@RiddleAndRule Well I'm not exactly sure what the cause of this is, but I do have one thing that's been going on lately. We are playing a campaign with four party members, and there is one of us who is a bard. The bard subclass they have is combat focused, however they always do everything in their power to avoid a fight. We ended up in a fae trap, and our druid pulled a nice nature check that informed us that there was fairies here and they wanted to eat us. The portal back was locked until we kill all the fairies. Our bard did one attack and then tried to convince them to let us go a couple times, which failed of course because combat and disadvantage on persuasion checks during. Halfway through the fight, they had to leave for a bit and didn't make it back by the end of the session. During their absence we finished the fight, found a cockatrice egg, and got to our first major boss fight. This was by far the best combat scenario we've experienced the entire campaign so far, and it kinda got awkward when everybody realized that the bard being unconscious was contributing more by not trying to hire the bad guy to work in a restaurant. I'm not sure where the issue is here, I've tried going to Reddit and they just tell me to kill his character or kick him out or something but I'm convinced there's a better solution. He's also nearly impossible to have a serious conversation with, so really I just want to find a solution to this that doesn't result in him leaving
