Cool tip about the 1000xm4: You don't need to turn them on to pair with NFC! As long as your NFC and bluetooth are both on, touching your phone to the headphones will also power them on! Also, as an Android user, consider trying them with the multipoint off so you can use LDAC (some people say it makes no difference, but personally I found all my music to sound better with LDAC on, so much that I actually prefer to use LDAC over having multipoint enabled).

The piece of shits just stopped charging. I tried replacing the battery and resetting it and whatever else I found to try. Still a POS thats not usable. I’m not buying Sony headphones again! For $350 you would expect it to last longer than just over a year!

Each Brand has their own characteristics. JBL known for it's quality of their bass. While SONY known for their balance quality. If you say for Noice Cancellation, I Think SONY is still leading. Also definitely, For pricing when I decide to buy a high end ANC Headphone, SONY has the most reasonable price with good looking and premium design, good performance, ease of use features and app. I own WH-1000XM4 for about 1 month, I satisfy with it. I'm currently returning the WH-1000XM4 because there is no high end treble, no matter what I do with the equalizer. I purchased it to replace some older JBL's that have fantastic audio but just fit too tight. The Sony is way more comfortable, but the audio fidelity sounds muffled compared to the older JBL's I have. Oh, they do have bass and mids, but cut off around 8K. Would the JBL Tour Two be a good replacement?
I own both. Sony's ANC and app win. For comfort I prefer the JBLs. The Sony headphone don't breathe as well as the JBL. Soundwise, I prefer the JBL across the range. The Sony is too bass heavy, even with the EQs. Neither of these compress the sound too much. If I had to buy only one again, it'd be the JBLs.
The reason to toggle the option to choose whether you want multi point connection between 2 devices is cause, when connected to 2 devices, volume control is not synced to any device, instead the headphone assigns the volume settings without sync. so if you want the volume buttons to also set the volume of the phone, you'll either need to turn off the multi point, or have 2 devices connected at the same time. for me, I only use my tour one M2 for my phone, so I've turned off that settings.
I have the xm4 I also have the Know Calms which I prefer for comfort they cost me 200 on sale the sound on the Calms is comparable to the xm4s, not the ANC but if I'm at home I reach for the Calms [ I'm up later than my other half and she doesn't want me waking her up listening to your videos at 2am] If I'm out and about which is very rare these days I'm reaching for the Sony for the NC even though my other half doesn't particularly like being ignored on trips. LOL I found the Tour One JBL on eBay for 149.99 New inbox inc shipping so now I'm waiting for their arrival and figured I'd watch your video to see what you thought. Ty for the video I watch your stuff when I'm too tired to play Guild Wars late at night.
I have to like the personality if I'm gonna watch a TH-camr regularly, like they can't be annoying, but other than that, if you've earned my trust in your reviews of products I come to hear about the products, hear your opinon and cross reference, it's not about sets or backgrounds or anything, you can have the most boring looking production ever but with good info, and helpful insight from someone who got to use the product, I'll be fine. People always gotta make it weird though lol.
AVOID the JBL Tour Ones. They are useless if you want to use them whilst travelling. They are so quiet and the ANC is terrible. Ironically the ones I have were bought in an airport but they are too quiet to hear a movie on the plane as the engine noise is louder. Total waste of money
idea @ Sony or any other company's apps ... have a setting to either turn the NOTIFICATION for updates off, but a manual way to update so it doesn't bug the user .... or at least delay the notification for a certain amount of time to again ... not bug the user
JBL TOUR ONE volume is too low, I have to set the volume to at least 65% to hear it normally. Can't set it lower than 50% because it sounds very, very small. The problem is not my ears but the volume of the headphones is too low. *Fact (I just discovered that when connecting with a 3.5 cable to a laptop, the volume will be normal and can be heard normally at 10%.)
When connecting to 2 devices simultaneously the quality isn't able to play the highest bitrate. Quality isn't able to run at its best option unless that option for 2 devices is off.

The jbl toure 1 and the sony wh1000xm4 are both great headphones. However sony always have the edge for better ANC over the jbl toure 1. However if have to pick one expensive headphones over the sony wh1000xm4 to me it has to be the jbl toure 1 because i love the jbl signature sound over the sony. Once again great review. I have the xm3 and my ears inside are dirty, they are too close to the ears. And they don't sit very well on my ears either. The xm5 sony is much better than the xm3, more comfortable on the ears and no problem with dirt in the ears.
Yes. They are very quiet. So quiet that they are totally useless for travel as the ANC is terrible so you can't hear the voices in movies when on a plane. The engine noise is louder.

The jbl tour ones are quiet af!!! My galaxy bud pro's are louder. I don't get it. For such big headphones and expensive they should be louder. Shit you can buy $30 headphones that get louder than the jbl tour ones.

I have the Sony 1000 xm4s which I like but I'd like to say if I'm in a hurry and I'm going to be wearing them ALL day I reach for my Know Calm's they sound really good the NC is fair and they are comfortable. Also, the Sonys are now 289.99 on Amazon and after having the JBL 750 Nc's there is no way I'm buying JBL the software updates screw up and your headphones are trash.
I was very disappointed by the JBL's. First, I got sold a used unit that was listed as "New" in e-bay and the seller and he won't take em back, but I'm sure e-bay will step in and refund me. Apart from that though, the fit on these was terrible. My "daily drivers" are first gen Bose QC 35's I bought 5 years ago, and they are just second to NONE when it comes to comfort, and I'd say ANC as well. Now, I still haven't tried the Sony XM4's which people say are the kings of ANC, but I've seen the graphs and the Bose block out considerably more of the lower frequencies and they're both very close in mid and high frequencies. Anyway, the JBL's have a TERRIBLE fit, at least on my head. The earcups do not conform to your ears very well, causing an incomplete seal, so sound can still get in through the gaps. Secondly, the ANC underperforms by a HUGE margin when compared to the Bose, even if I pressed the earcups against my ears a little bit, enough to cause them to comply and seal. It's not even close. Third, out of the box, they sound extremely flat and unappealing; very "empty" sounding and thin, if that makes sense. Basically no bass, kind of a tinny sound. Well, I downloaded the app and then quickly put on JBL's bass boosted preset. I then put on a test track that has yummy bass, with the headphones around 60% volume. To my surprise and dismay, the cans started playing with very heavy distortion! I quickly lowered the volume to like 20%, but then that's too low to enjoy music so I then pressed pause, went back to the flat EQ and played the track again, but it sounded too flat so I made my own conservative bass boosted EQ. They did sound better after that but it's just "meh". Did you have this distortion issue? I'm thinking I might just have gotten bamboozled by the seller and he sold me a used unit that maybe he damaged. It was selling for $240, which is $60 bellow MSRP and below what all the other major websites are selling it for, so that should have been a red flag for me right there and then but oh well. The unit also came with a completely dead battery upon receipt, the box was scuffed and was missing one of the round stickers (there was proof of adhesive and there was a sticker on the opposite side) and the one round sticker that WAS installed was very loose and looked like it had been opened up previously and lazily reinstalled. Electronics always come in with the battery anywhere from 30%-60% in order to preserve the lithium ion battery, since for long term storage, it's safest and healthiest for the battery to store them close to their nominal voltage. Maybe all these issues I'm reporting are due to the fact that I got duped by the seller and actually bought a used and damaged pair of headphones, but I still wanna share this story for people to be wary that the FIT, which has nothing to do with whether the unit was actually brand new or not, was actually very bad, at least for my ears/head. If you're buying a pair of ANC headphones and actually value and wanna have a good noise canceling experience, you're gonna need the earcups to comply to the curvature in your head and cause a good seal, otherwise the ANC won't work at its full potential. Now I know, earcups are stiffer when they're new, but the pair of Bose even when brand new and even when I replace the earcups, they form an absolutely perfect seal and the comfort is just top notch. I will be going to Best Buy next time to see if they'll allow me to try a pair on before purchase, though that might be difficult amidst the restrictions in PR due to the pandemic, but at least I'll still be able to return the item and get a refund and I'll know for a fact that it's actually new. Sorry for the long post, but I hope it can help some people who are looking to either get their first pair of ANC cans or are looking to replace/upgrade from an old pair. Lower the bass and raising the mids and highs slightly on the Sony XM4s and it has a beautifully detailed balanced sound. I LOVE THEM!

for me in my experience JBL and Skullcandy are the best, I had SONY earbuds same model and after like 3 months stopped working one side

I have the xm3 and my ears inside are dirty, they are too close to the ears. And they don't sit very well on my ears either. The xm5 sony is much better than the xm3, more comfortable on the ears and no problem with dirt in the ears.

Yes. They are very quiet. So quiet that they are totally useless for travel as the ANC is terrible so you can't hear the voices in movies when on a plane. The engine noise is louder.

I have the Sony 1000 xm4s which I like but I'd like to say if I'm in a hurry and I'm going to be wearing them ALL day I reach for my Know Calm's they sound really good the NC is fair and they are comfortable. Also, the Sonys are now 289.99 on Amazon and after having the JBL 750 Nc's there is no way I'm buying JBL the software updates screw up and your headphones are trash.

I was very disappointed by the JBL's. First, I got sold a used unit that was listed as "New" in e-bay and the seller and he won't take em back, but I'm sure e-bay will step in and refund me. Apart from that though, the fit on these was terrible. My "daily drivers" are first gen Bose QC 35's I bought 5 years ago, and they are just second to NONE when it comes to comfort, and I'd say ANC as well. Now, I still haven't tried the Sony XM4's which people say are the kings of ANC, but I've seen the graphs and the Bose block out considerably more of the lower frequencies and they're both very close in mid and high frequencies. Anyway, the JBL's have a TERRIBLE fit, at least on my head. The earcups do not conform to your ears very well, causing an incomplete seal, so sound can still get in through the gaps. Secondly, the ANC underperforms by a HUGE margin when compared to the Bose, even if I pressed the earcups against my ears a little bit, enough to cause them to comply and seal. It's not even close. Third, out of the box, they sound extremely flat and unappealing; very "empty" sounding and thin, if that makes sense. Basically no bass, kind of a tinny sound. Well, I downloaded the app and then quickly put on JBL's bass boosted preset. I then put on a test track that has yummy bass, with the headphones around 60% volume. To my surprise and dismay, the cans started playing with very heavy distortion! I quickly lowered the volume to like 20%, but then that's too low to enjoy music so I then pressed pause, went back to the flat EQ and played the track again, but it sounded too flat so I made my own conservative bass boosted EQ. They did sound better after that but it's just "meh". Did you have this distortion issue? I'm thinking I might just have gotten bamboozled by the seller and he sold me a used unit that maybe he damaged. It was selling for $240, which is $60 bellow MSRP and below what all the other major websites are selling it for, so that should have been a red flag for me right there and then but oh well. The unit also came with a completely dead battery upon receipt, the box was scuffed and was missing one of the round stickers (there was proof of adhesive and there was a sticker on the opposite side) and the one round sticker that WAS installed was very loose and looked like it had been opened up previously and lazily reinstalled. Electronics always come in with the battery anywhere from 30%-60% in order to preserve the lithium ion battery, since for long term storage, it's safest and healthiest for the battery to store them close to their nominal voltage. Maybe all these issues I'm reporting are due to the fact that I got duped by the seller and actually bought a used and damaged pair of headphones, but I still wanna share this story for people to be wary that the FIT, which has nothing to do with whether the unit was actually brand new or not, was actually very bad, at least for my ears/head. If you're buying a pair of ANC headphones and actually value and wanna have a good noise canceling experience, you're gonna need the earcups to comply to the curvature in your head and cause a good seal, otherwise the ANC won't work at its full potential. Now I know, earcups are stiffer when they're new, but the pair of Bose even when brand new and even when I replace the earcups, they form an absolutely perfect seal and the comfort is just top notch. I will be going to Best Buy next time to see if they'll allow me to try a pair on before purchase, though that might be difficult amidst the restrictions in PR due to the pandemic, but at least I'll still be able to return the item and get a refund and I'll know for a fact that it's actually new. Sorry for the long post, but I hope it can help some people who are looking to either get their first pair of ANC cans or are looking to replace/upgrade from an old pair.
