I hope you reply 😅 I just started in this preamp world... haha, I have a 15 watts amplifier and I mostly play metal... which is the best preamp by mooer for this? Would a metal zone work as a "boost"? Sorry for the dumb questions haha I'd like to record at home and maybe some mini gigs in the future 😂
15 watts tube or solid state? The mooer preamps work best directly into a PA or flat response speaker with the speaker impulse on, or directly into a power amp. If your amplifier has an FX return, that is the spot for it. Doesnt matter which, they all do the same thing. It's more dependent on what amplifier you'd like to emulate. You could definitely use a metal zone as a boost, I think it would be overkill though. They sound much better going into the FX return as well. Hope that helps!
@@TaylorDanley OOOOOHH thank you so very much !!!! And my amp is solid state I think 🤔 it doesn't have anything like FX return haha because it's very basic:(
@@johanneseckestrom6566 gotcha. It's going to sound weird most likely if you try and use a preamp pedal in front of your amps preamp... I have a video somewhere on my channel demonstrating the difference.
They say plug it into Return In in the fix loop… I did. The Amp bypasses the volume control and starts at full volume… the pedals volume has memory…if you are switching between clean and drive…volume can go from 0 to 100 in 1 microsecond.. potential DEAFNESS alert! Watch out…no one talks of this.
What if you wanted to send it tbrough the front of an old marshall head that has no return loop?in other words, what If i wanted to have it in a pedal chain going into the front of amp seeing as I use my marshall with the preamp set low for clean so that its a platform for pedals???
I don't know specifically, because I don't have experience with your amp. But in my experience using a preamp into another preamp can give you some weird results. Usually sounding very mid wonky, and like it's in a hallway or something. Can it be dialed in to a good sound? Probably. But I think the desired application is into an fx return, or dedicated power amp. Good luck!
do you find you have to boost the volume like crazy on your distortion pedal more than normal into the cali? or do you think i got a bad cali? I ordered one used. Usually my ds 1 x distortion is at 50 percent now it's at 90 percent to be just as loud as clean guitar within the cali. On my normal amp the boss ds 1 x distortion is always at 50% to be at the clean channel volume
I've never played with that pedal, but I know from the ge200 that some of the IRs aren't that great. Both the brown sound and cali mk3 sound killer in my opinion though!
Thanks for taking the time to a do a video on this pedal! Definitely going to pick one up soon
I bought one and it sounded super flubby and I hate that flub sound so I put a tube screamer in front and I love it now. Nice and tight now.
I think all Mesas sound kind of flubby lol. So they did a good job!
Just started using this pedal and found your old video! Nice work buddy. You look so young hahs
Just picked up the cali mk3...it is pretty awesome..i own 2 mark III blue stripe heads...i love anything mark series..this is an awesome piece
Great video. What power amp did you use?
Good question, it was a long time ago and I don't remember. Probably my Marshall 100/100 or, more likely, my ISP Stealth
@@TaylorDanley thanks!

Can you use headphones directly out with an adapter jack?

This was a really nice review bro :) What was the IR you used for the 'live' mix?
Thanks! The only IR I used for this video was the one that is built into the pedal.
@@TaylorDanley no way this sounds so good without any post processing. I own the 009 preamp and i cant dial anything nice with the built in cab :/

008 vs 017 Wich one have more gane ?
What power supply do you use ? 1spot ?
Yes! I used a 1 spot for these.
classic SOAD sound
I have a blackstar id core 10...should I get one if these? I mean will it sound good?
No idea, I have never used that amp!
Should do demos in standard & drop D only. Cool video still.
I dont have guitars in those tunings! 🤔 excuse to buy new guitar??
