Just ordered one for my daughter, who is turning 16 in September. Why pay $15k for a used vehicle with 30k miles when you can buy this and get 60k mile / 5 year bumper to bumper and 100k / 10 year powertrain warranties too? No-brainer.

Hey, this is the exact Rio I bought about a month ago! 2023 Rio S Hatchback Silver with Technology package. Driven about 600 miles so far, really like it! Smooth ride, nice features, push button start, alloy wheels, LED headlights, etc. Great gas mileage too, my freeway mileage for shorter city trips is averaging 45-50mpg! Haven't taken a longer road trip yet, but I bet the gas mileage would be well over 50mpg. Pretty good for an all gas vehicle. I recommend the Rio!

I purchased on November last year a 2023 Rio S sedan 4 doors with the technology package and I am very delighted and amazed of the performance from this small sedan. The gas mileage is better than the one rated by Kia.Mine now with 1800 miles is making 37 to 38 mpg in the city at 45 mph my normal speed and between 42 and 45 mpg at 70 to 75 mph which is my normal cruise speed.Aceleration from 0 to 60 mph was read with my watch at just 8 seconds, pretty fast for a CVT transmission.

Why are economical and simple vehicles considered "entry level"? Some of us don't need a car with all the extra tech and BS and just want something that runs and is reliable. Americans have a problem with feeling like they need all this extra crap that doesn't really make a difference when you're actually out there driving. I own a Kia Rio 2021 hatchback and love the features and hauling capacity. I don't need push button and auto-everything..manual controls are best and easier to fix!

    • @MattTheCarguy

I'm thinking of buying this car soon (except sedan) as a college student having to commtue 60 miles one way possibly 5 days per week starting in September. Seems like an excellent car for the money! The technology package seems like it's going to make me not really miss much from more expensive options. It also looks fun ENOUGH to drive for a few years during school. I think it's between either this or an Elantra for me.
One question though: How loud is the inside of the car while driving and how is the speaker system?

Thanks for watching. Definitely great starter car that won't break the budget. As far as how noisy is it, I would say it is average. I did not hear any excessive road, tire or wind noises. As far as the speakers I only listened to them for a very short time and not very loud so to me it sounded ok.

Thats something to consider considering parts in future for Rio. I'd drive both & see which you feel better in. What what what? I still drive my old 2012 Rio with the GDI 138 HP - 123 Torque 6 speed auto and it never failed, doesn't need 5 oil changes a year and is not clogged with soot. 138 HP makes all the difference too. It pulls and pushes alright. Merging in city traffic or on the highway, no problem. Just press the pedal. I'm not joking. The best trouble free car I ever had. Given it has only 60,000 miles with two brakes jobs, one new battery and one UVO radio changed, I say it's very reliable. But when they changed the motor to a 121 HP and CVT, I knew this would be my last Rio.

@@racineurr.8924 I fell in love with 1.6 gdi-manual combo! Smooth and silky and powerful feel...still as fine 9 years later...reminds me of honda's engines in the 90's, very cool engine for what it is, cheap basic reliable engine...

A pity about Kia discontinuing the Rio for 2014. That was a shocker when I read about the company's decision to do so. 😥 ♐

Its sad that another sub compact vehicle is dropping off. It will most likely be replaced by K3 which would be more expensive and as far as i know only available as sedan.

Agreed!!! I still think Kia made a mistake in canceling it, but so be it. Sad, as you said! Thanks for replying. ♐

These entry vehicles are great first vehicles, but it's just the price that's not great. Post COVID has ruined these prices, and so many people have accepted this reality. Not me lol, car prices are on a downward trend, and just you wait till Trump is in office. I'm a college student and it's near impossible for me to afford anything making min wage, I'm just lucky to have parents that still support me.

Car prices went up quite a bit. My first job at car dealership was in 1998. Base Civic was $9997. It takes a lit more than who is at the helm for prices to drop. Cost of materials, transport, taxes, tarifs, wages are among many other factors. If they drop it will not be by much. Of course I am talking about MSRP not the markups

After all the horrible things I have seen on the news about Hyundai's and Kia's, and the unbelievable troubles my father-in-law and brother-in-law had with their new 2018 Hyundai's I wouldn't try to steal one if I was a car thief.

I know plenty of people who own Hyundai and Kias and are happy including my sister on law and my mother in law both own Tucsons. One has well over 150k and still runs strong

You'd think that Kia would recognize it and manufacture more of them. Probably not as high profit margins though.
