      Hi, by that I mean the suppliers of your local dentists. Dentists use alginate to cast teeth. It's usually more of a warehouse, so I would suggest asking a dentist in your area if you can buy from him/her and if not where you would be able to get some alginate. Good Luck!

    hi what the ratio between the water and alginate? how many pounds of alginate dd you use? :)

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      klent mangubat Hi Klent, I don't use a specific mixing ratio, but look at the consistency of my alginate (A creamy consistency). I would suggest testing a little bit of alginate first.

    How long did it take for the plaster to dry up?

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Reem Alomari The Plaster dries fairly quick, It should be dry enough in about 15 Min but I left mine for about half an hour. It's also Important not to leave the plaster too long in the alginate. The alginate tend to shrink rather quick so it might break the plaster when it shrinks and the plaster is still in the alginate.

    Hi. Where did you buy your alginate??

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , I've found mine at a local store selling dental supplies ( to dentists). Alginate is commonly used to cast teeth. The other alternative might be Spa's or places selling cosmetic materials as they use cosmetic alginate for facial masks. If you still can't find any you might go and look online. Good luck.

    where can i buy this plaster?

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can buy both the plaster of Paris and Alginate at a your nearest dental suppliers. Some art & sculpting stores might stock this but is usually bit over priced. Alginate is sometimes used for cosmetics, so you might try a cosmetic supplier as wel.

      Dankie Riaan, hoeveel gm is genoeg vir 'n hand ?
      Weet jy dalk waar in Pretoria sal ek daarvan kan koop !
      Dankie vir die terugvoer ! Groete, Jan Tromp

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jan ek is nie seker hoeveel gram nie maar so 'n 3/4 pakkie. Ek sal ook voorstel dat jy net bietjie toets voor jy die hele pakkie aanmaak. Jy sal dit kan koop by Elite dental supplies. Ek glo hulle is nog in die Eldoraigne omgewing. Ek sal hoewel voorstel dat jy hulle net eers kontak. Jy soek verkieslik hulle "cosmetic alginate". Hulle verkoop gips ook.

      Ander plakke wat moontlik ook sal he (waarskynlik duurder is Jimnettes & plastocure)

    can't we use plaster of paris....

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Sure. The plaster that I'm using is just a little bit stronger so it can withstand the shrinkage of the Alginate a bit better, but normal plaster of Paris should work just fine.

      Riaan Coetzee Thanks sir!
      I meant instead of Alginate powder can we use Pop?

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's also also possible, You will however need to make a two part mold, so the process is a bit different.

    can i add a concrete mix into the alginate?

    • @riaancoetzee3998
      @riaancoetzee3998  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Noora, Yes you can add concrete instead of plaster. I have however found that the Alginate shrinks quite fast, and that might cause the concrete to crack. Adding extra chemicals such as a plastisizer and an accelerator might help. I would also advise that you start to remove parts of the alginate as quick as possible so that the tension of the aliginate on the concrete is reduced. If you don't have anything fancy to add to the concrete I would advise to make the concrete as dry as possible and add less water to the alginate.
