- Unboxed the AMEX Platinum Charge Card earlier last year! Decided to do up an ASMR video for the fun of it. Will be doing a Vlog on the perks of owning such a card in Singapore soon!

mine in the US came in an all-paper case, and it looks like it had been run over twice by the delivery truck :)
Probably because the Annual Fee is much lower in the US! It's S$1,728 for our Annual Fee in Singapore which equates to around USD $1.3k per year 😅

That’s is so true, i have a Amex platinum and even though the credit limit is only £50’000 on the card, most shops in uk don’t even accept it

It's not worth using this card in shops anyway. Only 1x points. This card is used for booking on the Amex portal (flights, hotels, restaurants) for 5× points and for lounge access at airports.
I’m gonna watch this every single day until I’m able to be approved. Thank you for the motivation. I’m currently sitting at a 714 at Experian but I have limited credit history with only 11 months of credit history. Wish me luck. 👍🏾

The German version isn’t as fancy, but was satisfying too.
The package was smaller, but no paper, just a smooth material made out of some kind of fluffy material. The Amex logo of the card is visible through a hole in the package.
The partner card on the other hand just came in an envelope. 😅

If you don’t travel a lot this card is not for you. I got it just for the 150k welcome bonus. ($1500) value it now just sits in my safe until I’m able to cancel it.
I have to wait 1 yr to cancel or I will get charged back the $1500.
The best Amex card is the gold card.

I’m thinking to upgrade my gold even if I think the gold is better for my lifestyle but the 100k SUB it already pays off for the $695 annual fee. I can use that 100k to book international flight on business class from Hawaii to Korea or Japan. I’ve talked to amex and they said I could downgrade again to gold after one year using the platinum.

In my opinion the gold is more than enough. I feel as if the platinum and black are just status symbols.
Correct but also buying power and service . I can charge a $20,000 purchase (not like I make one haha). it’s nice to know I can. You may wonder why wouldn’t just pay debt or a check for that expensive luxury item. Answer is points and buying protection. Never use debt. when buying that Rolex for example and finding out it’s fake haha you just call Amex concierge and they take care of the rest.
im literally lmao after receiving my credit card that came in themail today with a $300 spending limit hahaha. Just a simple envelope that i tore open and was surprised the mailman didn't put it in the wrong box >
Don't worry you'll move up soon enough i remember my 200 CL. I had to rebuild, sitting at 6.3k rn on a citi double cash and got other cards equalling 14k all together. Not bad for being bad credit 2 years ago. Just be responsible please. Cut them up if you can't afford them.

Do you not live in the US? The US version of the Platinum Card doesn't say platinum on it anymore and AMEX doesn't have the wood in the box anymore. I wish they still did both things.
I’ve called American Express and asked about this and all they said was they discontinued this version of the card.. Apparently it’s the old version, The OG..

Looks like he's from Singapore. I can confirm the US version does not look like this and does not come packaged this way. The plat card in the US isn't that big of a deal and is packaged to reflect that because everyone and their aunt has one but outside the US it's seen as an extreme luxury item for some reason.

You know the reason why. Amex was literally marketing the Plat in the exact same way in the US until _very_ recently. Stop pretending to be from a different planet.
Obviously, as more people have been able to afford it they've toned their marketing down a little.
Same thing will probably happen in Singapore in a few years as incomes continue to rise and more cards enter the market.

What I said is the objective truth and if that makes you feel some type of way then that's your prerogative. The fact of the matter is this card is incredibly easy to get. The only people putting this card on a pedestal really don't know any better. It's a great card but it's no more special than any other card marketed towards travel. In fact of the major travel cards, the Amex plat is the easiest one to get. You can look up the application rate yourself published by Amex when they boasted how many plat cards were issued in the past 2 years.

Likely a cost saving reason due to the quantity of people who get it here. Nonetheless, a credit card with a $695 annual fee warrants a quality presentation, as seen in the video. The fact that some countries get a good presentation while others get a white envelope is low quality

Love this card for travel but it’s almost useless outside the US. Almost nobody takes it in Europe except large hotels, airlines, and Uber.
Same here, rarely accepted in Singapore so it's really more for those who travel to the US a lot.
