Thanks for this video. I usually stream mobile games so it’s extremely simple, but I’ve wanted to start streaming pc games from my laptop. The learning curve just seems so steep. It’s nice to know there’s a way I can use my two gaming laptops to get going.
I’ve been using NDI myself for a couple years now. Works well for me. A difference in my setup from what you’re showing is that I don’t run OBS on the gaming PC. I use NDI to just capture the whole screen on the gaming PC and my streaming PC picks it up.
That’s awesome and probably uses less cpu.

@@xxmiaozxx6239, NDI Tools includes NDI Screen Capture. With it running, an NDI feed is created for each monitor.
@@TimothyFish Does NDI have ability to record video to local an network drives, and if so in your opinion how does it compare to OBS and Nvidia Geforce Experience in terms of quality of recordings?
Do you loose any fps this way? Also are you capped at how many fps you can stream or play at?

didnt see ndi capture at first but if you reset obs it will show, Great and well put together video, for some that might be confused on what pc to start with its your gaming then streaming. Hope this helped anyone, other than that great and awesome video keep it up

I was not able to get this method to work. I doubled checked the steps and both PCs are showing only themselves as NDI sources. However, I was able to use NDI remote without the OBS plugin to display my screen across PCs. I then use OBS to capture the window of NDI remote. The window has a thick black outline which can be hidden by stretching the element in OBS. It works as a passthrough, but I don't know how it would be for gaming. I am going to keep playing with settings, but this works for my purposes.

I need to hear the audio real time from the gaming PC but hear also obs notification, music and discord from the streaming PC…do I need a kind of a physical mixer, or there is a settings? (I hope to have listen properly to your tutorial, because if you said it in the video, that would be cringe for me LOL) thanks in advance!!!

Just got my old PC back from where my dad passed away. I've been streaming on one pc and i did notice an fps hit because of the encoding. But we shall see how this goes. Thank you!!!

Good way but splitting the audio channels is really hard to do if you can do at all, You cant use the Twitch Vod track option , I like to hear my alerts and and listen to music and you cant doing this setup
I would like to know how it doesn't effect the game play at all. On the gaming rig it uses GPU just check the task manager and by that it does lower FPS on game. Depending on PC spec and game it can be a little effect, which sure most would not even notice. So probably not a problem. But let's say if I can play game at 144 fps avg vs 125 fps avg well then i'm sticking to my capture card on the streaming pc. So am I doing something wrong with trying to use NDI don't think so since it just makes sense that's how it works, that it will either use some CPU, GPU or both? Wish I could get it to only use CPU only since I feel I have a good enough processor that could handle this and game at same time with out lowering frames. But guessing no matter what, it will need to use some of your video card.
Hi Michael Great video ive been using the NDI setup now for nearly 2 years i already had 2 PCs so it was a no brainer and no extra Cost for capture card.

im confused, how does the stream pc detect the game pc? thru cable, bluetooth or the internet?
didn't work for me... the obs on the gaming pc does not show the NDI option at the tools menu... 😞

It's only allowing Simple when in the audio output settings. Will it be an issue or is there a workaround?
Turn off ndi and any virtual camera. Then change to advanced. Set your settings. Then turn it back on.

Great video! I am curious about Discord and having a mic that is not going through a DSLR. You said in your video that you would want everything else like the camera (etc) to be going through the streaming PC. How would one make it possible to hear the game audio and Discord if the mic is not on the same PC (without a GOXLR)?

I just built my 2nd system for a dual-setup. But I wasn’t sure what software I needed on the encoding pc? I’m gaming with a Radeon 7800XT and want to encode to a RTX 2070 I do have a capture card.

the NDI Obs pluggoing wont come out on my streaming pc, how come?
I was wondering why are you installing the NDI 5 tools? If you only install the ndi plugin, it'll still work.
I am using only OBS NDI plugin on both PC's and it works :) I actually do not know why he installed NDI 5
@@ACOnetwork Im not sure if he does the same, but i actually use the NDI Tools on my game pc, and obs with plugin on the stream pc, i noticed that when only using the tools my stream gets better quality, might be because its NDI 5
So basicly not using OBS on game pc anymore, it works great. 🤗

Michael ... NDI also has cellphone apps ! You can you an old cellphone as a camera with NDI but the app is not free called NDI HX Camera..
So I have installed NDI and it keeps telling me the plugin can't be loaded and idk how to update the plugin

go to your internet settings > click on the actual wifi or ethernet connection > if not change to Private. I did it on both PC's. I restarted obs and it showed it fam!

hey whats up man. i just upgraded to OBS 28.1.2 and no matter what i do, my NDI keeps Lagging and Freezing, Etc. i have the Same version of OBS on both PC's and also the NDI Runtime installed, etc. OBS WORKS! but not Properly! My PC Specs are more than enough also (Streaming PC = i7-12700K & Tuf 3060Ti || Gaming PC = i9-12900H & ROG 3060 [Laptop]), Both PC's Running to the Same Router with Ethernet on Both, High Speed DSL Internet (530 Down | 30 Up) PLEASE HELP!
I have one more question.. Are both rigs set up identical to one another? Or are there slight differences?
Streaming pc don’t have to be too powerful. Streaming is CPU dependant and not GPU as long as you have a decent cpu you’ll be fine

sorry didnt work for me guess going back to the card.. Unable to get the NDI or the OBS tool to load into OBS on Gaming PC. Worked fine on the streaming PC.
@Michael Feyrer Jr. thanks for the video but I have 2 questions. If you install NDI 5 and then OBS NDI plugin (that is older NDI version than NDI 5) don't OBS just use NDI from the OBS plugin it self? Second question is what do you gain by installing NDI 5, because I use only OBS NDI plugin on both PC's and it just works.
So, I have a question can we mirror the PC screen the gameplay one to an android tablet and livestream it using streamlabs or some other apps from the tablet. It would be great if the PC screen mirroring is done via HDMI instead of any mirroring software.

You shouldn't assume that someone would run nvidia on both machines of a 2 pc streaming setup. I'm working on building 2 machines for streaming. I'm running a 2070 xc super on the streaming pc which is built but I have yet to build my main gaming machine but will be using an AMD 6800xt......

Okay, I know how to get by doing this using a capture card, but I'd rather not. When I'm using NDI, I see whichever PC OBS is pulled up. My desktop sees itself and my laptop sees itself. They don't see each other. Did I miss something in here?

What would be the min PC requirements for a stream PC? Assuming I use the 2 PC setup. I currently have an RX570 AMD card for my gaming card (yeah, not super powerful). And an i7-920 CPU. When I try it all on 1 PC, my frames drop as soon as OBS loads, so this 2 PC setup looks very attractive.
You would be fine.. even a Chromebook would do this. It's simply screen capture done through OBS which is really good for resources. Your PC suffered while doing both at once because the card has to render the game graphics in 2 places.. this will improve your performance 10x

A capture card will be more stable and reliable than a network
