As a pro angler boat official I agree 100% with Randy on these 3. I also see Yamamoto 5 inch senko ( honestly nearly 100% use it and take the wacky rig out of box after take off), Yamamoto zako as chatter bait trailer, small Keitech swim bait, damiki armor shad minnow, and a robo worm (drop shot). In the small mouth lakes you add the small Berkeley flat worm.
@@jamesjellissen7371 Get Berkley to make a decent skirted grub then. They made a powerbait hula grub for about 3 seconds back about 25 years ago. It lasted 3 seconds because it sucked. The tails didn’t move and there wasn’t much of a skirt. Yamamoto makes the best skirted grub by a mile and those little things get bit a ton. LM and spots love them and there’s a good case it’s probably the best smallmouth lure ever made.
I definitely agree with what you said about the jerkbait catching more fish. I've thrown countless others alongside the Megabass and it will always catch more fish. The hardest part is having the patience to pause long enough when the water is cold.
Is it worth the $ to buy one? Can you catch anything besides bass on it? I don't think I can spend that much coin on a lure that only works on one species of fish.

It came across my channel randomly because I watch alot of fishing videos. I’ve actually never had much luck on those chatterbait style jigs. The plastic worm is the way to go here where I’m at for the style of fishing.
I always have a vision 110 and jackhammer ready to go. I don't like the magdraft though. I don't like the treble on the bottom. It seems to end up in gills way too often.

Man that action is so dang good but is it just me or are the hooks actually awful?? They’re so thin even a decent bass can bend them out. But when I replace them it seems to impair the action.
@@TheFishingMommyRapala hooks are awful in general. They're not sharp, and they do bend easily. But I haven't seen the action being impeded when I swap out the hooks.
@@TheFishingMommytry #8 size hook if you want a heavier wire. Unless you are using the #5 shad rap then it comes with #8 hooks on it and that size will mess with the action of it. That’s why I use the #9 shad rapid my favorite one. The new ones come with VMC’s on em and I have no problem with them.

The problem with Megabass is cost. Their baits are not so much better than other comparable jerk baits and swim baits to justify the average fisherman spending $25 for a jerkbait. I will put the 6th Sense Provoke jerkbait against the 110 any day. I will put the 6th Sense Crush Flat 75 against Megabass flat side lure all day long and twice on Sunday. I’m not saying Megabass lures don’t catch fish. I’m saying they are simply way overpriced and equally as good and in some cases, better lures are on the market at 1/2 the cost with just as good quantity. I would love to buy a Megabass fishing rod, but they are just too expensive and there are other brands that are as good or better on the market for alot less money. Honestly, Megabass doesn’t seem to care about the average fisherman cost wise, and that’s a shame.
Agreed. I think I’ve only bought one Megabass lure in my life and it was a Dark Sleeper for a not-outrageous $6.99 that I have yet to try. I think Megabass has realized that if the average Joe angler who makes $40,000 a year can somehow manage to buy himself a $50,000 bass boat and a blinged-out $70,000 pick up truck truck to tow it, the guy is somehow going to be a sucker for any marketing that tells him that the $18-$50 Megabass lures will catch him a whole lot more fish than the $3 to $10 lures. And then he believes deep in his heart that he will be lusted after by supermodels, SEC cheerleaders, and “real“ he-men in “tactical” gear, as well as admired by good hunting hounds.

Don't use it. The treble hook on the bottom is horrible design, especially for pike and musky. Their heads are so big, and a lot of times, that treble hook just ends up buried in their gills.
One thing thats not talked about enough and would 100% be another one is wood cranks. Especially cold water tournament, especially those flat sided cranks come into play. I think the Frittside is good but it will never even come close to a flat side wooden bait imo. Maybe younger anglers don’t have them but I know for sure the older guys all have them. I’m only 26 saying this but had the luxury of growing up around my Dad and a great lure maker who taught me a couple years to do it before he passed away recently. Not knocking plastic lures but nothing will compare to a balsa crank for me personally.
I am going to agree with your rants….just looked at Pro’s fishing bedding bass at Toledo Bend! Eliminate bed fishing first…then get rid of FFS during official tourney days…not practice! If both can’t be done! No more permits for any tourneys! Eliminate the sport!

Lake Fork observation: anglers were catching fish “sight fishing beds” which makes it sound like scoping is not involved. Actually entailed both sight fishing & scoping them. So likely you’re gonna hear proponents of livescope say “almost all fish were caught sight fishing without livescope” When actually they scoped & counted first, then caught sight fishing afterwards. Would’ve been harder to tell that there’s 6 or 8 fish on a bank without it. They don’t count it as live scoping if it’s only used to find them, but not to get the bite 😂 the denial is insane.

Gone are the days when pros would have 90% be baitcasters on their deck and 10% maybe one spinning rod with forward facing sonar it’ll be reversed it’ll be 90% spinning rods and maybe a couple bait casters for shallow fishing. Forward facing sonar live scope is ruining professional bass fishing. I see sales of weenie worms and minnow baits with jig heads skyrocketing most other lure categories with a few exceptions are going to go down or just seasonal with FFS and virtual reality taking over bass fishing
