I'm not too surprised that Tricky, Peter Cetera or a member of New Kids On The Block or Massive Attack might know or even like Bauhaus because when I saw them, I WAS surprised at the variations of humans at their gig. The most varied I've ever seen at a gig (even more than at festivals I've gone to!) - A massive range of ages, races, styles and subcultures all in one room. I think I expected A LOT of Goths but it wasn't that at all. Very, very cool! 🙂
Welcome aboard! THanks Jeb- David was a great interview guest for sure! There are actually FOUR total videos with him on this channel: Two humor and 2 interview ones.
When I watched the Hunger for the first time, I thought Murphy was performing alone and then noticed a brief shot of the edge of a guitar. It is incredible to hear he still has the same bass guitar. Imagine Bowie and David J hung around a jukebox. They always dress well with suits and make the cool brothers. David, I still don’t let my hope up and wait for your second book that features your stories on Jazz Butcher and Love & Rockets. I suspect you intentionally left out.
Glad you enjoyed it! In retrospect, I really wish I had asked David what Bowie was wearing when this happened. Was he in costume? I assume they were working on the club scene with the band at the beginning. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
@@rocdocs that introduction to the movie. I remember hearing a quote from Bowie, and I paraphrase, talking about how the first 12 minutes of the movie really popped and had a strong rhythm. He seem particularly pleased with that first introduction in the beginning. I fantasize that when he had that conversation with the Bauhaus David, in front of the jukebox, I fantasize he was wearing a sharp suit. And maybe those round mirrored glasses.
@Dennis Thanks, that was great! I really enjoyed the animation, as it shows that life is not all lime twigs and treachery. Again, people. Buy David's memoir, *Who Killed MR. Moonlight: BAUHAUS, Black Majik and Benediction* You won't regret it! 🧛♂
@@rocdocs Sorry for the slow reply. When I purchased, Who Killed MR. Moonlight: BAUHAUS, Black Majik and Benediction. It took me a few months to read, as I would read a dozen or so pages, then I would put the book down for a few days-- as I would envision each situation. That and I never wanted it (the book) to end! But wow! was that a tell-all memoir!

Love this interview! That story of David Bowie dancing on David J ..... oo-la-la 🔥😂
Thanks odette. In retrospect I wish id asked what bowie was wearing- was he in John’s club attire?
@@rocdocsI'd love to know that too! 😅 I'm sure it was something scandalous 🔥

The one thing I wish I had asked- “what was bowie wearing?” Did he have his “john at nightclub” gear on? Thanks for watching and commenting John!
@@rocdocs He wore dark blue sharkskin suit. David J mentioned in his book. It must have been stunning to see two of them together.
Brilliant! Such a great interview!
This is an awesome channel, Oh man Ive loved Bauhaus, Love and Rockets for SOOO MANY years now, and that Bowie story, mayde my morning.
DLS your comment means the world to me- in a sea of snarky complaints from old punks it was a refreshing boost! :)
Thank you for your work. The Hunger is one of my favorite movies. I very much appreciate this interview.

The Hunger was the best opening scene ever 🖤
@@rocdocs He wears the dark shark skin suit as seen in the opening of the film. David J mentioned how he looks in the book.
Thanks it is a great inside look. Such a great interview. Happy…
Thanks 🙏
very enjoyable ty
Thanks! 🙏
The Hunger: a movie so Goth that David Bowie is a vampire, and Bauhaus is the opening band!!!
Haha right
How have I only found your channel now??
Excellent interview.
Thank you kindly! Feel free to spread the word, its tough out here for a ball. From one Dennis to another, thank you.
I can see Tricky as a big Bauhaus fan.
I was surprised when he first said it- but you’re right. It makes perfect sense.
The secret is out 7:24
@Dennis Thanks, that was great!

Again, people. Buy David's memoir, *Who Killed MR. Moonlight: BAUHAUS, Black Majik and Benediction* You won't regret it! 🧛♂
Thank you ivory tower! And agreed- it’s a really great read. You gotta get it

David know his Thelema... Surprised he didn't make the connection between Bowie doing the silence sign and the icon of Horus.
Goo Goo gajoob! Man!
Well...I also hear Boys Keep Swingin.
Interesting I’ll try to remember to mention that to David next time I talk to him
Love the interview but I have to say there is nothing similar between the bauhaus and trojan records logos other then they're both circles.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree it’s a stretch but they are both abstract portraits in profile. But you’re right of course! -dennis
😻😻😻😻
David Bowie 🤫
Hahaha
