Thanks for watching! Let me know in a comment with what you're going to start doing to grow your in person community and meet new people. And keep it fun! If you want to work with me as a business coach, watch my training "5 steps to growing a yoga business at home" at ashesyoga.com/register
If only it could be less awkward 😅! I love these tips! They're realistic and doable. Most events a re low cost or even free. I literally want to crawl out of my skin when I face social awkwardness lol.
The tips are meant for anyone who wants to build an in-person community. You would have to get out into the community - extrovert or otherwise. I'm actually quite introverted. Large gatherings are draining and I need a lot of alone time. But I'm not shy. It definitely may be more uncomfortable if social settings aren't your thing. If you're not interested in building an in person community, online is a great option. 😉🙏🏼
Thx Ashley. This video is helpful. I’m in a new spot. Here we go again. Gotta set myself back up again! I’ll begin with my city center.. P.S. ur new bundle of joy was born a day before mine! Dec. 30,2022 ❣️was our D-day. Take care.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. I’m always looking for interesting spaces to teach classes. We were in an art gallery last week and I started chatting it up with the gallery owner. You never know what opportunities may be available until you put yours me out there!
Ashely, thank you for the tips and suggestions! I'm working on building a community while also teaching. I have some connections at one of our local schools that I will be inviting to a yoga session at the park.
Great video Ashley!! Such a good reminder for connection & joy also! This winter I also joined as a spare for the curling club. Also have started to volunteer at my near by school helping kids to read. So these could also be a way of creating community in the local area! I interact with several ladies in both these areas & its fun & I am getting to know people! Thank you so much :)
loved this video! very inspiring - would love to see a video where you explain more about perhaps switching between personal and online. I'd love to travel during summer and would love to see more of my students also online. Most of them dislike unfortunately online sessions... :/ maybe you have a tip how do perform a little "pause" or transition like this
Awesome tips Ashley! Lol I realized I’m not very social and don’t love doing those things anymore. I don’t even know if we have any local coffee shops. Also - I’d be interested to know if you consider it a business expense doing those things since it’s sorta like Business development. Or at least payments to yoga studios. That stuff all adds up + not a coffee / booze drinker.
If you don't love doing it, that's okay! There are other ways to grow a business. I currently don't do any of these things since I don't teach locally. Coffee shops are not a business expense unless I'm having a business meeting there. Definitely the cost of drop-ins, memberships, and packages at a yoga studios IS a business expense and comes from my business account. It falls under "continuing education" category.
Yay! Well, I'm originally from a small town in minnesota, but went to MSUM for college and then stuck around for a while. I lived there for 10.5 years. I really want to go back and visit. It's been too long.
Of course! I talk so much about teaching online, I thought I'd put out some content for the in-person teachers. That's what this video is. But you can count on lots of tips and tricks for online yoga teaching. That's more of my specialty. A specific video about "building online community" I'm sure will come soon. I've probably already got information out there on exactly that. Online provides way more options.

Thanks for these suggestions! I definitely need to spend more time connecting with my local community to encourage participation in my yoga classes.

yoga in the park is so much fun (if you live in a place where the weather is okay). Good luck!
