This week we’re talking about food, my relationship with food, and my love for it. Like any love affair, we’ve had our ups and downs.
Growing up as someone extremely skinny, I was always shamed for the way I looked, I was bullied throughout elementary and middle school because of my lanky and effeminate appearance. Although, even more painful was that I was also told off at home because of it.
It’s always been my identifier, it’s the first thing that people back in Indonesia would say as soon as they see me. Wow, you’re so skinny or did you got even skinnier? You would look a lot more handsome with a little more weight don’t you think?
Incoming attacks like these weren’t rare, it was an everyday occurrence. Of course I’m not in any way whining about the fact that my mom overfeeds me every chance she gets, she just wanted me to appear bigger, thicker, masculine, which unfortunately for my family, I never was. This was a time in my life where I can truly say that I hated food, it was a symbol of pain, it was an emblem of my lack of mass.
I was forbidden to wear certain clothing styles or “feminine” colors like red, pink, or yellow. It came to a point where I would wear layers of long sleeved shirts to appear like I had more mass, because I was tired of being told I was too skinny. I looked ridiculous.
I started really appreciating food after I came out and my life basically came crumbling down. I had a different relationship to it because I was in survival mode. I’ve shared my coming out story in the past and I don’t really want to rehash it now but it’s the first video I’ve ever uploaded on this channel if you’re curious to know more.
Food became a source of happiness, the one thing I knew for sure that could make me feel full again. Maybe with another bite of that chicken McNuggets, my heart won’t feel as empty anymore. I was feeding my body but I was also trying feeding my soul. But of course, that feeling was always fleeting.
I slowly built my life back up again, before it came crumbling down, then back up again, then down again, until the day I met Max. Let me be clear that finding love was not the thing that saved me, but it was what gave me a reason to keep on going.

Something I really like about this channel is the calm and quirky vibes. I also really appreciate that you keep it real. I notice sometimes that some of the people in the comments like to romanticise your relationship as if you guys always are perfect and never fight or anything, but you are real people. So I think it's quite healthy for the viewers views on TH-cam relationships that you are literally saying straight out that you stopped filming that day because you got in an argument that ruined the mood. I feel like those kinds of moments are important to make sure that your fanbase doesn't get toxic. I really love your content, it makes me happy and I feel more calm after watching. At the end I started crying because of how beautiful this love is being presented. You both really don't have to do this but it puts a smile on my face with my eyes sweating and my heart melting. Wait no hate, but I was under the impression that this channel was run/filmed more by Yos than Max, just since Yos seems to do more of the narrating in the background of the videos, and we see Yos talking to the viewers more through the camera. Again no hate, just my thinking on this

They all make these little rules here and there on how you should look. Yada yada.
But they may not even fit their own beauty standards. They’re the types of people who are insecure and like to lash it out on others to make themselves feel better. Whether it be you’re ‘too skinny’ or ‘too fat’ there is always something ‘wrong’ In the eyes of society. Even if you fit every rule in the beauty standards, there will be people who will work their butts off to find something, SOMETHING wrong about you.
For example: There is an old saying that my dad used to tell me about. It was something along the lines of.. “ The bigger you were, the wealthier”. BUT there is also this ‘amazing’ beauty standard that no one really fits perfectly in . SO WHAT NOW?? So Please enlighten me, which would you like me to fit in? You see people are all about wealth/social status or beauty.
Everywhere you walk, people will see something about you to judge. I read somewhere that said this, If I don’t fit your beauty standards, then I’ll make my own.
But there are also people out there ready to support you and love you with all their hearts.
