Jim Rutherford drafted Lindholm. Dont be surprised to hear an extension on a team friendly deal. He wants a cup, we all want a cup. Rutherford is a proven winner.
Rutherford ran Carolina into the ground, he dipped out of Pittsburgh before he tore them down. Rutherford gets lucky with rosters he’s not a “proven winner”
I'd be surprised if Lindholm gives the Canucks a team friendly deal. He did that with the Flames once before and is now looking to get paid on a long-term retirement contract. Canucks need to hit at least 9 mil per season to keep him. Not worth that!
it's 2024, can TSN youtube FINALLY start balancing their audio levels for the rest of youtube? i can listen to almost everything else on 20% volume~ and hear it word for word and then this shit i have to max at 100 to barely hear the conversation. (also y'all don't do good subtitles so i can't even read the video...)
I'm an original Calgary Flames fan now residing on Vancouver Island BC and I am ok with this trade. If the Flames aren't going to make the playoffs then the Canucks will carry on.
Selke Finalist for a player that could score 39 goals and still not be a possession player. I'll take Lindholm every time. They are similar age. It's not like Kuzy is young.
Brain farts on defence on a regular basis. That blind pass giveaway recently as he left our end at the blue line back into the slot right to an opposing player sealed his fate, methinks. He was trying hard lately but seems lost on defence.
Giving up a first rounder is risky, but you have to understand the mentality in Vancouver. In the league over 50 years and zero cups. With a legitimate shot this year, they gotta go all in. Playing it safe for over 5 decades has got them diddly squat
There are always surprises in drafts but honestly this draft after 10-15ish is not that amazing looking right now. Its a good year for Vancouver to be ready to make these deals
I would have taken Hanifin, thrown in Podkolzin (who is another Juolevi-type first round dud), sent Myers to the minors, and kept the two defensemen the Canucks surrendered. The playoffs will confirm my belief in a strong defense. Every year a top team is knocked out of the playoffs...
Kuzmenko had very little playoff experience & bad defending during a powerplay. He was surrounded by good players but wasn't performing well. On the other hand Lindholm has playoff experience & great on the powerplay, also the fact he has only 9 goals this season is ONLY because he plays with a crap Calgary team.
Who is Allvin ? Even when Vancouver makes a huge trade they say when Jim Rutherford wants a guy he goes and gets a guy, nobody even mentions Allvin lol. I rmbr when teams makes a trade, it is the GM of the team that makes and gets credit for the trade. But here in Vancouver any time this team does anything involving a trade, it is always Rutherford who gets mentioned. So all that makes me just wonder what is the point of having someone like Allvin when he is the GM of the team but people always will credit Rutherford, which also makes me wonder what is it that Allvin do lol. Everywhere else every other teams when they make roster moves it is always the GM that gets named for doing these things, but not in Vancouver, some people don't even know who Allvin is lol it's always Rutherford lol
I imagine it's actually more of a partnership, but Rutherford has done the job for so much longer that he's got more of a reputation and a style that analysts can't help but recognize and name. But I do think Allvin is a big part of the equation.
@@joelface well I sure hope so, he better be a big part of the equation, whereas otherwise I would like to have a job like his lol, where I don't really do anything aside from the occasional interviews and get paid like a general manager lol.
In the heads of the sports media people, Rutherford is a big name, Alvin not so much. Rutherford is Canadian and Alvin a Swede which also makes a big difference among closet super-patriotic Canadians. If the GM was named Perter Forsberg, Jaromir Jagr or Mats Sundin then, maybe, Canadian media would mention them as some sort of contributor to a team.
That would’ve been juicy, but unfortunately history leans towards direct trades between the teams with the best rivalry in the league being quite rare. It’s too bad though, that would’ve been wild lol
Patrick Maroon from the Wild for their 4th line is the Canucks next move. The cup follows this guy around. Grit and sandpaper who can play a shift on the 1st and 2nd line to straighten out other teams agitators.
Canucks will get Monahan to bolster that 2nd line even more. Then move mikheyev to 4th line with Lafferty and Hoglander. Run 2 1st lines and 2 2nd lines and run Edmonton out of town 😂
people are dumb looking at points for lindholm this season.. calgary has been terrible. no one has any points. i think this is a great trade for canucks. lindholm is like a mid-spec full size truck, reliable.. but not unnecessary complex for things to go wrong, who need lane assist anyway?
I dont see how sean monahan is a difference maker on a contending team. In a vacuum I guess his value is ~a 1st round pick... but the role he plays on montreal.... any contending team has that player already, so the value their getting in picking him up is closer to middle six forward than top 6 forward. Lindholm atleast you have the defensive aspects of his game in addition to any offensive skills
My problem with these kinds of deals is that it could be bad for the team if the guy who gets traded for 5 "assets" let's it go to his head. However it could be the best thing to have happened to bring an end to the Kuzmenko saga. We will find out.
it makes no sense to me why a company like TSN can't manage to upload content at 1440p, or even 1080p at 60fps, yet joe schmoe streamer can. Get your shit together.
Yall realize Lindholm uses a kids flex stick flames are gonna definitely improve with an actual right hand shot with ovi flex and faster more dangles to
If The oilers could somehow get Tanev. Put nurse and Tanev together then you’d have Ekholm and Bouchard and then Ceci and desharnais/kulak oilers defence would be scary af. The oilers really just need 1 more top 4 defenceman and they’d have 2 of the best D lines in hockey rn.
We got fleeced by the flames! 39 goal scorer, first round pick, top prospect. All for a guy who had 9 goals and 32 points in 49 games and no contract. Huh?
Not impressed with the return … Kuzmenko is a dead weight … Canucks dump an overpaid loafer, a former 3rd round pick and a Canucks first pick likely a late first rounder …
Hahaha any GM that gives up a first round pick to get Monahan should lose his job! Bug then again maybe there are GM’s out there dumber than Brad Treliving!
The Canucks overpaid, but you could argue a lot of teams who are going for the Cup overpay to get that one last piece that they think they need. If they win, nobody cares. Even if what they gave up turn out to be excellent players and the player they got doesn't put up big numbers and/or doesn't stay with the team much longer afterward, if everyone ends up with rings, nobody's complaining. The goal is a Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, if you don't win, as the Canucks found out after 2011, sometimes you're left with depleted assets with which to rebuild and older players on big contracts who aren't producing anywhere near up to their cap hit. We'll see if it works out. Mike Gillis went from the world's greatest GM when the Canucks won 2 straight Presidents Trophies and went to the Finals in 2011 to being the worst GM in history according to fans (replaced recently by Benning) within the span of a couple of years. They ended up being a team straddled with long term contracts for guys who were over the hill and no prospect pool to speak of. The same thing happened with Banning, only almost no playoff appearances. This is why I like the old Detroit/Tampa Bay model, where you just draft well, get guys to stay for a decent rate and then fill the roster with the players you need, but you're drafting so well that even when guys leave, you still have a competitive team because those younger guys are filling roles well on ELC. The problem with the Canucks is that if they don't win this year, it's going to be very hard to be a contender next season. There are too many guys who need to be resigned.
A 1st for Monahan ??!!! Never ina million years. Whoever does pay that is an Insane Indiotic GM. I wouldnt give no high than a 3rd for him idc what his AAV is..
I'm giving Rutherford and Allvin way more credit than that. Plus the OEL deal wouldn't have hurt so bad if it didn't come with an insane contract. I think Lindholm will EXCEL under Tocchet's system, but time will tell.
