would be a cool idea like trying to see how long you can last without getting infected by the sculk it reminds me of one of my favorite mods bacteria where you can set a block and activate backteria will eat or replace it with the block pretty cool!
I think that removing the “unable to hold items” and making it “get debuffs when not on sculk” would make this a great survival mod.

I love the hive mind thing that happens when you activate a skulk sensor
Make a server were the players try to defeat the sculk
Sculk trees would be nice aswell for the sculck players to potentoialy make a skulk village!
This mod is beyond *sculked*
