Thank you for the positive review and video. You guys are amazing!
Keep making killer bags! Everything I've put my paws on by Greenroom136 has screamed quality. You do not disappoint!
I just ordered a custom rainmaker this morning. Can’t wait to get it. What a great price for a custom bag.
madaca you’re going to love. It’s such a great bag!
Just visited the Greenroom136 pop up store in KL. Super impressed by the design and quality of their stuff! Top materials and workmanship I simply couldn’t fault! The design of their products is amazing, and the value proposition is impossible to beat! I’ve been someone who usually goes for top quality stuff that tends to be Made In USA, but kudos to this small operation, which is putting out some amazing gear. Picked up a Metromonger and some additional knick knacks and am super excited to load it out and see how it goes. Really comfortable and perfect size for minimal urban EDC. The strap set up and the comfort from the strap and breathable padding are great. Enough organization, without going overboard. The guy who mans the WhatsApp on their website was also super helpful. I have a feeling I have a new addiction!
I am still rocking GR136 bags to this day. Got a new one coming soonish.
I am a real big fan of your reviews dude keep them coming!
ANG-D TV thanks man. The new product testing starts tomorrow.
Can't wait to see brotha!
Hey, that opening footage looks familiar. Looks like you had a good steady cameraman filming that b roll shot.
I only utilize the best talent! haha
Great review. Just ordered mine, looking forward to using it!
It's a great bag and a great company! You'll love it!
Making Malaysia proud! Kudos Greenroom!
Best Malaysian company ever!
Hey Jeff, I know this is an older video but could you tell me how big that Dell laptop is? I’m looking at customizing a rainmaker now, and I’ve got a 15.6 laptop that I’d like to fit comfortably. Cheers!
I’ll try to remember to measure it when I get home. I know it is a little over an inch thick from measuring in the past.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA please do! Thank you
@@Boygore818 it is 15 1/8 x 10 1/2 x 3/4. I though it was like 1 1/8 but it a just under an inch.
thank you for the review. this bag stands on its own correct (unless something inside is making it fall over) ? i just want to confirm.. it looks like it does stand up but wanted to make sure you were not using something to prop it up. even looks like it stands up with those straps sewn to the bottom. thanks and great review!
Yes the bag has a flat sewn bottom and will stand it it's own as long as it not unevenly packed. I did not use anything to prop the bag up in my video or thumbnail.
I like those glasses you are wearing. What brand are they?
Adam S those are older frames. I’ll have to find them and see who makes them.
Cool. Thanks
They are the marchon nyc leonard. Hope that helps.
jeffgrantMEDIA thanks. How do you like this bag? I want to order one and was wonder did you do the custom Tactical or Rainmaker custom bag? Also, what number do you choose to get the two pieces on the shoulder straps green? I didn’t see a number on those. Kind of confusing when ordering a custom bag, since you can’t see the changes right away.
This is a great bag! I actually have two more bags getting made from Greenroom right now. I got a custom rainmaker and added the molle webbing to that. I didn't want the side web straps. This bag was a 5 panel bag, where panels 1,3,4, and 5 were grey with panel 2 being black. Pat knew what I was going for and made it without the extra strips being sewn in.
OK unrelated to the bag - what make and model eyeglass frames are those, please? Haha!
Joel Collins haha. I’ll have to look when I get home tonight. I currently rock some frames from Firmoo.com. But those were from the optometrists office.
Totally forgot to check this for you. MarchonNYC. The model is either Downtown or Leonard. I think the model name is Downtown though, that is next to the brand name. Leonard is on the other arm.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Thank you, sir!
A quick question how much did you pay in shipping cause it's 250 Malaysian ringgit currently and idk if it's cause it's covid shipping or is that the usual shipping price
I didn’t pay shipping. Or for that bag. This was a partnership review. GR136 sent me a custom bag of my choice for the video. But i think shipping rates are high now due to covid. I believe shipping was a little less pre covid. 250 MR would be about $60 USD. But for global shipping that’s still not bad. I paid about $50 USD to ship a tripod to the UK a couple of years ago.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA at the end of my customization it comes out to 300 USD plus shipping bit hard to swallow but this is the perfect bag for me, I haven't found another bag that suited my needs this perfectly so glad I found this bag
@@recon12803 that is a big chunk of change for sure, but as far as custom bags go (in the carry world) that’s very reasonable. The carryology/ MR collage sold for about $500 USD, and on the open eBay market they were going for $1000. When i purchase both my B.O.Geat bags, I paid about $50 USD shipping on each from Brisbane, Australia. And each of those bags were over $300 for the bag alone. And I can say it was totally worth the money. Back on point to GR136....All my GR136 bags are bomb proof. And I feel as though I will have them for the rest of my life they are made so well. So take into consideration you purchase a cheaper bag, that doesn’t support your needs as well as the GR136 bag does, then in another year or two you have to buy another because that bag failed. Now you end up spending the same, if not more, and still don’t have the bag you really want. And Patrick is a top notch dude to deal with. He started the business on his own out of his house. He learned to sew just to start his company. Now he is killing it at the game and competing with huge big name companies, putting out amazing products and selling them at a far more reasonable rate than companies like R.E.Load, Chrome, Mission Workshop ( I use to include seagull here as well, but they folded up shop). And they far exceeded the quality and style of companies like Timbuk2.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA yeah I'm currently using a 30ish dollar bag and it's held up quite nice but just not great since it's too cramped and never seems to fit everything I need and I was planning on replacing it with another bag from Amazon but then I remembered seeing chase reeves videos and that when I found out about this bag. I will replacing my bag when it's time for me to go to college, just everything in this bag is what I wanted and needed
@@recon12803 a rainmaker would make a great college bag. I don’t know how many Jansports i went through in college before i found Timbuk2 ( great quality and customer care back in the early 2000’s) and R.E. Load. I think my Timbuk2 was about $150 for a custom bag back then, and my custom R.E.Load was like $350. And they held up like champions for a college load. No tablets either back then. Just book... big, heavy, expensive books. And I still have those bags today. I would put the GR136 quilts on par with my “vintage” R.E.Load bag. But the GR136 has much more comfortable straps!
I like this bag & yr review too. I want to ask about the size of sternum strap...don't u think the buckles r wide? As most companies don't use this type of sternum straps. Does it have loops to attach waist straps? & wt's the weight of the bag alone?
The Truth thank you very much. I really enjoy all of greentoom’s products. This bag was a custom build and I upgraded to Fidlocks from the standard nylon buckle. So if you order a regular bag (not a custom build) you will have a standard sternum strap. As for the Fidlock straps and buckles, they are only slightly bigger than a standard buckle. And I didn’t rally notice any difference in the sternum strap at all. It was still very comfortable, and an upgrade I do recommend. I am not sure if the over all weight, as this had many custom features added to it. But it wasn’t overall too heavy. Being a larger bag in general, it did weigh more than a 20l bag. But again it wasn’t to heavy that it bothered me using it day in and day out.
jeffgrantMEDIA thank u for yr quick reply...i like yr customization...& i'm yr new subscriber.
The Truth thank you for the sub! Stay tuned. I’m getting geared back up to produce more content. And I’ve been talking with Greenroom for some more reviews.
Hey Jeff I really want a rainmaker but I have a couple questions. I'm 4' 11" about 105lbs. Do you think a medium bag would be too big/ comfortable enough for me ? Also do you think I could easily cut out the lap top sleeve ? I don't have one and would rather have the little extra room. Thanks for your time.
Kris Evans a medium might be good for you. I’m 5’9” 170 and the large fit me well. It was. Comfy, and not to big on me. I’m pretty sure if you message GR136 they can make you one without the laptop sleeve. Patrick is a super awesome guy, and does what he can to make your bag perfect for you. If you buy. A stock bag, I’m sure you can cut the front half of the sleeve out. It might not look the cleanest. B I’m sure if can easily be done.
This was by far my favorite review video you've done. So much a great break down of all the compartments. Who doesn't have a curious George in their backpack to keep away from that damn glowing orb lol. I just might have to get one of these bags when income tax comes in. By the way loved the ruckus patch
Thanks Jay! I highly recommend this bag. You can carry everything and the kitchen sink in here! And a Ruckus patch is yours!
how it withstand on rain conditions, is capable of keeping all your gear dry???
I did not get caught in a bad rain storm while using this bag, but i did walk around Philly all day. And about half the day it was a misty rain and all my gear and things were perfectly dry.
Great review.
I have a question that did you expand secret pocket behind the back?
I want to know the space of secret pocket if is enough to put mobile phone.
Mason Yen I honestly don’t remember if I had it expanded. But the regular aiE will fit and iPhone. My Greenroom136 Genesis, has the standard pocket, and my phone fits.
Thank you : )
Mason Yen you’re welcome
Hi Jeff - new to your channel...just wondered if these bags ever go on sale. Thanks for any help!
threekats I think they were on sale during the winter holiday. But please note, the prices are listed in the Malaysian ringgit. So the prices might seem high. Just convert them to your currency, and they will look more reasonable.
Wow... wished those options were available then. Customizations are really quite extensive now! Mine got dragged in a "tuk tuk" so it's got that burnt hole thingy on one of the corners. Still looks good though 😊 Great review!
Tuk tuk scar... it just adds character! And I was blown away with the amount of options offered. You can really make these bags your pwn and fit your needs.
Will this bag hold the new MacBook Pro 16 inch model? I'm on the fence with this bag, but I need to make sure it will hold my new laptop in the padded compartment.
I'm sure the large size will. It holds my 15" late 2016 MBP and the my really larger Dell 15" gaming laptop. That has inches of plastic around the sides. If that thing fits, almost anything will.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA thanks for the quick response! I love your bag reviews! Keep up the great work!
You're welcome! And thank you very much!
Hi! The one you have and showed in this video is it a Medium or Large size?
That is a size large in my review.
Great review. Very detailed.
Now I hope I can add some of the new features into my old Rainmaker.
By the way, did you find any Easter egg surprise that’s not advertised or mentioned at the website? 😁
I didn't find an Easter egg in my rainmaker. Was it a secret pocket? I didn't think this bag had one. If it does PM me the location. I tore the bag apart looking for one! haha
jeffgrantMEDIA Yes it is. My old Rainmaker didn’t receive such love from Greenroom136. 😆
I do know in the more recent messenger and rucksack Patrick likes to add little surprises there.
I found one in the recent custom Junkmonkey messenger bag. Perhaps Patrick can tell. 😎
I did find the surprise in my Genesis.. Now I wonder if there is one in my Metromonger.... hmmmmm
jeffgrantMEDIA 😆
jouwen lee youre the one who compared this with thr goruck gr1 right?
Which size tenba byob insert did you manage to fit in this bag? Is it the 10 or 13(hoping!)?
It is a 10. I'm not sure if the 13 will fit length ways inside. I can try and measure the bag when I get home today.
Wow! Thanks for the super fast reply! Love the video, btw. I am thinking the 13 probably won't fit as it is listed as being 13.5" wide exterior. The 10 will probably work but always nice to have extra space. :-)
I get alerts on my watch. So if I am my computer at work, I'm on top of things. Thanks for checking out my video, and for the nice comment. I checked the specs on B and H, and I'll measure the bag after work. I'm currently testing out a Brevite bag now. So that's my everyday for now.
Perfect, thanks. That would be awesome if you could check the size of the bag. My local retailer has the 13 marked down at the moment so it actually is quite a bit cheaper than the 10 at the moment, go figure. Most backpacks seem to be 13" wide, seems a lot of bag makers don't post important specs like internal pocket dimensions. :-/ Lots of them don't even post pics of the inside of the bag. That's why I appreciate videos such as yours so much.
Sorry for the delay. I completely forgot to measure last night after work. The bag is roughly 12" wide. So a BYOB13 will not fit like the 10 does.
Sold!!! Convincing Marketing!!
Archie haha! I can be very persuasive!
Nice looking bag, but do I need another bag. Hmmmmm
There is always room for another bag! But yesterday something you've been interested in arrived! I'll be digging into this metromonger! And a trip to NYC is in the works. I may have to stop by and let you see it.
6:35 love it. lol
GREAT BAG!
huhhhh i dont see the external pocket options
it may no longer be a listed option. You can always email Patrick and see if they can still do it and get a cost. He is very quick to reply to emails.
wow thanks for the quick reply man!!!!!!!
hey also, what are the dimensions of your laptop? :P did you choose the M bag or the L version?
This is the large version. I don't remember off hand the dimensions of that laptop, but i can try and remember to check them tonight after work, as i no longer use this laptop. but i still own it. it is a 15" Dell gaming laptop.
hey 15" is enough info man thanks a lot!!
How tall are you if you dont mind telling? :D
goat 5’9” 172 lbs runners build.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Copy! I'm doing a review of the bag and I want to show the medium/large bag worn by people with diff. height. Thanks for convincing me to buy the bag :D
goat you’re welcome! All the Greenroom products I’ve got are amazing and top notch!
Nice review!!! Few questions
1. What's the difference with the 3-panel and 5-panel?
2. How did you add bottle pockets for your bag? Is it the sidepouch or sidepocket?
3. How's the weight of the bag?
Saw this post on Reddit, then went to the bag's website, then landed on your video. redd.it/96b7a7
the 3 and 5 panel is for color customization. There is a chart in the bag photos that show you which panel is which number and each can be a different color. I believe I did a 5 panel to get the stripe where I wanted it, but they only used 3 panels to make it (and I'm glad they did, it looks cleaner that way). If you don;t chose the clam shell option, you can add side pockets to the bag. AS far as weight, i'm not sure, as I don't have a digital scale, so I never weigh bags. Though the question does seem to come up with every review. I really should purchase one.
omg stop sounding like a weather man. just talk. Jesus.
Neil I guess you have a great weatherman where you’re from.
