Amen Lecrae! Even though we don’t live “of the world”, but we still have to live “in the world”. Jesus Christ was the model of social consciousness in His day historically, truly a revolutionary, and He is our model as Christians. He lived in the world, but not of the world. I appreciate the insights bro. 👍🏾
Whoever's reading this, I pray that whatever your going through gets better & whatever your struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine in Jesus Name. Have an amazing day everyone Amen 🙏🏾 ✨
I love how he brings awareness to things but in such a respectful way so he get his point across without offending anybody in the process keep doing what your doing lecrae it’s worth it
The gospel of christ that is scared to offend isn't any gospel at all. Jesus literally said I came to bring a sword. He said they'll hate you for my name's sake.. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 If Christians with a ton of influence like Lecrae were sold out, no compromise, rather than a form of Godliness with no power, than Christianity would truly stand out and be the pillar God's church is intended to be! Gods church should be front runners in every category. The world should want to copy us. Instead we are weak, afraid to admit God is still a powerful miracle working God. Afraid we might offend the world we accept their behavior, conform and diminish our message and worse we emulate their behavior and actions so that people can't really tell we're different.
Ya know, not everything that Paul wrote was “praise and worship.” He was writing about not aggravating our kids, getting along with our gossip, sexual relationships between married couples, taking care of the poor, giving up your status in order to serve. The praise and worship was THERE, but he covered the whole life.
Yeah, 100%. I know some rappers sound like they are just reading a systematic theology textbook really fast and then they're critical of anyone that's not as "Biblical" as them. I think people lose sight of the fact that some people are ministering to the church and others are ministering to the lost. No need to throw stones. We're all working together fam.
True! I laughed at the "reading a systematic theology textbook" you mean like... lol yo yo check it John 3:16. This is what I mean when I see what Jesus done for me! This is not the fake Stone Cold Steve decree. You see how Satan deceives thee with blatant blasphemy!?
I feel this. I think there’s a lot of division on what is biblical and what’s not. Trying to find the right teachers that promote unconditional love without falling into a sin trap today is a pretty tough thing at least for me. Definitely would love to hear more artist speak on real subjects biblically to learn and become a better person/student of Christ overall.
Along this road I have figured out alot about myself that I always felt but now through this storm it began to surface.. Alot of things God had to awken me to and I know preparation sometimes hurts but I was built for this 💯 💪 I ain't perfect but I love God and i know he is for me so no weapon formed shall prosper..amen I could never quit because what would that show my kids??
Whether being labeled a “Christian Rapper”… I believe when we are connected with God, he will provide us with the correct sound. The right words. And the love, that he wants us to share with the world…
God bless you, Lecrae. Thank you for always being passionate and honest through your music. As artists, I feel you on what you said. In a way, one of my favorite rap musicians that sings and raps about social injustices more or less indirectly is Sevin. Anyways, may my MIGHTY LORD JESUS CHRIST always bless you my brother. 🥊🥊🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖✝️
Sho Baraka and Eshon Burgundy are the first names that come to mind that mix a conscious, in-depth, and serious message similar to Lupe, Mos Def, etc. but unashamedly Christian and centered on the teachings in The Bible. Lauryn Hill on Miseducation always gave off a christian rapper vibe juat as much as conscious vibe (even though some language or references to Islam culture is present), every song can be dissected to find meaning that is rooted in Scripture. About every rapper that's part of CHH first and foremost moves around a little bit, just because they use their gift to evangelize and each one has a gift slightly different, and artists in CHH seem to evolve and change aspects of their music more than secular rap, like how Real Talk had a lot of Crunk and Atlanta stuff and now NCIAW is really smooth sounding experimental trap.
Loved this message Lecrae! And I agree, we should stop boxing in Christian rappers and placing limits on what we are “allowed” to discuss especially through music. Time to be the change we wanna see
Thank you so much for this!! I've been wrestling with this for the past two years. I was restored to Christ in 2020 and before that was already making music that was more conscious in the genre of hip-hop/soul/funk. Then I started seeing all the bashing by Christians about other Christians choosing to make conscious/secular music saying that ohh they water down the gospel and they aren't preaching the gospel in their music and I'm like wait...does that mean I can only make gospel rap to be viewed as a Christian that makes music and it's been messing with me. I'm just now getting over this because I'm realizing people always going to have something to say or be upset about something in your walk. And clearly making conscious music is not a sin issue unless the music is promoting evil as good and good as evil so I'm over it at this point. This video just confirmation for me and timely so thank you so much for shedding light on this!
I made a song called I’m Enough that’s a conscious rap but I don’t consider myself a conscious rapper. I feel like this video is something that is going to change hip-hop forever.
Yo Lecrae you really hit the point here I think you need to further expand on this with some Christian rapper and Kendrick and Gambino that would be a real good discussion

Yes I definitely think believers with prayer should be open to discussing the issues of the day, in a respectful way. I love the way Lecrae puts things, because it is always respectful ❤️
this opened my eyes- whenever i make music i always think it HAS to be all about God. But now i know i can’t talk about (ex) respecting people, what’s happening in the world, etc. But my morals are derived from scripture so i can put those topics in a christian perspective

If CHRIST is the way the TRUTh & the life shouldn't we be the MOST CONSCIOUS & RELEVANT artists of the day. I often FEEL overlooked in the CHH space for being too conscious! SALUTE!!!
I mean seeing Kendrick and what kind of symbolism he had with the crown of thorns and then “bleeding” at the end of his concert really has me thinking that he’s mocking Jesus
My thoughts exactly not to mention most secular rappers shown satanism in what they do. Kendrick Lamar’s album “D**M” in the cover art his head is placed perfectly in the letter M to where it looks like devil horns… but people will still listen to their music of choice even tho Psalms 101:3, “I will set no wicked thing before my eyes..” we’re brought at a price and if it wouldn’t be played in heaven or doesn’t glorify God we shouldn’t be doing or listening to it on earth. Simple
I think Kendrick is very open about his world view and his conflicting beliefs. I don’t think his intentions were bad persay. I think he was look at Jesus through the eyes of a black person suffering from generation colonial trauma in modern day society especially with going to Ghana to connect with his motherland roots. Studying black Israelite religion how they believe Jesus is black. Along with expressing his admiration of 2pac AGAIN if you look 2pac last interviews by VIBE he says he believes in BLACK JESUS and he also stated that he felt he was experiencing crucifixion as Jesus did from a symbolic standpoint based off of what he was experiencing in the past few years of his life with all the bad press

A lot of the same concepts, punchlines, and themes are heard over and over again from song to song, artist to artist.
I agree cause, this kind of music is at times referred to as unsuitable for Christians cause of the way it sounds, but I definitely totally agree that there's a better way to start looking at this type of music from a different angle in ways that they can carry a crucial message to the world. And what the world needs to hear, not what it wants to hear.
Never let your base of fans put you in a box. You’re a dynamic talent and your spirit will always shine through no matter what music you put out there. God bless you.
Good take Lecrae. God calls us to be a light of the world and live for Him and be a difference maker. Like you said, we have the answers in the Bible so we should use it. If the problem goes unnoticed or unaddressed, how is it supposed to be solved?
Well said. God is so awesome that he can have all these Spirit-filled individuals to play their part and bringing his truth to the community. Shout out to all those rappers that are playing their part. God bless you.
I agree but I often wonder if rap in general is so corrupt nowadays and really from the beginning that the repetitive feel good fast beats aren't also corrupt and filled with demonic forces. Music was Lucifers domain. Should music made for the Lord be more worship like? You can still rhyme all you want which is poetry but where should the line be drawn?

My 2nd comment on this. PLEASE DO AN EXPANDED TALK OR EXPANDED CONVERSATION ON THIS! I really feel a lot of Christians don't want to make conscious music because they feel locked up and don't want to feel judged by the Church and also maybe wrestle with the fear getting too influenced by the world and they judge themselves in a place where they don't need to...As long as they are LIVING out the Christian lifestyle by the scriptures it should be all good! It's a double-edged sword I think. Mental barriers.
I transitioned from secular music to Christian rap music but, I had someone to tell me I was a conscious rapper/artist. I did get caught up in being over religious in music, some would say, but I was afraid to listen to them but now I'm transitioning again to be more open and transparent. I still believe in God, I still can deliver the word, scripture, in my music while talking about life from my eyes. Those who know the word or a little of the word will recognize a scripture in my verses. It's just how I deliver it. God said in colossians 3:16 to " teach one another through songs, hymns, and psalms singing with grace in our hearts". The Bible gives many examples of others life and things they went through, why can't we tell our story, tell the things we see WITHOUT excluding our father and LORD and savior JESUS Christ? I've heard many rappers, even secular artist slide certain things in their Verses that was in the bible. I want to sing with grace in my heart and with music that God accepts and that's universal at the same time not compromising with the worldly ways. I may make a song now full religious for the words sake and some music that's more relatable for others but I will not go back to cussing in my songs throne thing for sure
Lupe is on that list as well..this topic reminds me of devils work by Joyner Lucas and how Bizzle gave him a better perspective Idk I love this topic because yes I feel as Christians why are we always labeled or made our to seem that we only talk or care about God and how Jesus saved me, when that's great of course but why can't we talk about other topics in the world as Christians. Lecrae when you did that in your music you got bashed called a sell out...but if a preacher does it its amen thanks Pastor. Idk love this topic tha k you for everything you do throughout your music!! 🙏🏾💪🏾💙🔥💯
😅😅😅 I like this, man! Crae at it again...I'm laughing at the part of God is good, I love the Lord and killing demons. You got a point brother but I believe each one has a choice to pick which side of the spectrum they wanna represent or that God has entrusted them with. Some are pastors who happen to rap so you can't really take that away from them.
YUP! Shout out to all the real rappers that aren't afraid to get cancelled by the world! The ones who are actually saying something in their music!!
Well that ain’t lecrae. Boy done went full on woke.
