Finally a semi-proper cockpit view. In the middle would be even better.

why do you want a cockpit view? I'd rather just have the dash cam, I hate this view

@@griff_the_boxer so you can see the driver's inputs as well as the road in front of them simultaneously. It gives the greatest sense of immersion and skill appreciation. People like watching other humans do sports. Why do you think Formula 1, the most watched racing series in the world does it this way? With the driver also visible.

Do these cars auto downshift? Been trying to figure out how he downshifts for a while.. I see him up shifting with the paddle but don't see how he downshifts.

I miss paddle shifters & unfortunately, I doubt this shifting method would re-return because keeping overall costs as low as possible is crucial nowadays, unlike in the early or mid-2010s.

i dont understand why they drift the car? its wasting time

    • @apple_with_a_human_butt

you've never driven on a dirt road or snow have you?
you have to overturn the car to each corner and apply gas to keep the car in the corner. otherwise in those speed the car would just slip off the road, because the surface of the road is loose.
it's a whole different dynamic when driving on a loose surface, versus tarmac or asphalt. drivers DO NOT do this for style, but to keep the car on the road at those speeds.
the car slides by itself in the corners because of laws of physics. so the driver counters this by overturning and applying gas.
these are professional world class drivers. they know what they're doing and they're not doing this because it looks cool. and certainly not because 'it's wasting time'...
on the other hand, they don't 'drift' in tarmac rallies, because it's not always needed, as the surface is not loose and has high grip.

First gen of wrc car has paddles
Second gen after 2015 also has
      Third (last) always has
      And it was legal
Even some cars in lower classes has (ds3 r3, 124 rgt etc)
