Thanks for uploading Japanese tournaments with English commentary, this top 8 was really good and enjoyable to watch. The only suggestion I have is to maybe put the chat closer to the bottom left corner so it doesn't cover the gameplay as much. Sometimes it was difficult to see properly when they were fighting on the left corner. Aside from that good job and thanks for uploading this.
23:55 - if you pay attention to the skill cooldowns, score tends to use EX Teleport more when he sees Djeeta's EX DP on cooldown. a possible reason that score didn't spam EX teleport much is because there is an OS for characters with EX DP that lets them 100% win against all options from Lance's EX Teleport if you know it's coming, OR, can react fast enough. the OS is 4~6H+S. you walk back until the EX Teleport followup either comes out or can no longer be done, and then you hit EX DP and it beats block, j.H, SSBA, and even j.U because the 4 walk back puts you at the correct spacing to not get crossed up and whiff.
so once gamera's EX DP is on cooldown, Score starts liberally using it. he uses it a few times when gamera does have EX DP, but he was likely betting on gamera not expecting it and being unable to react in time.

I main Djeeta, so I always watch Gamera's replays.
He tends to do simple input super anytime the super would kill, and only does technical input if he wants damage or he's trying to get the max range animation. But if he does do the technical input, you should watch his inputs, it's great. That man is mashing every input so hard and then when he does the 214 input at the end, it's like he spins his stick lmao.

Good tournament overall. I just wish there was less Lowains, Potatos and Lancelots. I would love if it had the best Ferry (Xyzzy) and more Zetas (there was only that one who won the A rank players tourn.)

Everything you talked about DP is true in hindsight. Never realized some before, especially the pressure it gives just by existing.
The threat of a DP is just as powerful as the DP itself.

Even if Xeph loses the mirror, it doesn't necessarily mean that Ryo's a better percy, just that he's better at that one specific matchup.
Just means he's better during that one specific FT2 set on that day.

I'm a Djeeta main, and man she so fun to watch. Combos are cool and her neutral is fun to watch. Learned a lot from these guys!
I thought Kat didn’t get nerfed badly. What did they buff about percival to make him rise in tiers?
Kat c5m now -1 and do not link to each other anymore. Thats her biggest nerf.
Unlike gran and lancelot , she need this more than those 2.
They didn't do much to Perci, he only got more consistency on 2H and 2U, but other top tiers getting nerfed makes him shine more.
Kat is still strong. Percy got a lot of small but useful buffs that helped him out when he was an already strong character.

I'm assuming DP is fireball, but Zoeey has the wyvern, so she does have 🔥 in a sense and she has an anti-air that's invincible on ex.....so maybe am not seeing it
DP is "Dragon punch," usually someone's 623 invincible start-up rising punch (Gran 623, Kat 623, Percy 623, etc.)
DP = Dragon Punch
It just is a move that is invincible and comes out on the first frame that you get up from the ground on.
Meaning I can't just punch while you're getting up for free.
It's called Dragon Punch because of Shoryuken from Street Fighter.
DP is short for dragon punch, any move that doubles as an anti-air and is fully invincible from frame 1 is called a DP. Zooey's jumping anti-air special, even on EX, is NOT fully invincible. It is immune to aerials but it will absolutely get stuffed by any grounded move.
Ladiva is actually less grappler-y then a lot of other grapplers in other games. But what she does get in return, is some pretty above average pressure and tools. Lots of frametraps, safejumps, classic grappler resets, a 0 frame command grab and the ability to confirm into sweep.
The unique thing about GBVS is the special shortcuts. Because of this, any character with a DP can just mash it and force their turn back from any gap in the opponent's pressure, just a 1 frame gap is enough (BBTAG has this too, but that game also has more ways to deal with DPs and makes a failed DP way more punishing). For any character without a DP, if Ladiva gets them into a corner (which is easy for his moveset), they just have to deal with it because everything they can do to get out of the corner is higher risk than just mashing out a DP with the shortcut.

It's always weird for me to hear people say Percy is one of the best in the game. Not a day one Percy, but I picked him up pretty early after launch. Maybe I'm just biased, but I still think Gran and Kat are above Percy, and I think he's on par with or just above Djeeta. It could just be that I personally struggle with those characters, but that's just what I think.
Also, don't get me wrong, I've always and still think Percy is really strong. Just not sure how high I'd place him.
Percy is low A-tier at best; he's nowhere near as strong as people say. Most of the people saying he's OP are trying to get him nerfed. He's not terrible, but he's sort of the worst of the best. Overall, he's a slow character who relies on intimidation and lack of character knowledge to win, plus he's burdened with a resource-gimmick that prevents him from properly capitalizing on a lot of wakeups.
If your opponent isn't scared of him, knows how to avoid getting trapped by his dash-n-smash, and just plays aggression the whole game, he's got very few options. Also, his orb mechanic actively hurts his defensive game by making his DP even more punishable.
Gran, Djeeta, and Kat are all easily S-tier, especially Djeeta, who is pretty much tied for the most broken character along with Ferry.
@@RaxuRangerkingsChannel Djeeta is the most broken character? You're entitled to your opinion, but I believe you are dead wrong. Djeeta is strong, but Gran is still much better. He gets better returns for his buttons and combos, and overall still has much better buttons. Not saying she isn't high tier, but NOWHERE near broken or OP.

@@ANIMEILLUMINATI Narmaya is strong on paper but in reality she's gimmicky as hell. When I win, I feel like its because of fundamentals. I dont feel like Narmayas tools contribute that much compared to the rest of the roster

@@dalferu Whoa whoa whoa calm down. Her EX """DP""" is plus on block, absolutely do not give that move invuln. For now, just be glad she can at least use her skybound as a reversal unlike some others.

Fantastic top 8 watch though! I'd definitely suggest a way to make the Ui you run less intrusive for actual fighting games or tourneys or w/e - I found it quiet difficult to see what was happening at times due to interfaces in corners

This gameplay is so street fighter, so boring. Hope they don't do the same with Guilty Gear Strive. There's nothing more boring than this type of fighting games.
All the new fighting games are going back to these SF/Footsies style... combo days for days may be over for GGS if you've seen the beta gameplay. Hella Samurai Showdown vibes and that's not a compliment

I think it's way more boring when the game is a competition to see who gets to play single player mode, and the only opponent interaction is them trying to successfully escape the 50/50 or 33/33/33 for the 30th time
