Why Gaitonde gave the Kaal Granth to his Father:
The one thing he truly loved was not a person, it was a city, Mumbai. But it was too late for him to save it. He has to die as Guruji's disciple knew the location of his place and can get the truth out from him. So he basically divided this the whole thing into 3
1. Send Kaal Granth to someplace safe that no one suspect and tell Sartaj a riddle and hope that he can solve it (Only Trivedi will live, else will die). Trivedi means Gaitonde's father (not literally, but the movie he produced he kept the name of his father, Trivedi)

Adding my 2 thoughts here, I feel this was the moment he realised of the 3 fathers of his, his biological father was the only one who had only given him and never taken from him. All other so called fathers had their self interest in him. Also his drugged state helped him.

Aham Brahmasmi is the declaration of vedic scripture. That man himself is God. Osho said thhough, that it has to be realised and not merely repeated.

Yeah he gave the book to his father to keep it safe as well. And then sent saif ali khan on its trail. In all probability Gaitonde was sure his father being a priest would probably not be too happy to receive a book from his son - a gangster- also the son who killed his cheating wife. Also being as sincere as he was he was the only person with a moral compass who Gaitonde knew would not do anything but the right thing.
In the letter Gaitonde tells his father to go to Batya as he thinks it's his way of asking forgiveness and also leaving the decision in his hand.

I think( based on your reaction ) that you didn't realise that Trivedi ( Gaitonde's father ) was the one Gaitonde wanted to save ( sab mar jayenge, sirf Trivedi bachega ), and not the Trivedi who was found ( kind of dead ) in the last episode of season 1....

Gaitonde couldn't do anything for his dad the whole life (as mentioned in his letter), so he sent it to his dad so that he could save him.
And his dad is "The Trivedi", who will not die but all others will (as mentioned on and on).

Jaby, Nawaz ji can act anything and do anything. He did few movies where he was like “mad king” and those performances of him are ah-mazing like in Kick he was such a crazy villain and also in Raman Raghav. He is truly brilliant. His acting is unparalleled. If you get a chance to see an interview of him, he is such a sweet and humble personality. He has 1 million layers and all of them is 😧🤯
There is some deep ending with episode 8 but a bit of drama as well, ending could have been better but anyways good season..👍

Jaby very well explained Gaitonde's psychology in that scene. About the book, I think Gaitonde wanted to hide it away from Mumbai out of reach of Guruji's men and to a trust worthy man who was none other than his biological father. Also to save his biological father he instructs him in the letter to take this book to Batya so that she will take him inside the bunker and save from Nuclear explosion.

Bro you are wrong bcoz u missed a point.....The surname of Gaitonde's father is Gaitonde only not Trivedi.
But in the movie that Gaitonde made about his own life the surname of the character of his father was Trivedi and that is what he was alluding to throughout.
And when Sartaj watches the movie he realises the fact that the "Trivedi" Gaitonde was always alluding to was Gaitonde's father only.

I think Gaitonde totally believed that there is no saving of the world, so he wanted to save his father. The person bringing in the Kaal Granth would be accepted by them.
@jabykoay gaitonde sent the book to his dad as an act of atonement for the wrong he had done to his father, it was gaitonde that killed his mother and his father was jailed for it. Hence he sent him that book so that his father can enter the new world with the help of that book or even save the one in trouble !
Gaitonde has never done good to his father so by giving the book he thought he could save his life and can do one good thing for his father
Trivedi as it turns out wasn't only the name of the guy that was found in Gaitonde's secret hideout it was also the name of his father... It was Gaitonde actually who killed his own mother but his father was arrested and put into jail as the police thought he killed his own wife... So as an atonement for the sin Gaitonde committed he sent the last granth back to his father just so he could take it back to Batya and in turn join Guruji's followers and survive the nuclear blast that was about to happen... But as it turns out his father never read the letter so he had no intention to go back and return the granth (book)... This is a call back to why Gaitonde kept saying "only trivedi will survive" as he believed his father may survive the blast after reading his letter... So this was Gaitonde's plan all along which obviously didn't work out as his father never read the letter...
Please check out the part again where Sartaj reads letter .. last line .. that book might also have way to save the world..

I myself have always believed that such scenes which serve a purpose and shown on reasonable degree tends to have much more impact , like the case in this show(which by Indian mainstream standards is quite a bit still) ! I belong to The north east of India(guwahati)...
and The incident that the last Episode had in it's final moments, of The whole bunch of Hindu kids killing this Muslim kid...that was a Barbaric incident, I strongly believe, Anurag had a Lot of Inspiration from some of The most recent Barbaric attacks that have taken place in India, Especially the One from the north east of India(a year back, two young men were Slaughtered, beaten to death, for Having a certain attire and outlook, which made the People suspect them of being into some wrong purpose)... and That case has been rolling in court ever since, justice has been pending(Although the Culprits are nearly proven guilty)... the Police as you pointed out Jaby, They showed up hours later the Two people were already killed(Massacred)....
