It's possible he didn't realize it right away, but I'd have to bear in mind that the reason he didn't stay to fight Ginyu anyway was because he was so focused on reacquiring the Dragon Balls.
If Vegeta turned Super saiyan Frieza would still WRECK THE SHIT Out of him lol 145,000,000 Vs 120,000,000 and yes I know friezas power depleted when he faced goku at the end but STILL lol

Only critique is it doesn't make a ton of sense for Goku to be at his full 3 million at the time of his transformation. He just used a Kaioken x20 and had the shit beaten out of him charging the spirit bomb. I would headcanon he dropped to around 2M, hit 100M as a Super Saiyan and slowly started regaining power up to 150M while Frieza started off decently winning at 100% and declined hard.
