    They were just soldiers. Doing what they were ordered to do. They did not have a choice

    However you should respect to Germans. So many past soviet nations destroyed soviet memorials but Germany didnt . So many Soviet soldiers killed innocent civilians in Germany.

    Very impressive video. I love the choice of music for the beginning of the video; it's serious and dramatic and prepares the viewer for what's coming. I didn't know about this "German" cemetery and I don't think many people do. I wish I could understand Russian writing and language so I could read what it says on the tombstones, and also understand what Elena is saying. Thanks for sharing this marvelous, educational video.

    In the civilized world fallen soldiers are given honorable burial, even enemy soldiers. We assume that Russian wants to be part of that world.

    I still plan to visit Moscow, St Petersburg and Volgograd.
    Didnt know about the Cemetery but will have to make a trip there when I visit and pay my respect to the brave soldiers that lay down their lives defending their Motherland against a ruthless uncompromising invader.
    My Paternal Grandmother's family migrated from the Volga region to Portugal in the 1880s.
    23 August happens to be my Birthday.

    • @HospitableRussia

      @@HospitableRussia Surely you can't mean that all Germans were fascists, because by that standard all Soviet people were communists, which is just as bad if not more so.

      @@HospitableRussia Well, I remember when the total was 20 million was the number stated back in the 1960s' and 1970s' then by the 1990s' that number was 25 million. Today the number of victims of Nazi Germany and its Fascist allies is 30 million. The exact I know not but what I do know that the people of the USSR suffered greatly during WW2. The sacrifice and courage of the Soviet peoples greatly help bring about victory against Nazi Germany ! German paid high price for its aggression and had the pleasure of being divided for 45 years. USSR became powerful Super Power at the end of WW2 and with justification Soviet Red Army had the honor of capturing Berlin. Only a fool takes on tThe Bear.

    • @JoeLukes
      @JoeLukes 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@craiglarge5925 I agree unequivocally that the people of the USSR suffered greatly during WW2. However the question of who shares responsibility for that is another matter. How many of these (whatever the true total is) died as a result of Stalin’s policies? For example, the USSR’s actions leading up to the invasion, the Red Army’s scorched earth policy of 1941, the USSR’s refusal to adopt the Convention on the treatment of POWs, or the treatment of repatriated POWs and others as traitors after the war.
