    The Epic Collection is the best thing to ever happen to collected editions. To have everything collected in proper reading order is a dream come true, it Mae's more complicated series like X-Men a breeze to read for new fans and releasing them out of order is a brilliant move and I suspect the Epics are responsible for the new found love for silver age books like Daredevil.
    Credit also has to Marvel for doing a good job of reprinting the books. Yes, it make take a few years for them to get a book back on print but at least you can be reasonably sure it's going to happen so there's no fear of starting collecting a line and never getting to complete it.
    The Epics fulfill the childhood dream of owning every Hulk, Spider-Man, Avengers etc comic. It's crazy to think they're almost done with so many long running titles. We really are blessed. Here's to another Epic 10 years!

    I believe Ang Lee's Hulk is a stone cold classic. One of the best original takes of a comic character in cinema.

      There is lots to love in that movie, including Jennifer Connelly as Betty Ross!

    I really want DC to do something very similar to these. ~500 pages, with ~20 issues at an afforable price

      They are starting something with the Compendiums which are a bit bigger in page count. Not sure if it will be all encompassing like Epics though. They haven’t really made any sort of statement about it.

    Desperately hoping that the recent Hasbro-property related Omni reprints (Rom; Micronauts) make it into EPIC format before too long...

    Kurtis, I know Omar does the omnibus mapping shows on his channel(he hasn’t done one in ages!), but, would you be up for Epic Collection mappings on your channel? I think that would be interesting! I really enjoyed this show! I was so tired after work and I couldn’t watch live.

    Thanks! This was a fantastic stream. Loved all the insight from Mike and Mark -- I hope you can do more streams with them in the future. Would love more stories about the making of the Epic line.

      I’d love to hear Mark talk about the initial Mapping of the material! To come out printing a Vol 17 of whatever, especially with the intention to have the finished volumes be as thorough and complete as possible, must have taken some serious effort… The Epic Line is a legitimate feat.

    Great video, Kurtis. I've only been collecting epics for a little over a year now but I'm up to 35. Love the format. Would like to see some Alpha Flight epics, especially post Byrne.

    My first Epic was Spider-Man 21 Sinister Six. I avoided collecting, at first, because there was no discernible pattern. However, once I got started, I was hooked. Due to finances, though, I only collect Spidey and X-Men.

    Great interview with Mike! I loved hearing his attitude on collecting the old Legends Star Wars comics and making the Epics as complete as possible. But with that said, it seems like all the main Star Wars Epic lines are in the process of wrapping up and there’s still a plethora of Dark Horse material that hasn’t been collected.
    Podracing Tales
    Droids Apple Jacks Comic Strip
    An Ewok Adventure
    Battle for Theed
    Bungo n' Rusti
    Clone Wars Adventures & Star Wars Adventures digests
    Ewoks: Shadows of Endor
    Dark Forces trilogy
    Web comics released on Star Wars Hyperspace
    Plus the 12-issue series, digests, web comics, and UK magazine shorts that tied into the 2008 animated Clone Wars series.
    Could there be additional Legends Epic lines announced in the future to collect the rest of this stuff, like Dark Horse's "Wild Space" Omnibuses of obscure and miscellaneous material, or is it destined to fall by the wayside?

    • @epicmarvelpodcast
      @epicmarvelpodcast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the Star Wars comics license is split in two parts. Marvel published all the Expanded Universe stuff and Disney has licensed out the all-ages Star Wars material to other companies like IDW. Anything related to the Clone award TV series (both of them) or labeled “Adventures” is actually off limits for Marvel (the Star Comics titles are considered part of the original Marvel Years despite being all ages).
      The license also doesn’t allow for promotional comics for other companies’ properties. So stuff like Apple Jacks and Battle for Theed can’t be included.

    • @frankjones5886
      @frankjones5886 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fascinating! I had no idea the licensing rights were so complex. Sad to hear that Marvel won’t be able to reprint so many Legends comics, but maybe Dark Horse can put out their own collections for some of them.
      Do you know why Podracing Tales wasn’t in the Rise of the Sith Epics? As far as I know it was just a regular web comic; Dark Horse put it in their first Wild Space Omnibus.

    I started with the first Ditko Spider-Man too. Then the first Thor, second Hulk, second Iron Man etc.
    Hope they keep the reprints coming as some of the eBay prices are extortionate.

    Hi Kurtis
    I am interested in starting my Star Wars Epic Collection. Looking into this I am a bit confused as to what is out there. Would you have a list of all Star Wars Epics that have been released? I know some may be out of print but at least i can hunt for them or wait for reprints - any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks and take care

  • @artwithmichael5547

    I think another reason to mix the dates was because they get to publish titles that have never been reprinted.

  • @guillermomaldonado6277

    I think the only thing missing from this TPBs are the intros of the Masterworks; otherwise best way of collecting backissues, IMHO. Happy 10th! 🍺🍺

    • @epicmarvelpodcast
      @epicmarvelpodcast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. They never include those. I wonder if they want to keep them for exclusive Masterworks content. Do they appear in omnis?

    • @guillermomaldonado6277
      @guillermomaldonado6277 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@epicmarvelpodcast I'd say they do, but I haven't really collected any omni; I have some spanish versions, the "Omnigold", which includes, from what I know, the same content as the USA omnis, and these includes the intros. I'm sure Omar must be able to shed some more light in this matter.

    • @RWB7210
      @RWB7210 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@epicmarvelpodcast Yeah, the Masterworks introductions are often included in the omnibus editions. I can't say for sure that they're ALWAYS included, but they very often are.

    I bought my first epic about 2 years ago (Namor vol. 1) which was actually also my first comic, besides stuff like Donald Duck I used to read as a kid. I was instantly hooked by the format and I still love the epic collection! Very glad they added a modern line as well!

    And about the invaders issues and the all winners squad issues that include those characters just include them where they’re in appropriate which means I do know a little extra work to make sure the issues that you print from the golden age lineup with the marvel continuity, which means they would have to spend time through those stories

  • @jtgamer-nintendo-xbox
    @jtgamer-nintendo-xbox 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I mean, we could get golden age Captain America later on just the issues that you need to fill-in from his origins all the way to the moment that we see him in the avengers we don’t need the fake Captain Americas

    And once they run out of heroes, there’s the monsters there’s the romance there’s that nurse lady story there’s Millie there’s more that they could print once they run out of a heroes in the classic era with those you would just start with number one because no one has read those characters besides if they printed the romance stories, I bet you a bunch of young ladies would buy those so you have a bunch of young women who like romance you have some marvel romance for them people who like monsters you have the monster stories and people who like westerns in this modern age, you have the westerns then there’s people like us who will collect anything from marvel
