@@bencarlson3670 And so many of these channels are putting out 1hr videos semi-regularly now - I mean, I'm not complaining, but I also don't know how the hell I'm going to keep up😂
You and newbern stopped in front of my house in 19 on the way to atco at like 2am . I woke up thinking wth is that noise . By the time I realized y’all were leaving . I’m still mad I didn’t run out to say hi . Was awesome seeing all them hot rods running around the street .
A tip about solid state relays, they give off about 10% of the power they carry as heat. The greatest thing ever is a hybrid relay. The use the SS for switching and a mechanical relay to carry current. You avoid the spark on the contacts and heat of the SS.
As a sheet metal guy that has sprung more snips than I would count, I wholeheartedly approve. He's cutting sheet metal in situ, the bane of the HVAC industry. So long as there's no stainless steel within 200 ft or so, he is doing just fine.
Mike you really need to crimp ferrules on the end of all the wires going into those solid state relay blocks. They're cheap and prevent the screw blocks from damaging the bare strands of wire. If Holley wasn't dumb and would make their CAN protocol public or if you used a regular ECU I'd say to just get a Power Distribution Module and CAN switch panel. Only need 4 wires to the panel with up to 12 buttons and different colors for each button. And with a pdm you can set the "fuse" amperage for each circuit and set logic to them so certain things would be shut off or turned on with ECU conditions or sensor readings.
Since you've got the Wire Care hookup, consider using ferrules in your terminal blocks for stranded wire. Adds strain relief, less resistance and no chance of a strand going somewhere it shouldn't.
@@rickfazzini22 Tinning is worse than nothing at all. You're solidifying the connection but irregularly, which means more resistance than letting the strands shift and shape to the terminal when it's being tightened. Also, the solder will actually flow and change over time and the connection will weaken if you're not tightening your terminals.
Hard to believe it's been a week since this started! Glad to have met you & Tony at National Trail! This was my second Drag Week! It's like the automotive Twilight Zone!! AWESOME!!! 👍👍👍
I love the 55 with the Hemi and the manual Trans. What a great Drag and Drive race car. Two Lane Blacktop, but even better. Racing Blasphemi on a track has got to be a wonderful experience, but driving her on the street has got to be the Greatest feeling in the world. Mike Finnegan you are living the dream. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
There's a lot of work that went into drag week its self, but there was also a lot of work that went into editing this video just for us to watch. Excellent work Mike and Tony and nice to see you at Harrells just down the Rd from me on Wilkerson
I remember watching this at the time, followed the hole week, been a while since seeing the box truck to, i had forgotten all about it. Can't wait till the video of this year comes out, been keen to watch you race again.
28:05 a good tip is to bend the wire back and forth while tightening it in the terminal. This allows the round wire to flatten out and fill the cavity more evenly preventing a loose connection over time due to vibration. 🍻
I have those same hydraulic crimpers and when you find a dye that's close enough I usually put the fixed handle in the vise lightly so it doesn't want to rotate while you're crimping. Thanks for your videos as always! 🙏
Ah, the tin-snip shuffle. None of them ever fit just right, do they? Holy deja vu, man! Square Force One and all the rest! Thanks, Fin and Joe! Take a well-deserved rest, all y'all! ✌🏻❤️🙂🇨🇦
I’ve got a aux beam switch panel with solid state relays. Super nice and you may like it to. It’s ment for off-road so it’s all extremely robust. They have 6,8,12 button options and options for phone use
I wired high end control systems. Instead of putting stripped wires into a clamp terminal I first put a ferrule on the wire..More support for the wire and prevents stray strands bridging terminals.
Well done guys, I like the changes to the car from the lettering on the side to the new independent front end, wiring and I am sure other stuff wee didn't get to see. Again great work.
I don't want to even look at any of the comments I don't wanna know what happened yet, can't wait for the movie, been waiting for you's 2 reunite on a episode again hopefully, there will be more to come. Maybe even a roadkill special
I’ve been keenly watching you, Dave F and crew since the Roadkill Rotsun days. Love the vids, I’ve got to say that I preferred the “old gold” paint and Blashemi decals, much richer colour. Cheers from Western Australia.
That's sweet! I love wiring too. You should make a sticker of the wiring schematic and stick it to the bottom of the seat like OE fuse boxes do with their fuse/relay maps
I talked with Keith about this problem and there's a rough badass round shielded over head feed cable that I'm ordering. It's a cable that plugs in to your equipment and it like $30.. .This company is the best path to your switching dreams .I promise you!!
Glad to finally see the rest of 2019. I had forgotten that was the year Tony benched the transmission back in. Epic! Too bad the wheelie of doom took you out this year. But there is always next year.
Can I just point out that a GF5R is less than 150 lbs? Not really sure what the big deal is. Any guy who can lift a bit, should be able to bench, 225 lbs or more.
Love your channel. I'm more into experimental aviation, speaking of wiring there is a similar product on the market for your issues, the VPX pro uses software to provide circuit protection for a small aircraft, bypassing old school mechanical relays and circuit breakers. MSD seems to be going the same way with solid state circuit control.
When you were at the Loves you were next to my Shop in Providence forge Virginia. I thought it was absolutely crazy they brought y’all down that road which is rt 606 to rt 106. That road is tight big rigs have a hard time passing each other without smacking mirrors
You need a rear window with louvers or window with holes cut in it. Or break down and put some sliding windows in those drivers and passenger side doors like the 55 and Tulane blacktop
Great video! You guys are great together with Blasphemi!! Although, I’m beginning to wonder if the rebuilt 632 might not be the ticket these days? It seems just about every time you get her all tuned up a running good something always happens. See, I’m wondering if the Chevrolet sprits are still a little miffed at you for running a Hemi in a ‘55 BelAir….🤷♂️🤷♂️😱 Just a thought ….🤣😆
Love the shows, as wells as RK and HRG. I just bought a 47 ford, and I am having a T-5 installed behind the flatty. The car is in Vancouver BC Canada at Lee Grants Shop and I need to get it to the DFW area in Texas. You and F' burger want to road trip it ??? I'm 77 years old and had the first round of Covid-19, so age and lingering Long Covid prevents me from the long drive.
Sheet metal snips are good for 18 ga mild steel, aluminum as thick as you can grab, and will break immediately if you lay them down on a table next to stainless steel of any shape or size. Just for future reference. 😂
Wish i could get into doing events like this, but sadly my car isnt quick enough to be worthy...lol. id like to once i can get the car set up how i want, but that will take some time. Only events ive participated in recently was the modern street hemi shootout. Got third place at the cecil county raceway event (battle of the brands). Hoping this year turns out a little better with a major upgrade to the rear of my car, plus some lightweight items replacinf the factory's heavy ones. Love the content mike. Keep up the good work. Ill be living vicariously through your videos. Lol.
Your stick out on the terminals should be approximately the width of the wire. And he was right if you stack terminal lugs you out one down and one up and depending on the size not suppose to stack more than three on one post. This is per the 505 aircraft manual. Lol
A bonus episode with NEWBERN!!!!!!! Man I miss that guy on your show
Join the club 😊
I just watch his channel a lot of good stuff there !!

Great idea, I’d never considered this before.
Agreed and use the tool for them
I’ve always just tinned the ends of the wire before inserting in to the terminal block, but your idea sounds even better!
Sweet idea.
