Teoh, thanks you for this. I've always liked when you sketch your packing list. You are so right when it comes to marketing our own work. I am so uncomfortable doing that . I painted for about 10 years before I ever entered any competition or even showed my work to any one except family and close friends. When I finally did for the past 20 years i've won awards, and sell some of my watercolors online. The best thing i did was to join art groups, go to meetings . I have not set the world on fire, but now at age 80 I can at least say I took my art out of the closet. I love your sketches, the way you present your videos and wish you all the best on this journey.
+Barbra Joan Araneo Thanks. Some artists don't know that their artworks are their best asset, especially so today with the Internet which can reach so many people that were previously impossible.
I love when you draw what you put in your suitcase. I sketch like you now, especially when I'm testing a new sketchbook which I don't know the quality of the paper, it allows me to see how does my watercolors. And congratulations for all your drawings of tokyo review !
I love the uni ball air. I used it all the time during school because I liked the thick bold lines and the waterproof aspect came in handy during the rainy season. While running to my bus stop my backpack had somehow unzipped itself and all my papers dropped out in the pouring rain. I scooped everything up, sopping wet, and got on my bus to go home. I let the pages air dry and was surprised when none of the ink smeared or faded! Really nice pens. C:
Your idea of sketching your travel kit - I tried something similar on my last holiday, and found it super useful when reviewing what was useful and what not afterwards. Hopefully I'll gradually become a wiser packer :-)
+Iris Gross Try the Uniball Eye or Uniball Vision Rollerball too. The ink is waterproof. There's also the needle point version for those pens. I used to use the Pilot but switched over to the waterproof ink pens.
i was really curious about the sketchbook when i was watching your Japan videos! it looks really great. cant wait to see all of your sketches from your trip. :D
Teoh Yi Chie Can share with us your thoughts on the binding and the 200 GSM paper? My concerns on this book are whether it has clean and neat binding, and whether the thin 200 GSM paper has bleed through and I'm sure the paper will warp. Thanks brother!
🖒🖒 nice sketches i really enjoy your style and ofc your videos. your chilly and smooth voice adds up to the coziness of the vid! thanks it was great 🖒😁
+Marissa PR I bought it on eBay. These stools are made by many companies so I don't know which is the best. But get one where it features vertical and horizontal stitching. Anyway, note that this is not the strongest of portable stools. I'm 60KG plus and it works well with me. I'm not sure how well it can hold for heavier person. Check out my portable stool comparison at www.parkablogs.com/content/review-portable-outdoor-stools-and-chairs-compaired
Hey Teoh! Say...if you were gonna go buy 2 or 3 watercolor brushes, which ones would you get and why? Be specific with size and brand if possible. I assume one of the brushes would be a DaVinci Maestro #6 Travel Brush? Thank you sir!
+Jason Mullins Round brush is most versatile so it's a must. As for size, I use size 6 for A5 sketchbooks (open to A4). You might want to add a size 2 so that you can draw small details easily, and a size 10 to cover larger areas. The large brush can be a flat brush or a mop (squirrel hair) brush. If you're on a budget, get synthetic (e.g. Da Vinci Cosmo Top Spin). If you have the budget, then the Da Vinci Maestro travel brush. Those brushes can be found sold in sets so there is, if I remember correctly, a small, medium and large brush included.
+Robert Bartlett I'll be posting a video on beginner watercolour brushes soon. Meanwhile you can check out the content at www.parkablogs.com/content/best-watercolour-brushes-beginners
Sry for leaving a comment in this older video. I always ask myself how you paint this dual color granulating colors like on the three pencils? Do you mix the colors only a bit?
Carabiner's opening is small and can't go through large handles. S hook is more flexible. For example, you can hang from the backrest of a chair, from a fence, on a train's side handle bar, on a tree branch. Lots more possibilities.
That makes so much sense, but that never occurred to me. lol. I should know what it was, since that's what my family called it when I was growing up. btw, i've tried the uniball air in the store and it's a pleasure to use... i can't really figure out why. If only there were some way to refill it.... i'd buy it.
+Josef Krause There are some drawing videos and my sketches in these two links below th-cam.com/play/PLucoL_7WoAgDD3iul6Me6RIruU_UyhKDO.html www.parkablogs.com/tags/my-travelogue

I've been looking for a ballpoint pen that's waterproof. I just bought the Uniball AIR and gelstick. thanks for the recomendations!
+Timmy1337 Cool. I love those pens. So affordable and good.

+Rosa R. I read that they used some sort of pigmented ink.
Good idea to make a scetch of packing list, nice addition to a travel journal to tell the story of your trip. Thanks for sharing
+TheYellowsun76 Thanks :-)
That was fun to watch. ^_^ Very nice of you to help your friend like that. I'm sure he'll be very pleased to your videos of it.
+James Barton Thanks :-)

Thanks Teoh. Your packing list sketches are some of my favorites _(probably_ _because_ _they_ _seem_ _easier_ _to_ _do_ _for_ _beginners_ _like_ _me)_
+David Lorell Yeah, these are subjects to get started with.
I love these piece by piece videos! I like the Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball in Extra Fine
+Iris Gross Try the Uniball Eye or Uniball Vision Rollerball too. The ink is waterproof. There's also the needle point version for those pens. I used to use the Pilot but switched over to the waterproof ink pens.

+shikanata Thanks. I'll create a flip-through video soon.
Can you show us your Arkademie sketchbook and a review maybe? Thanks! Looking forward to it!
There will be a sketchbook tour for all the Tokyo sketches in tomorrow's video.

I'll have detailed review for this sketchbook soon.
Would you do a video on picking colors for shadow areas? thanks for the inspiration
I'll consider that in the future. I need to paint some examples
uni-ball AIR pen is good for drawing.
🖒🖒 nice sketches i really enjoy your style and ofc your videos. your chilly and smooth voice adds up to the coziness of the vid! thanks it was great 🖒😁
+katja what Thanks 😊
Being trying to get the uni-ball air in Singapore... but most of the shop doesn't sell anymore :(
Try the stationery stores at Bras Basah
Wonderful! May I ask what brand is your portable stool? I´m thinking of buying one but not so sure yet. Any advice? Thanks Teoh!! :)

Jason Mullins Great question... I would also like to know Teo's answer.

While the wash is still wet, you charge in another colour. See this tutorial th-cam.com/video/T92mcAmPdvQ/w-d-xo.html
Many thx. I havent see the other video before. Thats very helpful. Thx for your time
Quick question, but does anyone know what the two S-hooks (5:07) are for? I've never seen them in a travel pack.
+Grace H It is to hook my bag to something else so that I do not have to carry it.
Teoh Yi Chie have you considered using carabeners before? Although they require a loop of some sort, their benefit is that it's a closed loop
Carabiner's opening is small and can't go through large handles. S hook is more flexible. For example, you can hang from the backrest of a chair, from a fence, on a train's side handle bar, on a tree branch. Lots more possibilities.
what watercolors and brushes do you use?
Currently Daniel Smith watercolors mostly. As for brushes, Da Vinci Maestro and Rosemary pocket watercolor brushes.
Teoh Yi Chie thank you!! your artwork is seriously so inspiring😊
one more question-
is this box of watercolors you drew in you sketchbook also from Daniel Smith?
is there a review for this pen think you draw your chair bit small
+Richard Mika Check out the review at www.parkablogs.com/content/review-uniball-air-rollerball-pen
once you one to buy a pack the prices is out there on ebay
Teoh, what do you do with the S-hooks?
C0raBr0wn that was my only question too!
+C0raBr0wn I use those hooks to hook my backpack so that I don't have to carry them around while I sketch.
+Suzala Suzala I use those hooks to hook my backpack so that I don't have to carry them around while I sketch.
The journal looks glorious. Was it handmade? Please do tell the brand ;-;
its called Arkademie. the link where to get it is in the description :)
+Nysdik 039 The sketchbook's made by Arkademie. Check out more details at arkademie.com/
what is washing powder?
+Aaron Hutson For washing my clothes when the hotel laundry service is too expensive
That makes so much sense, but that never occurred to me. lol. Can u draw a realistic drawing
I can't
One question. Do you draw? I mean I've seen lots of your reviews but I've never seen a drawing video from you.
